Hmm… I feel like I’m in a dream…

Well, just now, I was certainly on my bed…

Nice to meet you. I’m your guide. I’ll be explaining the story of this BL game, ‘Dolce/Bitter/Sugar’.

…Mn? I think I’m hearing a voice that sounds like it belongs to a shop attendant from somewhere…It’s quite different from Delusion-kun…It’s an unknown voice of a lady… Have I just gained a new delusion, Delusion-chan? Frankly, I’m not happy about this…Should I go get counselling…?

This BL game, popularly known as D/B/S1 is set in a world where men can get pregnant; the game starts when the MC, David Kryner, a son of a Baron, enrols in Janvangar College. Depending on the way in which David spends his school life, alongside with whom and when he could form a relationship, the game will meet its bitter ending or a sugar ending.

Game? Ending? I don’t know what you’re talking about… But, Janvangar College? Hey, I know that!

It’s a college attended by all nobles. The enrollment is easy-peasy, but the periodic examinations are so difficult that only the truly excellent could remain at the college until graduation. Isn’t that the well-known elite school of our country? When I turn 16, I’ll also enter this school, though I’m not sure if I can safely graduate. They say there’s really only a small fraction of the student body who could graduate, after all. From hearsays, even if 500 students enrol, only 100 will remain until graduation. Wow.

There, David encounters a variety of people and deepens his bonds. This time, I’ll explain about one of the characters that David gets along with really well and, in that process, eventually becomes his lover—Theodore.

Hn? Theodore? Is that the Theodore from our household?

The Theodore that David meets is a lone wolf who’s always by himself. He is a twisted character, one that has lost trust in people. He is averse to interacting with others; even in college, David could only see him during classes. He is a magic knight with high potential affiliated to the country of Janvangar and is always equipped with his weapon to be on standby for duty.

Hmph! Totally different! My Theodore always looks after me without me asking for it—a busybody if I may say so. Lone wolf? The Theodore I have here is a motherly character disguised as a pretty boy, alright. They’re different people, yep! On top of that, Our Theodore is not attending any college!

Anyway, Theodore’s past was a sad and dark one. He was born into a Count as an illegitimate child dumped by his mother. Although his father picked him up, his step-siblings all abused him; he could barely eat. He, who had lost all hope in life, was sold to a Ducal family as compensation for an unpaid debt and became the Duke’s adopted child. And there, a chance to change his life came upon him. He was actually blessed with a heavenly talent and magical power that was virtually bottomless. The Duke saw the potential in him: Theodore could bring out his abilities in full display enabling him to be both knight and mage. He was extolled as the youngest and also the most talented knight in history. However, that didn’t lead him to a happy life. His foster brother—the Duke’s son—was jealous of him and bore a grudge. Theodore was massively bullied and harassed on a daily basis.

Uwah…This Theodore also led a life full of twists and turns. Although my Theodore also didn’t have it easy, but to be bullied by his foster brother, that’s too terrible. The other had authority, power and money; it must’ve been so tough.

Theodore’s food was not poisoned, but condiments were poured in, rendering them unpalatable. Theodore faced false charges of cheating in official matches and was hurt multiple times during training. The magic instructors were also ordered not to let Theodore learn magic. His foster brother used any means possible to destroy Theodore’s everything. He used his position as the first prince’s close aide to black out Theodore’s achievements or even steal the credit to raise his reputation. He also scattered rumours among the high society that Theodore was a child of a demonic tribe from the enemy’s country2. Other than that, he also pulled some strings and fabricated crime charges on Theodore like tax evasion3, rape, and lese majeste—among others.

So terrible… from childish pranks to things that are not even laughing matter, he really did them all. Just as expected from a prince’s close aide, the harassment done by a young master of a ducal house sure was on a whole different scale. Tax evasion, rape, and lese majeste—those crimes could be easily set up by hiring people after all. For instance, for rape, just get a girl to lure him into a honey trap where the girl could just scream once they were alone and the deed’s practically done.

Theodore is wise, so he managed to avoid all those schemes. However, Theodore continued to be approached by the people hired by his foster brother; this led him to lose trust in others and, eventually, he never opened his heart to anybody again.

That’s the obvious conclusion…

There, at the college, David leans by Theodore’s side despite Theodore’s deep distrust in others. Theodore first doubts his intentions and keeps his distance, but David keeps trying to establish a positive rapport with him and, gradually, Theodore’s heart cracks open. His period of loneliness finally comes to an end.

Wow, that’s great!

Afterwards, David and Theodore arrive at a resolution: to censure that foster brother, Urschel, and get him convicted.

Urschel… isn’t that my name!! What a bad omen!! I-I’m not that kind of person, okay?! Hey, won’t this give a bad reputation to my name?? But well, as a Minusle, he must certainly be well versed in a bit of scheming, ploys—all the stratagems… Or rather, was there anyone who could win against a ducal house? Theodore and David couldn’t possibly win against their high status and strong financial power.

Theodore and David have made the second prince, Prince Carlos, their ally.

Royalty? Certainly, that’s useful!! With this, did they make a dramatic turn-around??

With Prince Carlos as their backer, the both of them succeed in publicly censuring Urschel during the college’s graduation party over his crimes, clearing Theodore’s name and resulting in Urschel’s conviction.

…Wha-?

Afterwards, they live happily ever after…!

Wait a moment!!! College graduation party; isn’t that a major event held under the auspices of His Majesty?!! This party celebrates the students setting off to become elites in the national government… In other words, it’s a party to celebrate them becoming the king’s loyal retainers. Attempting to ruin such an important occasion by interrupting it simply for a personal matter or even a personal grudge—that’s tantamount to throwing mud straight to His Majesty’s face, you know!!! No doubt, not only would Urschel have been convicted, Theodore and David, and even Prince Carlos who supported them, would be sentenced, alright!?!? It might be different since this is a game or something, but in reality, this is beyond bad!!! Not-my-lil-brother-Theodore! If you still wish for your head to be on your body, you gotta stop this!

The convicted Urschel was also discovered to have deceived the first prince, Prince Leodore, with intentions to control the country from the shadows. He is executed for treason and various other criminal charges.

As I thought, Urschel had his head separated from his body!! His name is the same as mine—listening to this leaves such a bad aftertaste… By the way, this type of guy who thoroughly abuses his foster brother and also wanted to control the country, lately I think I know someone like him from somewhere very near… it feels eerily familiar… I wonder who it is…

Ah! It’s Delusion-kun…

That Delusion-kun who weaved the illusion that his voice was my own thoughts… No way… That couldn’t be me.
