Twenty Sided Dice

Chapter 16: Hub Fort Three

Siegel picked a clump of subterranean orchids and walked in first as a torch, followed by Little Thumb. The path is paved with cobblestone and winds its way under the ground. The two people didn't know how deep they were from the ground, and there were no tree roots that could come out of the soil, so they were probably very deep into the ground. After walking for about ten minutes, the path finally came to an end, and they saw that the passage was blocked by a gate with a yellowish light behind it.

The oil lamp went out at this time, and there were only a few dill plants left in Siegel's hands, so the two of them each took a small handful. They looked closer to the door, only to realize that it was actually the backsplash of a wardrobe from which the light came in.

The two held their breaths and put their ears close to the wardrobe, only to hear something talking on the opposite side. The voice was mixed with a lot of nasals and plosives, with occasional severe teeth grinding, which Siegel didn't understand at all.

However, Little Thumb's face was pale, and he tightly grasped the bluegrass in his hand.

Fortunately, after a while, the voice left, along with the light under the wardrobe. Little Thumb only dared to act at this time. He touched the wooden board. He didn't know what the mechanism was, but the wooden board opened with a click, forming a small door.

There was not a single piece of clothing in the closet, the door of the closet was half-closed, and a lot of thick cobwebs filled the closet. Siegel swept away the cobwebs and jumped in first.

It was originally a bedroom, but for some reason it was built underground. It was surrounded by icy stone walls, and there was no exit except for a rotten wooden door.

Judging from the debris left on the ground, there used to be a large bed here, which was the main reason why the two of them judged that this was a bedroom. Next to the wardrobe is a dresser with only one leg left, and the bronze mirror has long been rusted and completely non-reflective. The chandelier on the ceiling had fallen to pieces on the ground, and the remaining wax dripped all over the floor. There was a thick layer of dust throughout the room, and there were two huge rows of footprints on the ground.

In the drawer of the dresser, there was only a pair of pearl earrings in the corner, which naturally also went into the pocket.

Outside the gate is a long corridor, and the long carpets laid on the ground in the past were crumpled and abandoned like garbage. There are candlesticks hanging on the walls, but there is no light right now. The two of Siegel held up the glowing bluegrass and stepped out on the footprints on the ground.

The room with the secret door running through is at the innermost part of the corridor, and this is the only room in the corridor that is more than 20 meters long. On the walls on both sides, there are many aphorisms carved, such as "anger can only bring harm" and "sympathy and compassion are the greatest virtues" and so on.

At the end of the corridor is a spiral staircase, which leads up to nowhere. One side of the wall collapsed, revealing a large hole. Malt pointed out to Siegel that the stairs were clean, and the footprints were extending in the direction of the big hole.

"Where should we go next?" Siegel asked.

"The treasure is upstairs." So the two immediately determined the direction.

Above the spiral staircase is a sliding door that can be opened by gently pulling the chain. Then Siegel and Malt climbed up and found they were back on the ground, and it was a huge study. The room is luxuriously decorated, with a sun sign carved into the ceiling, a tall statue on one side of the room, and a sliding trapdoor from behind the statue.

The house was empty, but everything was neat and it looked like someone was in charge of cleaning it. The floor was covered with thick woolen blankets and some soft, thick cushions. Three large floor-to-ceiling windows, decorated with transparent stained glass, open on either side of the walls. Against the windowless wall, there are large bookcases and some storage cabinets for delicate items.

A large desk is in front of the statue, all black, but one leg is red. Little finger crawled directly under the desk, fiddled with it for a long time, and finally opened a secret box.

There was a large roll of paper in it, Little Thumb opened it and looked at it, then happily said, "I found it."

Siegel has been observing this room, and he found that the faces of the people in the room are familiar, and the badges on the wall seem to have been seen somewhere. He walked to the window and looked out, and found that he happened to be in the inner city of the hub, which was the residence of Viscount Kira.

So the squid grabbed the little finger and asked, "Actually, this isn't your treasure room, is it?"

Little Thumb is not in a hurry, shakes the scroll in his hand, shakes it open, and shows it to the squid: "Let's see what's written here?"

Siegel tilted his head to read, and found that this was the bloodline certificate to prove the bloodline and inheritance rights of a Mr. After this certificate, there are portraits, family tree diagrams and a will.

"With these things, this is my treasure room." Little Thumb pulled his hand back and said, "Okay, we can go."

The two of them sneaked back the same way, going down from the sliding door behind the statue to the spiral staircase. They didn't take two steps when suddenly they heard footsteps coming from below, accompanied by that "nasal, gnashing and plowing" language. A ferocious and huge shadow slowly protruded from the hole at the bottom of the stairs and extended on the opposite wall.

The two hurriedly tucked the glowing bluegrass in their hands under their clothes and pressed them firmly. Siegel felt nervous all over, and his intuition would not be anything good, so he put his hand on the handle of the machete.

