The Rest, Only Noise

Chapter 268: Make Tonight Eternal (16/125)

What is the clearest sign a team has before winning a championship?

It must be to convince everyone that this year belongs to them.

For more than half a year, the Celtics have proven themselves.

For the first two quarters of the night, their performance got better as time went by, with Bird playing at 100 percent.

He was in such good shape that Louie was reluctant to replace him.

When he scored three consecutive points and pulled the difference to 15 points, there were still four minutes left in the first half.

Louie didn't want to see players play for too long and get injured, so he replaced Bird.

He stood on the sidelines with no end in sight, giving his teammates a rare boost of encouragement.

The last time he was so devoted to the game was the legendary 1-3 reversal of the 76ers' series in 1981.

49 to 34

The Celtics had a 15-point lead, and Bird's performance completely overwhelmed Magic.

With Bird off the court, Magic seemed to want to turn the score back.

He tried so, only to be hit by the Celtics and made a mistake.

Maxwell was on a fast break, and Wilkins tried his best to catch up with him, interfering, and then he couldn't do anything else.

He fouled and Maxwell went to the free throw line.

"You're finished, you know?" Maxwell exclaimed arrogantly. "Not our opponent at all. The championship belongs to Boston, and the glory belongs to the Celtics!"

Louie yelled, "Stop talking nonsense, Cedric, take a free throw!"

Maxwell hit one of two free throws.

This is a fly in the ointment, but it has little impact.

At the end of the first half, Bird stood up and gave each teammate a high five. You could see the smile on his face, and he was happy from the bottom of his heart.

Accustomed to his usual arrogant and stern appearance, seeing the passionate Bird made it difficult for Louis to reverse his impression for a while.

Isn't that what a magician looks like?

Speaking of the magician, Louis turned his eyes to the opposite side.

In terms of overall morale, the Lakers have given up trying to win, with Magic's every body language saying "Mom, I want to go home."

At halftime, the Celtics led by 17 points.

In an interview with CBS's midfielder, Louie mentioned his thoughts: "I regret that the Lakers did not play the best level, we should have played six or seven games, but now it seems that this round of series will be played tonight. It's over."

The CBS reporter didn't expect Louie to say that.

They asked tentatively, "Coach Lu, do you mean the Celtics will win the championship after the game?"

Sometimes, being too modest can be disgusting.

Anyone with basic common sense about the game of basketball will come to a conclusion.

"I don't see a single factor preventing us from winning the title," Louie said affirmatively. "It's tonight."

The words are bound to reach Riley's ears, and then he will find a way to use Louie's words to stimulate the dead players.

If he can do it, he will still play in the second half. If he can't do it, it is not impossible that there will be garbage time in the half game.

Louie wants the Lakers to hold on and not fall so quickly.

In his memory, the 1984 finals was a classic decisive battle with seven rounds.

It's one of the top five, if not the greatest series in NBA history, if not the top three.

If the Celtics won five championships this year and even played garbage time in the season finale, would this series be considered a classic?

While five games to end the series would make people misjudge the Lakers' strength, thinking they're not on the same level as the Celtics.

But as long as the fans who have watched the first four games in their entirety will know that these two teams belong to the same level.

The Celtics are just the better team in every way.

Especially the third game, it is simply the strength gap between the Celtics Big Three and the Lakers star in absolute strength.

Louis returned to the locker room, and the noisy room suddenly quieted down.

Louie doesn't like to say empty words and lies. Next may be his last training session this season. What will he say?

"You know what? When I took the job, I promised Reed that I would make you what you should be."

"This is actually a big word. Human beings are too complicated. The exposed side of everyone is not the most real side. All of us are special individuals who yearn to be understood but will never be understood."

Louie's voice was soft, but the locker room was so quiet that he could even hear his breathing, so his tone didn't matter.

"I want to see a team that can't be beat, and I've seen it."

"I want to see a smart, sneaky and hateful team, and I've seen it."

"I want to see a bunch of talented guys working selflessly for the same goal," Louie said with satisfaction. "I swear I saw it."

