Chapter 233 – Extra mana potion

I have a bunch of magic energy herbs in front of me, so it’s time to start making mana potions.

Mia and Chris are close by, preparing lunch. The other three took packed lunches with them, so they’re probably not coming back to eat.

I could’ve prepared packed lunches for everyone, but Mia wants to cook, so I only made enough for the other three.

I’m going to turn all these into mana potions, and then try combining them.

First I try combining two mana potions, but I’m left with one that’s kind of big and has a bit more liquid in it, but isn’t that much more effective.

Then I infuse magic energy, and this time use the skill while picturing what I want more clearly in my head.

I’m picturing something thicker, more concentrated, and more effective.

That leaves me with a smaller bottle.

I cast Appraisal on it, and it says its name is extra mana potion. But I won’t know how effective it is until I drink it.

I should take a break, recover enough MP to cast Space-Time Magic, and drink this after using it. It will be easier to check its effectiveness when I’m low on MP.

“Is it done?”

Asks Chris, because she’s seeing a potion bottle she doesn’t recognize. Mia is looking this way too.

“I guess? I still need to check its effect… Do you two want to try it too?”

They can’t see a numerical value like me, so they have to go by feeling alone, but they can feel the flow of magic energy now, so apparently they have a better grasp on the magic energy inside their bodies.

They look at each other, and nod. I’ll make two more then.

After having lunch, they cast magic to spend as much magic energy as possible.

I also use Space-Time Magic, and then Gravity Magic to make small adjustments to the amount of MP I have left.

“Should we drink now?”

I figured we’d drink them one at a time, but I guess we’re all doing it at the same time.

We face each other and drink the potions. This would look weird from the outside, like a drinking party or a weird ritual.

We gulp them down, and I see in my status screen that I recovered half my MP.

“Oh…”

I’m surprised by how much I recovered, but I also notice one miscalculation.

Does this recover close to five hundred MP, or does it recover half?

After suddenly noticing this, I use Magic Energy Detection on Chris and Mia.

It tells me they recovered a lot. Mia in particular seems to have recovered everything.

Can I conclude that it heals a fixed amount of five hundred?

I make another extra mana potion (that I shorten to EX mana potion), and drink it. Yes, no doubt about it.

“Incredible. It’s completely different from any potion I ever drank.”

Chris sounds excited.

That’s pretty rare, but does Chris have a hard time managing her MP because of her spirit magic?

“This feels like it would help a lot of people.

Mia is moved in her own way. Just don’t drink too much.

“Well, if I want to mass produce them, I better start picking more magic energy herbs.”

And so, I ask them to pick anything that’s not withered.

These EX mana potions I made were high quality, so I also want to check how they turn out if they’re of slightly lower quality.

“But wouldn’t this be hard to sell?”

Asks Chris, and I tell her I don’t know.

I don’t know if current alchemists can concentrate and infuse magic energy like that.

It’s a little different from making full potions, so if I go talk to them about this, I might end up having to explain what magic energy even is.

It’s one thing if it’s someone like Bozen, but whoever I end up talking to might drag me into something annoying.

Should I talk about this when we go back to Majolica?

“I’ll make them just for us for now.”

“I think that’s a good idea. But I also think regular mana potions will suffice, unless I go crazy with my magic.”

Chris tends to have a good grasp on her MP. Apparently it’s because a long time ago she ran out of MP and it undid her disguise.

“Then I’ll make a few EX mana potions just in case, and make regular ones.”

EX mana potions are mostly going to be used to raise my proficiency. It kind of feels like a waste…

Also, I shouldn’t use these skills while their level is so low, unless I really need them or to gain proficiency.

When I was attacked by Hikari, I found myself suddenly needing to learn a skill right then and there, and that could happen again. And since apparently I’m not going to level up anymore, I want to refrain from using skill points.

And when I’m done traveling, I might want to learn useful skills for my daily life, like Cooking.

“Let’s keep picking until the others get back.”

I say, brimming with motivation, but the other two look at me with lukewarm expressions for some reason.
