The Other Side of the Mask

67 Chapter 67: The Battle Goes Down

Because we already know the plans of the cult by 'attending' their meetings, we easily surround them. Efficiently wiping out the meager force, I sit back and enjoy the show in a faraway distance.

"W-what did you guys do?" Commander Yang asks incredulously.

"Ah, well a bit here and there…"

A day ago, XiaoLong and I snuck into the caves, quietly like a shadow. We dress as frantic locals and immediately find our targets: the lookouts.

"Aah! Lookout! Please, help me! I heard that BuNi (means No you) Kingdom found out about us and is going to attack our holy gathering!" I frantically yell with a ten out of ten acting.

"You too? MeiPengYou (means no friends) Kingdom is also going to! How dare they! We must report this!" XiaoLong acts along, pouting.

The lookout looks at us seriously, "We must report this. I will because I will get a better- ahem- I am more believable.

I muffle a snort and plaster a fake worried expression. After digging it in that it's super-duper important and real, XiaoLong and I leave, giving each other a smile and thumbs up.

An emergency meeting is given that night.

"Everyone, my apologies, due to some emergencies, we will revise our plan for the sake of our offering to the great God. We will be splitting our forces against all kingdoms, since it seems that other kingdoms have realized our presence and decided to ruin and tarnish our God's name. We must not allow such a disgusting thing to be created!" the man in black commands with force.

A couple worried voices come from below.

He snorts, "Don't worry, there is no way the Yue and Ri Kingdom know about us. Even if they know, they'll definitely underestimate the power of us and our god. We will prove to them our might, and our specialty!"

XiaoLong and I chuckled at the irony. Little did he know that his plans have come to ruin already.

Back at reality, the cultists are captured as they throw jeers at us, still thinking they're so important and special.

"How dare you lowly peasants!"

"Feel the wrath of our god!"

"We have the ultimate freedom chosen by the god.

Freedom, the one and only thing…"

They start singing and shouting about how freedom is so great, never abandoning anyone, the right of freedom, their god, etc. etc. So loud! Jeez.

"Shut. up." I command, glaring at the crowd of hypocrites, "Just what freedom do you mean. You can guarantee that you'll get freedom just by doing something? Have you ever actually experienced your god lending you a hand? Then why isn't he now?"

A cultist lunges forward, "Shut up!" he cried, knowing I am right.

XiaoLong pulls at my waist from behind. I glance back at his handsome face, somewhat angry.

Unexpectedly, I see a couple of cultists, pulling the rampaging one from behind, faces red of embarrassment. I plaster a smug, yet happy look. They'd better not tarnish freedom like that anymore!

The cultists obediently went into the dungeon awaiting their sentence. XiaoLong and I sigh in relief, finding our plan working quite well.
