Practical Skills for Hunters [Part 2]

♠♠♠

After every student taking Practical Skills for Hunters finished changing clothes, they moved to the dedicated sports ground and began the lesson.

“Practical Skills for Hunters (Beginner) will mostly focus on building stamina. We will do long training runs today.”

The teacher dropped an instruction for the students to follow him before he started running.

“P-Professor! How many laps exactly are we going to run?”

One of the students asked, already out of breath.

“Two hours.”

“ “ “ “ “ “Eh?” ” ” ” ” ”

“I have never counted how many laps that is. We will keep running for two hours for today’s class.”

“ “ “ “ “ “Huh?” ” ” ” ” ”

“Keep yourself hydrated at your own timing. There is a water station in the middle of the sports ground. When you want to drink, run to that point and return quickly after rehydrating.”

“ “ “ “ “ “Eek?!” ” ” ” ” ”

“Your breathing will become irregular if you talk too much, got that? Keep a constant pace. Because once you get the hang of it, you will be able to run for two hours steadily in no time, okay?”

Right after enrollment, the first Practical Skills for Hunters class was the lap-running of hell.

For these students who had been spoiled since the moment they were born as a son of a noble family, for the first time in their life they experienced the harshness of the world.

“*pant pant* …So hard! There’s no way I can run for 2 hours…”

“*pant pant* …I have underestimated the lesson a little…”

William and Joshua couldn’t hide their surprise at this unexpected lesson.

“Huh? Joshua, you have looked into the information surrounding the academy to an extent, right? You didn’t know the info about this class?”

“*pant pant*… I’ve only looked into the subjects Emma-sama takes.”

Even while panting, Joshua replied crisply to George, who found it unexpected for Joshua to not know anything.

“*pant pant*… Still more than an hour left…?”

“You guys better don’t chat too much, you know? Your mouth is also dry, right?”

“Nii-sama! Why?! *pant pant* aren’t you *pant pant* …out of breath at all?!”

William, Joshua, and other noble sons were all running desperately with a grimace, while only George had a nonchalant air.

“Hm? The teacher already said it, didn’t he? Get the hang of it. At this pace, you can run for as long as you want, you know? This is much easier than last year when we were chasing Emma at full speed, right, William?”

“Isn’t your stamina lower than that time?” George looked at his younger brother in wonder.

“N-Nii-sama… *pant pant* Were you a gorilla… in your past life?”

You sure you weren’t reincarnated into a gorilla once between your two lives as Wataru and George? William suspected it quite seriously.

“What the… Gorilla, you said… If you want to be brought along to the hunt as a full-fledged hunter, it will be tough to join if you are already out of breath with just this, y’know?”

Let alone before coming of age, George had already become a part of the hunters’ fighting force before he enrolled in the academy. He actually held tremendous stamina and combat capabilities.

“Huh? Is that guy staggering? …Is it dehydration? I’m gonna go take a quick look.”

George found a student one or more laps behind the rest, wobbling in front of him. He sped up and headed to take care of that student.

“…*pant pant*… Nii-sama… is no doubt, a gorilla…”

Seeing George speaking to the student who looked to be in pain, running to fetch water, and moreover, picking up his speed even more to report to the teacher who was running in front of him, William was shocked and could hardly believe the same blood as George was flowing through him.

William once again realized that his older brother George’s situational awareness, leadership, and intuition were so impeccable that it made him feel guilty for making fun of his brother.

The late eldest son’s attentiveness and skillfulness in taking care of someone also made him suitable to be a hunter, a profession that prioritized teamwork above all.

It’s just that he was awfully terrible at studying.

William sighed at his older brother’s disappointing point.

Being born under an unlucky star with disappointments following them everywhere was the trait of the Tanaka family. Being one of the Tanakas, William was also a pretty disappointing lad. Though it seemed like everyone was blind to their own shortcomings.

“ “So tireddd…” ”

William and Joshua slumped on their desks.

“I didn’t expect he would really make us run for two hours…”

After his breath was finally back to normal, William looked around the classroom and whispered weakly. Many students were even more exhausted than he and Joshua inside the classroom he surveyed.

“It’s the first time I’ve run this much…”

Joshua had also trained his body a little since a year ago, but he couldn’t hide his tiredness.

“No, no, no. You guys… It was almost the same pace as walking from halfway through the run, you know?”

George alone looked nonchalant as he replied.

The Practical Skills for Hunters (Beginner) class ended with just them running around the academy’s sports ground for two whole hours.

The one who ran at the same pace as the teacher until the end was only George.

For things that only needed physical strength and not using brains, of course it would be George’s sole win.

The noble sons, who at first took George lightly because he was a rural aristocrat from a borderland, were now looking at him with eyes full of respect.

“…Nii-sama, do you still remember? Our goal in the Royal Capital.”

“Hm? At any rate, don’t stand out, right? ……Ah.”

Accomplishing their goal in the Royal Capital was more difficult than expected.
