Under Her Cursed Scythe

46 3 Days Before Halloween PART D

The aviation spell quickly manifested after a few falls from high windows but it took a while for Alivia to get the hang of the teleportation spell and her mother was never a patient person...

"Do it or you die!" her mother hissed into her ears as Alivia found herself hanging onto a branch that was impaled into the lose rocks of a two thousand feet tall ledge that her mother had lured her up to and pushed her off when she lowered her guard.

"Don't look at me." her mother said, harshly, as she prepared to pace away. "I'm not going to save you. No one's going to, except for you, yourself."

Alivia recalled herself clinging to the lip of the ledge miserably. Her muscles were burning while her feet hooked on to tiny wrinkles in the rock, fighting to ascend to the flat ground overhead. A cold harsh breeze rushed pass her, bringing along the dust and sand with it and making it harder for Alivia to breathe and see. The only thing that kept her from plummeting to the base of the ledge was that sheer will for survival which eventually led to success in activating the teleportation spell and she ended back to the ground, safely and unscathed. However, she could never get rid of that horrid feeling she had experienced that day and it became one of the memories that scarred her for the rest of her life.

'Oh! And let's not forget the practical killing experiences on special Sunday nights like tonight…' Alivia added, inwardly groaning.

"But if my big sister was with me, the tea parties would be much better because I'm always alone." the little girl continued. "For most of the time, I am alone. Mommy and daddy are always too busy with...work…I know I will be less lonely with my sister around…"

"Are you sure you want a big sister?" Alivia asked the little girl. "I have a brother and he stripped everything away from me, including my mother's love. You have to share your parents' love if you have a sibling and sometimes, your parents will love them more than they love you. Can you tolerate that?" she doubted. "Besides, this big sister of yours might not be as fun as you have expected. She might be a pessimistic, detached and cold-blooded-"

"No! No! I'm sure she's nothing like that." the little girl asserted with great certainty in her tone.

"How come you are so certain?"

'Yea right! Sweet and kind…'Alivia mocked at herself. 'And a ball of happiness? What kind of metaphor is that? Is that even a compliment?'

"And I don't mind sharing my parents' love with her." the little girl carried on. "She's my sister and we are supposed to share with each other. I want her more than anything in the world and nothing can change me from wanting that to happen!" she uttered, enthusiastically and then pointed her hand at the Polaris Star. "I once wished upon the Polaris Star for my sister's return. I told it that I would give up anything for her to come back home so mommy and daddy will never cry again and I will never be alone." she chattered. "Though that wish hasn't come true yet…" she spoke with a softer voice. "I know if I keep on wishing, wishing and wishing…this wish will come true, too!"

'Well, I can ensure you that your wish will never come true, cus there's no way that I will ever leave my mother's side.' Alivia responded in thought. However, up till that moment, all the jealous and angry thoughts that once resided in her mind were being eased by the little girl's naive but firm and powerful words, and they touched the deepest parts of her soul without her noticing.

'That's odd! It's gone!' Alivia pondered when she suddenly noticed the bright red light on the little girl's neck had dimmed down and the mark was now only remotely darker than her skin tone.

"I'm Angela, by the way. What's your name?" the little girl queried.

"Um...I'm…"

"Angela! Where are you? Angela!"

Before Alivia could introduce herself, both of them heard the clamor of the little girl's parents.

"It's daddy and mommy! They must have come to find me!" Angela excitedly hailed, loosen her grip on Alivia's hand and ran towards the direction of her parents' voice.

"Mommy! Daddy! I'm here!" she squeaked.

"Angela!" her mother cried while she rushed forward and hugged the little girl tightly in her arms. "Where have you been? Do you know how worried we are?"

"Angela, don't ever run away on your own again! Do you know how dangerous it is to wander alone…I thought you were gone like…" Her father's voice was shaking heavily so as his body.

"I'm sorry, daddy, mommy…I will never ever do this again." The little girl embraced her parents.

"But if weren't for that lady over there, I would never have found my way out." She pointed her hands towards the exit of the park.

"Lady? Who are you referring to?" her mother enquired when she saw no one at the exit of the park except the trees and benches.
