Now that Arthur had the chance to look at one of the bandits first hand, he could perceive just what was up with them. As such, he could already see some information that was only guessed so far.

'While we knew of the curse, now we get to see just what they are,' Arthur thought to himself before focusing on the status effects.

——

1. Iltan's Bind: A binding spell used by the cultists of Iltan. It will kill anyone that breaks the vow of secrecy. It also alerts the caster about the position of those inflicted by it.

2. Vow of Secrecy: A binding spell that prevents one from speaking about a secret and turns interrogation magic useless.

——

Reading both, Arthur finally realized just why the captain was unable to obtain any information from the bandits.

The Vow of Secrecy was actually a spell that Arthur was aware of and was something that many people used in Morpheus Online. In fact, players would come across a lot of NPCs that had been inflicted by this spell.

It would be a great pain for them to find solutions to this spell. And since the spell was a neutral one, even the NPCs of the good faction used it. The spell itself didn't harm the person it was cast on, it simply prevented them from speaking the secret.

The true problem starts when additional binding spells are added to it.

In the current case, Iltan's Bind was a spell that would kill the person who broke the Vow Of Secrecy. This turned the neutral spell into something that would be an object of fear.

And since Vow of secrecy prevented interrogation magic from working as well, Iltan's Bind would consider its use as a violating and kill the person.

This was why they had come up with the method of using drugs for the same task.

Since it wouldn't be considered as magic, Iltan's Bind wouldn't activate and neither would Vow Of secrecy register it since the person wouldn't be fully aware of it.

It was a loophole that was cleverly put in and was intended for Players to find out eventually.

While Arthur thought of all this, Caleb held up the bandit while Fredric moved closer.

"Alchemist Lugan," He called to the old man.

"Here you go, just one pill and it should work." Lugan handed the man a small glass bottle.

Fredric took the bottle and opened it, taking out a single black pill. The pill was about the size of a lemon seed, making it easy to feed someone.

"You… what is that?" The bandit named Niall questioned, feeling anxious.

He knew that they wouldn't kill them, since that would be against their goal. But getting fed something unknown and continuing to suffer in pain wasn't something they wanted either.

Caleb held the bandit's head tightly, while Fredric pulled down his jaw.

"Let's see if you speak now or not…" Fredric said before stuffing the pill into the mouth of the bandit, who wanted to struggle but couldn't.

~CLACK~

Then Fredric closed the man's mouth and raised his head forcefully.

~gulp~

The bandit ended up swallowing the pill, but Caleb didn't let go yet. They didn't know if he would suddenly lash out, thus it was best to keep the bandit restrained.

The Bandit wanted to shout, but his face was still held shut. His strength was also incomparable against the Guild Master, who was over 40 levels above him. The bandit's futile struggle stopped after a minute and his body slumped down.

"There it is… it should work now." Alchemist Lugan spoke before poking the bandit with his cane.

"Let's see then…" Fredric held the bandit by his shirt and lifted him up. "Speak! What is your name?"

"N… N-Niall." The bandit replied.

"Who do you work for?" Fredric asked next.

"Dozla… and our lord…" the bandit said, surprising them.

"And who is this lord you speak about?" Lugan inquired.

"Our lord… The Deity Iltan…" The bandit revealed.

With his words, the involvement of the Cult was basically confirmed. The expression of Fredric and Caleb darkened while Lugan frowned.

"What was your goal in coming here?" Fredrick questioned the main thing they were wondering about.

"The… mage… told to… Seek her out… Kill…" The Bandit answered, his speech slurring more and more.

"Why do you wish to kill her?"

"She… too… much… stop…" But before the bandit could speak much, he simply passed out.

~SMACK~

"SPEAK!" Fredrick slapped the man, trying to wake him up.

But it was to no avail, as the man seemed knocked out cold.

"Hmm… we had a couple of minutes of effect before he passed out. Guess the drug is still a little strong." Alchemist Lugan stroked his beard.

"It's good enough. We still have 2 more to ask," Arthur said while pointing to the other cells.

"Of course… let's see what they have to say," Fredric said, moving to open the next cell.

~CREAK~

"You… what did you do?" The second bandit had heard a few things and was shocked by it.

"You'll see it soon enough," Fredric said while Caleb went to restrain the man.

Like before, a pill was stuffed in his mouth and the bandit was forced to swallow it.

"Why do you wish to kill the Resident mage?" Fredric questioned the man once the effects had taken place.

"She… protects the town… Need to break barrier… let the… Cult enter…" The bandit answered, surprising them even more.

"They want the cultists to come to the town?" Arthur was surprised too this time.

"And what will you do after that?" Fredric questioned more.

"Sacrifice it… to our lord... Release… shackles…"
