The Rise of the Empire

Chapter 15 The Mistake of History!

This is an opportunity and a challenge! Ruprecht defines the meaning of this trip in this way. Now I am about to step onto the big stage of the world! I am no longer an otaku who hides in a corner of Bavaria and climbs the technological tree with the protection and help of his family! All this happened so quickly that the prince was not fully prepared. However, using the last period of time, he still listed an approximate timetable!

William II and Tirpitz are sure to meet, and Prince William will issue an invitation, although Tirpitz is not as prosperous as in history. But by now he should already have a relationship with the future prince. The two are in agreement on the naval issue, but in the face of a strong prime minister, the historical speed of military expansion may not be achieved.

In fact, Ruprecht did not agree with Germany's naval construction in the pre-fearless period. Because as a time traveler, he knows very well that he will not be able to fight wars in the next 20 years. If William II still offends a large group of people and a war breaks out after he came to power, then the pre-dreadnoughts built now are very few to use! The current choice of the German Navy should be the same as that of the United States in the early days of Fearless, taking small steps and running fast. Improve your shipbuilding level through continuous improvements and builds, laying the foundation for future fearless ages! And now the cost performance of building cruisers is really higher than that of battleships. Cruisers can continue to be thrown overseas as destroyers after modification, while battleships have no potential!

The current Prince William doesn't have any rights. I went this time just to establish a good relationship with him, and then ask him to help me so that the Munich-class armored cruiser can win the bid! Of course, in order to satisfy His Majesty the Crown Prince's hobby of the navy, it is still necessary to give him a large-scale silver-plated model.

As for Tirpitz? What I want to say to him is even more important than what I said to Prince William! The traveler hopes that Tirpitz can give up his so-called risk fleet theory, because this theory has been proved by history to be useless at all! At the same time, let him think about what the Germans should do if the British do not use the offshore blockade if they want to go to war in the North Sea!

Does risk fleet theory work? Let's first look at its theory. Germany must build a fleet strong enough that the world's number one naval power cannot easily fight with it. If it does, it will suffer heavy losses and lose sea power! Then some people said, that's right, isn't it because of the First World War that Britain declined and then lost its dominance of the ocean?

Wrong, totally wrong! The key to risk fleet theory is deterrence! That is to make the other party dare not move and accept your request, instead of saying that you and the other party will die together! This is like nuclear weapons in the 21st century. For nuclear powers, nuclear weapons are deterrent when they are in the warehouse. The point of the Risk Fleet is not to bring Britain down at all! After pulling Britain down, Germany is also finished. What is the significance of the Germans formulating this strategy? Is it to make Americans cheaper?

In other words, when Britain decided to fight Germany, the risk fleet theory had failed, because the German fleet could not deter the opponent. On the contrary, this theory led to the opponent's more crazy violence! When Churchill proposed that he could not wait and started construction of 8 dreadnoughts a year, Germany had already lost!

Another problem is that the Germans have a problem with their understanding of sea power. The Germans believe that sea power is exclusive, and everyone wants to control the world's oceans, so Britain needs to face opponents from all sides. In fact, the British slapped the Germans in the face with practical actions! After Russia failed in the Russo-Japanese War, Britain and France bought Russia with pounds and francs. Through the transfer and coordination of various interests, Britain and France finally stood together. The French were in charge of the Mediterranean, while the British fleet concentrated on the mainland to block the German fleet.

When the world's second-largest German navy held back the world's number one British navy, other countries not only did not take advantage of the fire, but quickly sided with the British.

Needless to say, the French and the Germans have enmity, and Japan has also honestly maintained the basics of the Far East. The most surprising thing is Italy, a member of the original ally, who chose to stand with the British after several weighings! This is really a rather ironic thing! The British Empire used the transfer of interests and flexible diplomacy to make as many countries as possible ally with itself! This is a trick that the Germans couldn't play back then!

And from a historical point of view, the British realized the relativity of the British Empire's sea power very early! For some countries that the United Kingdom is destined to not be able to provoke, the United Kingdom learned to compromise very early, and this country is the United States! To some extent, the pace of expansion in the United States after 1880 was not slow at all! Compared with what Germany has done, it is more than inferior! In the mid-1980s, there was a friction between the United States and Japan in Hawaii, and they almost didn't make a move. In the end, Japan admitted its cowardice. In 1989, Germany and the United States misfired in Samoa. If it wasn't for God's disapproval, it's hard to say what would happen.

In 1898, it was the world-famous Spanish-American War. The Americans beat the Spaniards cleanly within 100 days, taking Cuba and the Philippines into their pockets. Then came the Open Door Policy and the Monroe Doctrine. Putting these two policies together means that the United States will enjoy the same rights as you within the sphere of power of your other countries, but in the Americas, this is my private land, and you are not allowed to intervene. How overbearing is this thing? Not to mention that the Great White Fleet later traveled around the world, saying that it came for peace, do you believe it?

How arrogant! How overbearing! As for Germany, except that William II couldn't control his mouth, the actual actions are actually far worse than that of the United States! Later generations say that the time of the Kruger telegraph in 1896 led to an outbreak of Anglo-German animosity. This is true, but it is not only Germany, but also the United States that is also at odds with Britain during the year! Compared with the content and events in the Kruger telegram, the actions of the Americans in 1896 were more intense!

Just half a month before the Kruger telegram incident. US President Cleveland intervenes in the border dispute between the UK and Venezuela. Citing sectarianism, the President of the United States said in his State of the Union address: "Americans believe that the British have invaded the land that originally belonged to Venezuela. This behavior has endangered the rights and interests of the United States. The United States will use various means to resist it." From the wording, This State of the Union address is much tougher than the Kruger telegram. In terms of actual actions, the Germans did nothing but talk, but the Americans interfered.

But in the face of the same provocateur, the British resolutely avoided the powerful United States, and even Joseph Chamberlain said in his heart to British Prime Minister Salisbury: "It is not important to fight back against any enemy, it is important It is we who should fight back against one of the enemies!"

The difference between the United States and Germany lies in two points, one of which is the stinky mouth of Kaiser Wilhelm II on the surface. But fundamentally it is the power of the Americans! What can the British do to the United States? Even if there is no navy, the United States is still the United States, and it may even get rid of Canada. The British had nothing to do with the US emperor long ago, so they simply didn't provoke it!

Did the British interfere in America after 1900? No! When the United States expanded, did the British stop it? nor! On the contrary, the Spanish fleet that attacked the Philippines set off from Hong Kong! The Germans also had ideas about the Philippines, but they were warned by the British! Can't these things be explained? The sea power of the British is not exclusive! Share with others when necessary!

After the war, the British Empire used treaties to gain equal sea power with the more powerful United States. And Germany seems to be able to learn from this aspect. After all, even if the German navy tried its best to violently fight, by the time of the Battle of Jutland, the total tonnage of the dreadnought was only half of that of the opponent! In terms of the total tonnage of warships, the gap is even greater. This is no different from the proportion of the agreement proposed by the British side between Britain and Germany.

The fate of Germany in World War 1 was at sea. If the proportion of the British and German navies can be limited to a certain range through an agreement, and then the remaining funds are used for the army and material reserves, it will undoubtedly be of great help to the war situation! The final battle of sea power still depends on the fearless era more than ten years later, and it is too early to enter a naval armament prematurely. It is not good to stimulate Britain too early. The intensification of the conflict between Britain and Russia is still very useful to Germany. Russia must lose, but Britain and Japan will shed more blood!