The shadows are getting bigger and bigger, and the footsteps are getting clearer. Soon, the owner of the shadow came out of the hole. This is a strong giant with a height of more than two meters. There are many raised sarcomas on the top of the bald head, the yellow-brown skin is covered with weed-like body hair, and the strong arms are almost down to the ground.

This monster has protruding fangs, and its mouth almost reaches the base of its ears. It was this mouth that kept making that strange noise that was annoying.

Holding a lantern in one hand and a mace in the other, the monster scolded and entered the long corridor. Siegel and the others waited for a while, and the monster really came back, got into the hole and left.

Fortunately, this guy never looked up.

"Do you know what kind of monster that is?" Siegel asked.

"It's a troll." Little Thumb said unnaturally with a stiff expression.

Siegel just thought he was frightened and didn't ask any more questions. He escorted him away from the secret passage and climbed up the well again. Malt told Siegel to keep it a secret and gave him one of the pair of earrings. Siegel didn't want it, because he had already promised not to divide the treasure.

"Well, it's not about sharing the treasure, it's a gift I gave you." Little Thumb shoved an earring and said, "Are you my friend?"

"Uh... I think it's fine." Siegel scratched his head and said, "If you forgive me for almost bumping into you, then we'll be friends."

"I think you're stingy sometimes!" Malt waved his hand and said goodbye to Siegel with a sack with a teapot on his back: "Remember, don't say anything about bloodline proofs!"

The two separated like this, and Siegel led the colt back to the hotel. As a result, not only Sir Bill and Master Leia were not there, but even Jeff didn't come back. Siegel spent the whole night thinking about the troll that kept him awake. He didn't understand why the troll was there, or why the guy kept patrolling. Does the Viscount of the Hub know that evil creatures have been hiding under his castle?

He originally wanted to report the discovery to Viscount Kira, but he couldn't think of how to explain the process of discovering the troll. It just so happened that there was no one to talk to right now, so Siegel could only toss and turn, and didn't sleep for almost the whole night.

At dawn the next day, the young man made up his mind. He left a letter on the table explaining the location and circumstances of the troll sightings, then got fully armed and prepared to visit the cave again. If he didn't find out what the trolls were trying to do, he would never be at ease.

He followed the secret passage and re-entered the room under the castle. The lifeless environment here was suffocating, and the thought that a troll might appear at any time made Siegel very nervous. He tiptoed and slid forward against the corner of the wall, lit by the firefly moss pinned to his wrist. Of the several types of glowing plants that can be found, firefly moss is the dimmer.

After drilling into the large broken hole in the wall, he found that it was a natural cave with an underground river running through the front. The river is more than two meters wide, and there are no fish or water plants in it. Siegel, worried that he would make too much noise jumping over, took off his shoes, rolled up his trousers and waded across the river. The water was unusually cold, but Siegel didn't care.

After crossing the river, the cave continued to descend, and an unusual stench became stronger and stronger. On both sides of the potholes, you can find some casual discards, mostly the remains of food and other rubbish. Some little mice burrowed over the rubbish, looking at the uninvited guests with their little yellow eyes. The naturally formed cave reverted to a stone wall at a turn ahead, where there was a faint glow.

When looking out of the corner, Siegel felt a breeze, with an even stronger stench. A bonfire that was about to go out was in the center of the room, with a pot on it, emitting a scorching stench, and two huge trolls were lying beside them sleeping.

The ground was a mess, and there was almost no room for a foothold. Siegel saw chicken feathers, trampled tomatoes and potatoes, and an empty pile of overturned wine bottles. There are many wooden shields hanging on the walls of the room, and several large wine barrels are piled under them, with the logo of "Job's house" written on them. Several huge two-handed swords were thrown at random beside the barrel. The sword was poorly maintained and covered in rust, but the trolls didn't care, they were more on their own than martial arts.

At this time, there was a rumbling sound from above, and then I saw a shield on the wall was knocked aside, revealing the sloping passage behind. A sack rolled and slid out from behind the passage, and it could be felt that the sack contained a living creature, still struggling and clucking. The mouth of the bag was tightly tied, and the contents could not escape.

The troll was awakened by the sound, turned over, and slapped the bag with his huge palm, once, twice. Then there was no movement in the bag, only some blood penetrated the sack and slowly flowed out. Satisfied that he had turned off the alarm clock, the troll continued to sleep in.

Then, a package the size of a lunch box slid down the aisle and gently landed on the sack. Siegel used the bonfire to find that it should be a book wrapped in sheepskin, with a letter tied with silk thread on the outside. The envelope is glued with red sealing wax, and the badge on the sealing wax can be vaguely seen.

The squid felt that this letter would be of great use, and wanted to bring it over. But the **** is lying next to the pile of things, and will wake them up if they are not careful. Siegel hesitated for a moment, then made up his mind, held his breath, and walked over gently with his mouth covered.
