White Necromancer – C7

I am attending a village rally today with my grandfather. Autumn is just around the corner, so the meeting will be about the harvest festival.

The meeting place is the village mayor’s house. Participants are men who are representatives of each house. The other participants are unaccompanied and the reason why I was there is a mystery. I have a bad feeling somehow…

“Well, it looks like everyone is ready.”

Billy, the village mayor, looks over the participants. His line of sight is sharp, and the spine of the men who are hit by its spines tingle.

Billy is an old man with a white and well-organized mustache. He seems to be a little younger than my grandfather, but his trained body doesn’t make him feel old.

He seems to have been a swordfighter when he was young, and he still hunts goblins and orcs alone. I also hear rumors that he has mastered the highest caste of swordsmanship.

Grandpa has compared the village mayor with the wise men of mercy. It is no exaggeration to say that this Celtic village is headed by the village mayor and grandfather.

“Let’s get started. Let’s talk about the harvest festival first.”

Billy the mayor tells in a low voice. No one was talking and all were listening to the voice with the utmost concentration. The village mayor confirms that no one has anything to add and continues talking.

“It seems that Kane will come again this year. It seems that he will arrive three days before the harvest festival, and he will stay at my house as usual.”

The words brightened the atmosphere of the place. Everyone keeps their mouths closed, but their eyes show that they are happy.

Mr. Kane is a traveling bard. He comes during the festival and he entertains everyone with song. In this lacking in entertaining prospect village, traveling stories are also a valuable pleasure for the villagers.

“Next, the sake will be prepared at the party, but thanks to everyone’s donations, it seems that we will be able to prepare more than last year. We also ask Hans, who worked hard to procure, for words of hard work.”

There was Hans in front of the line of sight of Mayor Billy. Hans is scratching his head as if shy. The warm gaze around him seems embarrassing.

…… But I knew the truth. The funds for the harvest festival are funded by the sale of goods brought by all the villagers. And half of this year’s money comes from magical tools provided by Grandpa. Thats why grandfather was enthusiastic.

“As usual, I’ll ask the village ladies for the food. William will provide the meat and Tom will provide the vegetables. I’ll thank everyone later.”

Two men were sitting side by side in front of the line of sight of Mayor Billy. One is William, a quiet man. He is a young father, 25-year-old, Gilly’s father and a high-level hunter.

The other is Tom, a man who is over thirty. He is kind and strong. He is a hard-working man who cultivates the largest fields in the village.

William raises his hand lightly and then gently closes his eyes. Tom was happy to wave to everyone.

“And finally, the role of a saint who prays, but from this year he will change to Alex.”

“Huh……?”

I open my mouth to the words of Mayor Billy. I thought it was a mistake, but Billy’s eyes were definitely on me.

“I’ve left it to Gale for the last decade, but it’s time to switch to the younger generation. Isn’t there any particular opposition?”

“Hohohoho. I don’t know when the eagle will die.”

Gale is the name of an old man. All the villagers call me a wise man, so I sometimes forget about it.

And the role of a saint is a role to give thanks to the fertility god. The saint role is the protagonist of the harvest festival, an event that takes place at the same time as sunset. My grandfather had been doing it for a long time, but I didn’t expect the role to come to me as a five-year-old child.

“I’m the saint?”

“That’s right. Is it okay with Alex?”

Mayor Billy asks kindly. He doesn’t think he will be turned down, he seems to be asking formally.

I was confused and turned my attention to all the participants. Grandpa was staring at me with gentle eyes. And most of the men were staring at me with grinning eyes.

So that’s it. Does it mean that other than me all the other options have been rooted?

“… Yes. It’s a big role, but I’ll do my best.”

“Um. Alex is his grandpas grandson. He doesn’t have to worry about anything.”

Mayor Billy nodded with satisfaction. The men of the participants also began to clap their hands with warm eyes. I look back at everyone with a bitter smile. You have to think positively.

“Okay, this is the place for the harvest festival. Next is the problem in the village. It’s a little early, but I hope Alex will join us.”

…… No, I’m a five-year-old child? It ’s not more then a little early?

Without knowing my inner feelings, Mayor Billy started talking. The men, including the grandfather, naturally accepted the flow. Well, I decided to listen to the story until the end, thinking that this was also an experience as a villager.
