"Ready or not, here I come," Jake said after he looked at the girls.

After touching the door, Jake saw it opening by itself, and then he found another large room. The interior was pretty similar to the rest of the dungeon, it was pretty eerie and dusty like the last of the dungeon, but Jake was more worried about the large monster he saw standing in the center of the room.

The boss was essentially an oversized scorpion, still, much like the other boss, making the creature bigger and more powerful increased the feeling of danger it could pass. One could see why the creature had such a high endurance, the whole body was covered in a red, armor-like shell that seemed pretty thick. Nevertheless, Jake finally could see some extra information now that his Appraisal reached level ten. Still, with a status like that, knowing what the enemy was capable of wouldn't be enough to formulate a strategy.

"Eh, let's go and do the usual," Jake said.

The girls frowned slightly when they heard that. Jake had been really weird that day… while he liked a good fight, it wasn't like he disliked using some simple but effective battle plans, but it seemed now that he wanted to solve the problems as he goes instead of thinking about them beforehand. It was a dangerous approach, but it sure fits his behavior when he fights.

They entered the room and Jake unsheathed his sword, much to his surprise, Louise fired an Ice Arrow even before that, but the boss got up with lightning speed and blocked the projectile with one of its claws. Even if the creature were resting, it didn't change the fact that still was looking toward them.

Jake dashed toward the creature the very moment it began to move, meanwhile, Lana buffed everyone with her magic. When he got close enough, the monster had been faster enough to swing one of its claws toward him. Jake blocked the attack, but his charge was completely stopped. Putting the fact aside that the monster was the size of a medium-sized truck, it sure had a crazy level of strength in a single arm. As if that wasn't enough, the strike pushed back Jake pretty fast.

"Blocking with my katana and scabbard won't be enough," Jake thought.

Louise fired some Ice Arrows on the monster's face while it was dealing with Jake, but while that caused some damage, it hadn't been nearly enough to annoy or weaken the area hit. So, Jake had to jump backward and when the monster tried to smash him with its claws, he used Bash. Jake successfully reflected the strike to the side and then dashed toward the face of the monster, but then the other claw was swung towards him. Coming from above, it would be hard to do the same as before. Still, Jake pulled it off after using Bash and then Double Strike. However, there was another attack coming that he couldn't deflect, the monster pointed its tail toward him and then used Poison Cannon.

Louise drained some of the mana of the attack and she frowned at the quantity of energy she obtained. If anyone gets hit by such an attack, with Poison Resistance or not, it certainly won't last for more than two seconds. Jake somehow knew that and that was why he used Dash to move to the side. He had to give up on the attack since the Poison Cannon followed him, but at least he wasn't hit by it.

The boss was forced to stop the attack after a couple of seconds since the creature was losing one hundred points of mana due to it, but it managed to push Jake away from it. On the other hand, Louise had created a large enough Ice Arrow and fired it at the monster. The creature reacted enough to block the attack with its left claw, but in the end, the attack froze it. Before the creature could notice it, Jake had dashed toward the claw and attacked it with all his might. The monster tried to attack, but Jake increased his speed by using Sonic Punch, he hit the claw with his left hand, and then swung the katana with his right, while using Bash followed by Double Strike. The power of his attacks made the ice crack, alongside a certain part of the monster's left claw.

That caused quite a bit of damage, and it will probably force the creature to think twice before attacking or blocking with that claw again. Still, Jake felt shivers when he looked to the side and saw the mouth of the monster approach him, he jumped backward while using Mana Blade to stop the creature. He hit the creature's face, but then the right claw moved toward him, but at that point in time, he had already equipped his shield to block it.

"Ouch…" Jake muttered after the strike pushed him backward several meters.

Jake didn't suffer more damage because Lana used Barrier to help, but to think that a single attack could pack so much power… as expected, just like the other bosses, the scorpion king became stronger when suffered damage or soon after getting wounded in a troublesome way.

While Jake managed to make Bleed reach level two in the half of an hour they had after entering the dungeon, he still couldn't see the monster bleeding… the effects of his attacks were only canceling the regeneration speed of the creature. That seemed something impressive since they were dealing with a boss, but not so much for Jake's tastes.
