Chapter 20: Frontiers of Empire: A Debate of Faith

Chapter 20 Frontiers of Empire: A Debate of Faith

Even in the depths of the deep underground, the light of the emperor's faith once shone here. Thousands of years ago, this imperial monastery stood at the very core of this depleted planet.

The multicolored glass windows hang high above the inner hall of the monastery, like a gloomy light from nothingness shooting into the church from behind the glass windows, shining on the four huge statues.

These four statues of silent guards wearing hoods and holding giant swords propped up the space here with their huge bodies.

The towering dome hangs high above the head, with countless lily patterns and the outline of the golden throne on it. The vast light radiates from the throne as the core, and finally turns into countless prayer carvings covering the entire dome.

Under the dome, several senior members of the Pious Church sat around a mahogany-colored round table. Candles were burning on the candlesticks in the center of the table, projecting a trance-like light onto everyone's faces.

Henry sat on the chair, under the sound of cursing and the shaking of the table, the flames shook like a candle in the wind, and the president of the Low Nest Order rubbed the bridge of his nose helplessly.

   "Mosley, bro, calm down."

"Calm down? We lost a whole ship of scarlet! A whole ship!" Mosley in gray robe roared.

He has changed into the uniform of a priest, the symbol of the three coiled snakes is painted on the gray robe, and the metal plate on his neck.

Mosley roared and looked at Vito, "It's all because of your plan! Vito Constantine! If you hadn't used scarlet as bait, we wouldn't have suffered such a huge loss! A whole ship! More Not to mention the batch that was almost given away for free before!"

"I thought that as a pastor, Brother Mosley, you would like to expand the group of believers." Vito said with a smile.

"Believers? No! They only help us for the scarlet, and a large number of people still rely on us to continue to supply the scarlet, addicts! That's blasphemy to the gods! Shame on you!"

Henry looked at Vito, who leaned back in the chair and easily put one hand on the armrest.

"Indeed, brother Vito, this kind of belief expansion is very unstable, although we did rely on it to recruit many people and seize a lot of territory."

"Profanity! It's blasphemy! The factory must have missionaries before it can be preached by believers in illusions, so that followers can see the image of real gods and listen to their words. Now this is just throwing a group of ignorant lambs at The vortex of chaos!" Mosley yelled, standing up, glaring at Vito and pointing his finger at him.

"You have no faith at all! Vito Constantine! You are not a member of the family! You don't understand our truth at all!"

"Enough! Mosley! I won't allow you to humiliate Brother Vito!" Henry stood up and yelled sharply. Mosley glared at Henry and sat back indignantly.

Henry watched the irritable monk sit down and looked at Vito, "You need to solve this problem, brother Vito, in this meeting."

Vito smiled, clapped his hands and then stood up. Seeing this, Henry sat down and gave the stage to the young brothers of faith.

"That's right, Brother Mosley and Brother Henry. Indeed, this kind of preaching is very confusing. Our new brothers can't figure out what the words of the gods mean, and they will only be confused and confused."

Vito walked up as he spoke, and walked around the round table, walking behind everyone, "We did suffer a lot of losses. We don't know how the Hammer Gang knew about the scarlet issue."

"No, we know, it's that woman! Silver snake! That woman who hung out with you!" Mosley slammed the table as he spoke.

"Miss Silver Snake is the intelligence center of the next nest. All of us will look to her to trade information. Of course, the Hammer Gang got the information from her, but the question is, how did they get it."

Henry frowned and looked at the walking Vito, "You mean, there are traitors? We are inside."

"The possibility cannot be ruled out."

"But I think, this traitor is not in the order, I often go to the silver snake's bar, if it is one of our own, I will notice, but I often see a lot of nest workers go there, the hammer gang workers."

Vito stopped with a smile, and leaned against a statue, "Brothers and sisters, I think our traitors may have exchanged information with factory workers, and finally passed it to the silver snake."

"Then why didn't he tell Mal Hammer directly? Instead, it took so much trouble." Henry asked, but Vito smiled jokingly, seeming a little helpless.

"Of course it's money, Brother Henry, if you tell Marl directly, there will be no benefit at all, why not sell it to Silver Snake?"