Louie's voice rose, like an adrenaline injection.

"There are many problems in this team, even each of you is a problem for me, but the answer to this problem is not me, but yourself. It is you who need to face the problem, you face yourself Desires, struggles, team and individual choices are the biggest conundrums in the world, and I'm glad to see each of you making the right choices."

Louie said excitedly: "This is why you can't be defeated. You have consolidated your hearts, approached the game with a pragmatic attitude, firm belief, and full of desire. Believe me, as long as you keep your original intention and put your teammates in your heart, Forget those selfish desires, five years... no, in ten years, no team will be able to beat you."

"Just go ahead, you have reached the highest hall in the basketball world, go win the championship, and make tonight eternal!"

In the small and tightly closed locker room, the Celtics players jumped up, they clapped, high-fives, cheered each other, all hands folded together, shouted a slogan, and then rushed out of the room full of fighting spirit, Back to the field.

They were ready to end the Lakers and win games with unprecedented dominance.

K.C. Jones was standing behind Louie and the players had left and he was still there.

"A 100-point speech." K.C laughed.

Louie responded with a smile: "Because we have 100-point players."

Next, Louie returns to the scene with K.C.

In the second half, as expected by Louie, his words were used as fodder for motivating the players and successfully awakened their dormant fighting spirit.

It is a pity that the Celtics have been beaten with blood, and everyone has come up with high-intensity offensive and defensive pressure.

Wilkins missed a strong attack at the basket, Abdul-Jabbar grabbed the rebound and wanted to hook a near-basket, but was blocked by Sampson.

Magic came in and grabbed the second offensive rebound, waiting for another block from Sampson.

Isaiah Thomas shot forward like an arrow from the string. When he was at full speed, the Lakers had nothing to do. Watching him score a layup with a standard commoner, the difference between the two sides came to 19 points.

Abdul-Jabbar hopes to retain the dignity of the Lakers. He is tenacious in his position, trying to save the game and hit a hook.

That was his 22nd point of the night.

22 points, also the most points of the Lakers team.

The 37-year-old Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is the Lakers' stalwart, but the magician who can pick him up and wave it is trapped by the thoughts in his heart. The opponent's trash talk, the fans' boos, and the terrible self-doubt destroy his will.

He dribbles, rebounds, and passes on the court, but it's just his instincts, he's already a walking dead.

Louie didn't expect Magic to collapse in this way, and the pressure of the Finals, on him and on Bird, was enormous.

The difference is that Bird doesn't like the media, he blocks outside voices.

The magician is the darling of the media. He can't face the harsh press from the media, and he can't bear the fact that he was completely suppressed by Bird in the final.

The Lakers' massive impact on the restricted area gave the Celtics the best chance to defend.

Usually, the Celtics are not so tight on the restricted area defense.

Now they're craving **** on both ends of the floor, and every Lakers player trying to score from the paint is trying to defend.

For four consecutive rounds in the second half, the Lakers' breakthroughs were all interrupted, and no fouls were caused.

It's not the worst, the worst is that the Celtics' offense is inefficient, but the Lakers' rebounds are blown.

If you compare Kareem and Duncan, these two evergreen players took two different paths in their later years.

Duncan is a defense + rebound + takeover in desperate situations~www.novelmt.com~Jabbar only has offense. At the age of 41, in Game 7 of the 1988 Finals, the Lakers were still 1 point behind in the last half minute, and Riley was the result. Call a timeout to put the last shot and the chance to save the season in his hands. He fouled the Pistons, made two free throws, and sealed the victory.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar took on a heavy offensive task, which directly affected his rebound protection and rim protection.

From the third quarter onwards, the Celtics' desire to rush for offensive rebounds has greatly increased.

The Lakers even lost offensive rebounds, causing the Celtics to score in the second offense after grabbing the offensive rebound even if they didn't score in the positional battle.

The Lakers missed four times and the Celtics succeeded four times.

The difference suddenly widened to 20 points.

"Looks like there will be garbage time tonight."

Louie is sure that the Lakers are over.
