The subjects of the room all came to them when they heard the sound, it was too dark in the room to see how they looked like, but Velika O'Sullivan knew that they were barely human anymore. Whatever Aaron Carling did to them was beyond what she could imagine, all she knew at this very moment was that she had to fight for her, and her husband's lives.

She considered herself good at combating, but not in the dark. She had no idea what she was fighting against or which points she was hitting at but she found her way through, all she could see was the dim light through the window and that was her destination. She knew Daniel Heinrich got there when she heard the window opened and her husband yelled at her to speed up, to which she did, and the second she jumped through the window, she heard gunfire behind her.

They landed on the slope of the hill, it apparently rained earlier today and they were covered in mud, but that was the las thing that they could care about, now the question placed in front of them was:

Where would they go?

"There was a house near the dock," Said Daniel Heinrich while he was leading the way, "This is the time that we'll figure out if we could trust Henderson."

"Why would Henderson help us?" Asked Velika O'Sullivan with a frown, "He's risking his life."

"The last thing his wife wants is that he gets involved in her old business," Said Daniel Heinrich, pushed the branches of an old dying tree aside to clear the path, "She knows that they'll find her. After all these years trying to stay away, I don't think she likes the idea of being involved once again, together with her beloved husband. Remember your story about Konigsberg?"

Velika O'Sullivan remained silent, she knew Blake Konigsberg's story better than anyone else, she had a tattoo on her hand to remind her every day what had happened to her dear friend, who trained her when she was new, and told her an important lesson: Those who worked in their business should never fall in love.

"Falling in love is the most dangerous yet exciting feeling," Blake Konigsberg said flatly but with sparks in her pretty eyes, the cigarette in her hand had almost burned out, "It's like opening a mysterious treasure box, you never know what you'll find inside. Maybe it's the best thing you could ever found in life, or something lethal and poisonous."

If Velika O'Sullivan was ever asked if she regretted marrying Landon Hetherington, she couldn't give an answer. It was like a guilty pleasure, seeded in her heart at first, then bloomed with her not so rational spontaneous decisions. She loved Landon Hetherington, the way she never loved someone else before. Not like the toxic co-dependence between Dean O'Sullivan and her, not like the pure lust with Aaron Carling, it was the kind of love that she longed for and deserved, the kind of love that taught her lessons.

We all want to have control, but emotions are two-way streets.

But why would she drag him into the situation that he would never even imagine in his life if he didn't meet her? Why would she selfishly put his life and their son's life on the edge just because she loved him and was so sure that she would not live without him? Even the harsh truth was that you could live without anyone on this planet, and thriving if you wanted to. Why would she try so hard to hold onto someone who would be much better off without her, who, probably from the second they met, was never meant to be with her in the first place?

When you want something yet know for a fact that you can't have it, letting go doesn't even seem like an option, but holding onto something broken won't do any good either.

Dean O'Sullivan broke Velika O'Sullivan's heart, and he also broke her life along the way. That was when she swore that she would never be like her ex-husband, yet, sometimes she thought to herself, that she broke Landon Hetherington's life.

"Don't get me wrong," Said Daniel Heinrich suddenly in German, knowing Velika O'Sullivan wouldn't understand much, "I admire her lots and I know you love her, but marrying her really wasn't a good idea, Hetherington."

"Probably," Said Landon Hetherington slowly but firmly, "I thought I would be able to handle these when I got married, but it turned out to be what beyond my imagination. However, Heinrich, instead of pathetically thinking what would happen without her in my life, I decide to push forward and cherish the time that I have. This is the path that I chose, and I have to walk it. It is what it is."

"It seems that she picked the right guy to marry." Daniel Heinrich smiled, trying to let go of his grief, the grief that he felt like he was cheated on even though he had no right to make that claim.

"I would certainly hope so." Landon Hetherington smiled too, showing off his neat, straight teeth.

"I know that you two are talking about me," Said Velika O'Sullivan, pretended to be mad, "But I don't care. See, if we get over this, you should go get beer and talk all you want, you Germans."

Daniel Heinrich laughed and Landon Hetherington gave her a hug with a smile. But she didn't smile, she had an odd feeling. Indeed, they were walking on a hill, and it was getting dark but it was extremely weird that it didn't seem like anyone was following them. Logic would be that someone had to be after them since they just escaped, and in this case, would probably an whole team since it was Velika O'Sullivan and Daniel Heinrich that they were after.

She felt like this was a trap, and something eerie was about to happen but she didn't know what and couldn't predict anything. At this point of the game all she could do was go with and react onset, anything could happen, the darkest time had come. But she didn't say a word, she knew that even though Daniel Heinrich was trying to be positive, he knew surely in his heart that nothing was going to be this simple. Kyle Henderson was not to be trusted.

The finally reached to their destination. It was a small wooden house seemed to be built a long time ago, and any kind of storm would destroy it completely. There was no light inside and it seemed empty, she subconsciously pushed Landon Hetherington behind her when they approached to the house.

The second Daniel Heinrich opened the door, the light switched on, after a brief moment of blindness, she saw the people inside the house, standing in the middle of the living room, starting at them.

Velika O'Sullivan pushed Landon Hetherington behind her when she saw Dean O'Sullivan was trying to aim his pistol at him, while Astoria Leontes was aiming at Daniel Heinrich. At this moment, she didn't know what to feel, it was a mix of sorrow and anger, at last, she had to face the worst thing that she ever wanted to confront, Dean O'Sullivan.

"You weren't surprised to see us, Velika," Said Dean O'Sullivan in a flat tone, not aiming away for an inch, "I guess you saw this coming."

"You are a horrible person." Said Velika O'Sullivan, gritting her teeth while holding her husband behind her back, "How dare you drag Landon into this? If this was some unfinished business between us, it should only be between us. What do you want? What do both of you want?"

"You cheated on me," Dean O'Sullivan curled his lips, "You betrayed me for this man, whom, if I remembered correctly, is Aaron Carling's adopted son and Aaron Carling happened to be Astoria's brother. Would you like to fill in the gaps of how messed up the situation is?"

"You are pathetic, I didn't cheat on you. You, Dean O'Sullivan, think too highly of yourself and nothing of me, take me as your possession. Did it ever cross your mind that I showed you what you wanted to see? Like the photo in the interlayer of my bed when you came to my apartment unannounced?" Velika O'Sullivan said with spite, "Now, tell me what the hell do you want?"

"Oh, by the way," Dean O'Sullivan seemed like that he didn't catch a word Velika O'Sullivan said, he pulled out his phone, "Your son, Laken is under close surveillance of my men, if you made wrong decisions, his life is also on the string."

"You are such a bastard, what kind of person would put an innocent child's life as a bargain?" Velika O'Sullivan gritted her teeth, tried her best to stay calm, holding tightly on to Landon Hetherington's hand, "If you dare to touch my son, I will hurt you Dean, I will hurt you."
