Under Her Cursed Scythe

22 6 Days Before Halloween PART I

"I didn't know..." Joshua muttered. His voice regained its warm gentle timbre, as though the dignified lion inside of him had instantly turned back into a soft little sheep. "She didn't tell- I didn't know…I-"

"For me, it was quite obvious…she has been talking about you for weeks! Haven't you noticed that she has been fluttering her eyelashes at you, throwing a smile at you all the time, offering her help and making eye contact with you constantly?" asked Cain.

"Yes… but I thought she was just being friendly."

"You are slow at these things, aren't you?" Cain sighed while patting Joshua softly on the shoulder. "Or not… perhaps it's because your mind has never been on anyone else except her…"

His eyelids once again got closer as he was saying that.

"What?"

"Nevermind. Forget what I've just said." Cain denoted and switched the topic immediately. "Well, it's better you didn't sense Regina's so-called crush on you cus I happen to know that she likes you solely for your popularity."

"My popularity?"

"Remember what I said? Regina is the Queenbee. She needs attention. The spotlight! And being with you can give her exactly what she wants!" Cain explained. "You have the tricks of grabbing everyone's attention without losing them, man! It's extraordinary!" he exclaimed. "But the funniest thing about Regina is that even after exposing her twisted personality, she still has the guts to act like she's the victim to gain her Wannabees' sympathy!" He sounded fascinated by the human behaviour he had observed and gave a chuckle before he carried on, "It's so interesting that people were judging her a minute ago for her… extremely disrespectful comment about Alivia Hestia and now they actually fell for her act…, no, more like, allow her to continue her act simply because she's the principal's daughter!" He shook his head with a sneer on his face, whispering,

"You humans are so unpredictable… so unpredictable…", while his eyes darted towards the crowd around Regina.

Lines continued to form on Joshua's forehead and his lips remained pouted. "I really didn't mean to hurt her feelings, you know, but-"

"Oh stop worrying about her, bro! She's not upset anymore. She's just throwing a tantrum at the moment…" Cain assured once he wavered his gaze from Regina. "Because you didn't become one of her trophies." His hands gestured an air-quote at the word "trophies".

"Trophy?"

"Don't Ashley and Regina sit like four rows away from you? How can you possibly have heard what they have said?" Joshua doubted. "And you talk about everything like you could read their minds...like you could read everyone's mind."
