The Other Side of the Mask

63 Chapter 63: Venting My Anger

We storm in, bloodily trashing everything around, arresting one and all. I stand before the sinful Medicine Elder. No amount of words could exact my livid hatefulness.

I kick the Medicine Elder against the wall, waking her from her poison. I pull out the case of poisons, inspecting all the pills and description.

"This will do," I smirk at the nasty poison she made.

She'll have a taste herself. I pop it into her mouth as she howls in pain, her skin tearing away.

I watch without an ounce of pity.

" You brought this on yourself," I spit with disdain.

I turn away as the witch is on her last breaths.

"We're all done here, your majesty," Commander Yang reports.

"Good, we're leaving."

I sail back, lost in thought as the wind rustles my hair. My heart aches as I think of XiaoLong in bed. I furrow my brows. Are we there yet?

It seemed so much longer on the way back. I dash off back into the room, hoping that XiaoLong woke up.

I slam open the door and hurry to his side. However, I'm greeted with the same sight. My heart sinks and I close the door. I sigh.

Knock, knock!

"Come in."

The elderly doctor walks into the room. I scootch over, letting him check XiaoLong's pulse. He pulls out a small bottle of ointment, as I uncover XiaoLong's wounds.

We silently work together, apply the ointment.

"These wounds will fully heal in the next week," he prescribes, "As for the coma, he will wake up as they heal."

"So, sometime this week?" I confirm.

"Yes."

My face brightens, thinking of XiaoLong recovering. The doctor smiles and walks out.

Unconsciously sleeping by XiaoLong's bed, I feel myself being lifted into the air… wait, in the air? What? I rub my drowsy eyes and look up.

"XiaoLong! You should lie down! You're not healed yet!"

I try to push him away and get off. My struggles are in vain, though. He doesn't let go and actually tightens his grip. However, the rocking caused him to fall back on the bed.

I land softly, sitting on his abdomen.

"Ugh, don't move around. You're not healed," I mumble while getting off.

He pulls my arm in, and I land into a hug. He wraps his arm around my waist, sealing all means of escaping.

"Don't you dare scare me like that anymore," I threaten.

He chuckles, "I'm sorry."

"You don't sound sincere."

"I'm sorry. I'll tell you next time."

"You better!"

I clench my fists and bury my head in his shirt. XiaoLong pats my head calmly, as I start to relax for the first time in a while.

"We've gotten revenge. They're captured, ready for recompensation…" I report.

He lifts my head and seals my mouth with a light kiss.

I skip out of the room towards the kitchen.

"Where are you going, your majesty?" Commander Yang asks.

"Mmm, I'm getting food! XiaoLong woke up!"

"Please allow this servant to do such menial tasks," Commander Yang sincerely responds.

"Very well," I reply.

I frown after a bit, "You should lighten up and act more natural."

"I do not think his majesty, crown prince will approve of my natural personality," he retorts.

"True enough, you need to get rid of that nasty habit of yours, after all, you have SanXing now…" I nonchalantly put out.

He blushes in embarrassment.