"Hmph, greedy man." Mosley said without cutting, holding his arms in his arms.

Vito snapped his fingers, "That's right, greed, a lot of information about the Hammer Gang was also passed on in this way. We used scarlet as a bargaining chip in exchange for a group of not-so-pious insiders. Got the information."

"So we've had a lot of success lately. It's a double-edged sword, brothers and sisters, and we should be thankful that Mal took advantage of it so late."

Vito walked back to the table and sat back on his seat. He looked around everyone with a smile, "So unfortunately, Marr is too late. We will take down his most important factory within this week. Hammer Works."

Everyone began to discuss in whispers, until Henry knocked on the table to silence everyone, the leader of the Lower Nest Order looked at Vito curiously, and even Mosley looked over curiously.

   "How to win?"

"You see, we took down so many of his factories before, that Marr's attention was on defending those small and medium-sized factories that might be taken down by us, while ignoring the fact that in his base camp, there are already some factories in his hometown. Some . . . of our supporters."

Vito looked at Mosley with a smile, "Brother Mosley, look, I have left you the largest hammer factory, and the workers there are waiting for the gospel and guidance from you and your pastors, I believe , you don't worry about the risk of being discovered, do you?"

Vito’s slightly sarcastic smile angered Mosley. He got up angrily and slapped the table with a slap, “Are you humiliating me?! You are questioning my courage and awareness to dedicate myself to the Lord of Redemption!”

"No, of course not, I trust you, my brothers, so I plan to entrust you with the most important task." Vito waved his hand and said, with a smile still on his face.

"Marl hasn't noticed the problem under his nose. I will let my brothers continue to attack his peripheral factories and strongholds, and let him believe that we are preparing to launch a wave of offensives to divert his attention."

"And you, brother, you and your pastors can sneak into the hammer factory, influence the workers with faith and truth, lead them to a riot, or uprising, whatever you like to call it, and help us take down the factory .”

Henry frowned slightly, a little confused, "If, as you said, Vito, in the case of launching a series of peripheral offensives, how should we take down the Hammer Factory? We will lack manpower and weapons."

Vito held his belly in both hands and smiled jokingly, "That's why we need so many new believers who lack piety but are very brave."

"Our new brothers will take on the responsibility of the peripheral offensive. There are a large number of them. Cooperating with some of our elite brothers, it is easy to create the illusion of a large-scale offensive."

"And with the blessing of scarlet and the chaotic whispers of the gods, these drug addicts without faith, as the Mosley brothers say, are very brave, as great victims on our way to redemption."

Everyone looked at Vito, and even Mosley showed a surprised expression. This is all a plan, right? All together, the seemingly chaotic and disorderly behaviors are actually interlocking and logical. It's hard to believe that he came up with this on the spur of the moment.

But well, from what I know of Vito, it's possible that he really came up with an impromptu idea, although no one can say exactly how many plans he had in his head.

Henry looked at Vito opposite him through the dim light of the candle, and he was silent for a moment, "You planned it all?" "Maybe, maybe not, but that doesn't matter."

Vito raised one hand with five fingers, "I also got five well-equipped sentinel walker mechas. With their cooperation, we will take down the factory. Of course, in the Mosley Brothers with the help of."

The discussion sounded again, and Henry was extremely surprised, "Where did you get the sentinel? I don't remember."

"Just tonight, I went to collect the goods before the meeting. Dear Mal. Hammer bought five Sentinels from the upper nest, so I thought, since he has caused us so much damage, there is another Crimson Transport I will make up for the hijacking of the ship."

Vito wiggled his fingers playfully, "To be honest, those big guys are fierce, and they will definitely be of great help."

The young members of the order looked at the priest and smiled. Of course, the smile was not sincere, but more provocative, "Brother Mosley, when will you be ready? If you need time, I can. "

"No! We are ready now! We can spread the voice of faith at any time." Mosley accepted the challenge, and he had to accept it. He could not tolerate such a young new member of the congregation challenging his authority and appearing to be a So incompetent.

Henry frowned slightly. He seemed to realize something, but chose to remain silent. He looked at Vito from the corner of his eye, and the latter showed a genuine smile, "Great."
