Under Her Cursed Scythe

34 5 Days Before Halloween PART K

Before the veil of steam dissipated, she managed to hit one of her adversaries with fire balls releasing from her scythe and stab another one in the back. Both of them dropped at the same instant, screaming with pain, but the others subsequently became more indignant and their assaults were more aggressive than before.

Even though Alivia was able to sidestep most of their assail and the vicious uppercuts based on her muscle memories, reflexes and fundamentals that she had acquired from the practice floor, she had not predicted that the ball of flames that she was about to toss out would waver, lower, dim in fits and starts and died away suddenly. And within those seconds of losing one of her 'killer moves', Victoria swung back around and gave her a fast and powerful roundhouse kick in the ribs. She howled in torment and fell. Her scythe, along with the vines clinging onto her wrist broke off and flew out of her hands, clattering across the concrete ground!

The moment she fell down, the emerald cloaked person beside her held up his samurai sword at once and aimed at her head.

"No!" the boy in the white cloak yelled, bringing Alivia as well as the cloaked person beside her up short.

He unfolded his white cloak which swiftly transformed into a metal shield in a heartbeat, hurtled through the air and landed before Alivia to block the sword's attack and then sending it skidding across the bare ground.

"No!" he roared again.

From Alivia's angle of view, she could see his outstretched arms corded with muscles and broad back slightly trembling. At the same time, she smelt something akin to a strong woody, herby and fruity fragrance welling up all over his body- the scent of his magic.

"What were you thinking!?" the emerald cloaked person barked, picking his samurai sword up from the ground. "I could have killed you!"

"Listen to me. Don't kill her. She-"

Then, she hinted her other companions to catch Alivia and tackle her to the ground, pinning her head down by exercising over her with authority that wasn't physical.

Later on, Victoria walked forth, attempted to lift the scythe up but strangely, no matter how hard she pulled, she just couldn't lift it up from the ground. At that instant, it became as heavy as the weight of thirteen full-grown elephants.

'It's linked to my blood. I'm the owner. You can't lift it up no matter how powerful you are.' Alivia sniggered with a trace of triumph while she lied on the ground, breathing heavily.
