Chapter 9 “The Underground Elevator Part 1”

In the “field” created by the dean before, there may be many false elements, but the notes he unconsciously wrote in the book must contain a high degree of authenticity. The reason being that it’s a genuine projection of his heart, and death wouldn’t be able to destroy the fear he held towards this patient thirteen.

Is a female patient really that scary?

Idle had always been curious about this question, and now he had the answer.

Looking at the remaining half of the dean’s head, Idle’s eyes flashed a trace of graveness in them. According to his speculation, this patient thirteen also belonged to a type of metahuman.

She’s able to touch a ghost and then dismember them?

“Save…. Save me….”

The remaining half head did not stay quiet and continued to mutter words using that mutilated lower jaw, all the while green smoke was starting to waft out of his eye sockets with a powerful negative smell. For a spiritual body, such a substance would equate to their lifeforce. Losing this meant the dean was dying, well, at least perishing from existence.

Did she kill the ghost with her bare hands?

Idle was pondering this question when his eyes caught sight of the slender arm retracting back into the shadows. Apparently the patient had no intention of coming out to attack them both.

After some back and forth between the fatty and him to make sure both are fine, Idle eventually decides to investigate further by heading inside. There’s no point turning back after they’ve come this far. Besides, some clues to the “key” may still be around, plus he’s also very curious on what could cause this worshipping phenomenon to occur. There must be something special inside that small building.

Did this patient thirteen cause all of this? Even if she’s a metahuman, it shouldn’t be possible to affect hundreds of corpses at once. At the very least, not to my knowledge anyways….

Holding his breathing to a minimum, Idle slowly advances while maintaining a strange posture in order to avoid causing a commotion.

The metal door did not close after the patient tossed the dean out so he didn’t need to do anything about a need to break the lock. However, when Idle crossed the threshold of entering, his sight didn’t miss the palm touchscreen and the combination keys similar to what they saw earlier. It’s the same setup as the secret corridor.

“What the hell is this hospital doing…” He wonders aloud, his senses finding the whole estate out of place and mismatched. This was a traditional hospital, yet there were high-tech devices at every turn.

Once past the heavy gated door, he was now inside a spacious white room.

From first glance, this place was oppressive and nerve-wracking due to the way it’s coated. Whether it be the walls, the ceiling, the floor, all of which are coated in a white gelatinous substance of elastic nature. This didn’t seem normal in the slightest like he just walked into some monster’s stomach. Fortunately there was light from the ceiling so he didn’t need to work his eyes to examine the content.

Firstly, there was that strange elevator in the middle section. It’s like a product of the previous century in its makeup. Rusted iron bars, exposed gaps where one could stick a hand out through the sides, it’s the type you expect from an old coal mine where the workers would drop to their death when the cables snap.

But that’s not the most problematic, it’s in fact the fresh blood staining the elevator and the bio-tissue scraps hanging off of the metal bars. It’s giving off a foul odor that made Idle didn’t want to touch anything on it. To be clear, he’s not afraid of this matter, rather he merely didn’t want to get himself dirty.

Then judging by the old copper buttons of the elevator, he could assume there are twenty-one floors underground.

What in the world? Why is a hospital digging an underground tunnel that can reach twenty-one floors?

After some more examination, he’s about sure where the patient went. But Idle didn’t go down right away. There’s still Fatty Ho outside waiting for him so he called for the special agent to come inside to investigate some more first.

For him, the main priority wasn’t to locate the key, but to secure Fatty Ho’s safety.

The hundreds of partially turned undeads are a ticking time bomb in his view. If he goes down alone then he might as well sign the death certificate for the fatty.

At present, the safest choice was to have them both inside this room and then lock the door, thus separating the dead from themselves. Idle already determined the electronic lock still worked, merely a on/off switch by flicking it left and right.

With this metallic door as a defensive measure, he’s confident even a hundred undead would have trouble breaking it down.
