The Moon Thief

Chapter 25: Approaching the Edge of the Death

As Heinald raised his hand, his sword appeared in his hand, jumping towards the Lava Hounds ahead and performed a downward slash. Although the hound he aimed tried to escape, it was not fast enough, its head split in two and its body collapsed to the ground. All the other Lava Hounds rushed at Heinald at the same time.

"Frost Wave!"

A freezing wave swept around Heinald's body, and the Lava Hounds surrounding him were all frozen. Although the Lava Hounds were not considered strong, they would still be able to melt the ice sheet that covered them in a short time, for sure. So, he rushed towards them and finished them off with quick cuts.

After killing all the Lava Hounds, he began to extract their hearts with a super sharp skinning knife. The hearts of these monsters could be used in Potion Brewing and various Magic Formations due to their fire element energy.

"What's going on?" When Heinald removed the heart of the Lava Hound front of him, he saw that the elemental energy in the stone was absorbed by the ring. Within seconds, all the fire element energy in the heart of the Lava Hound was exploited by the ring.

He immediately focused his attention on the ring, noticing that the energy of the Phoenix Spirit in the ring had increased a little bit.

"Does it absorb Fire Energy?" Heinald had a thoughtful expression, he immediately turned to the other Lava Hounds and took out their hearts. The Fire Energy of all the hearts that he gather were immediately exploited by the ring.

*Roooaaarr! *

Heinald heard a roar that trembled the earth and the sky, so fierce it was that stone fragments began to fall from the surrounding walls.

*BUM! * The massive wall to the left exploded in an instant, small and large pieces of stone scattered around, creating a cloud of dust all over the place.

"No way ..." Heinald's pupils shrank. A gigantic body emerged from among the dust, his eyes like a flame plucked from the deepest of hell. One of its paw was twice the size of him. His mane was blazing, and there was nonstop smoke coming out of his mouth.

This was an adult Underworld Warg, another name for this species, the Hell Wolf. From the energy it radiated, it had almost the power of a Level 2 Ainsar. Heinald's heart was beating madly, and if he fought this monster in front of him, his death would have been certain. The spells he knew, absolutely will not be enough to save him.

He should have run from here right away!

He quickly began to observe the surroundings. There was a tunnel ahead, he had to cross the bridge and get there and run without looking back.

"Whisper of the Wind!" Heinald's body was surrounded by the wind, and he immediately began to run with all his might, moving quite fast thanks to the wind that surrounded him.

* Roaaaar! * Warg roared and blew fire out of its mouth.

He immediately jumped to the side and came out of the range of the fire at the last moment, and immediately started running towards the bridge, but the Warg behind him was also very nimble and fast.

"Lightning Spear!" Heinald cast the spell as he ran towards the bridge. Warg was chasing him right behind him. When he got to the bridge he started running at full speed without testing his durability, because he had no other choice.

As he neared the end of the bridge, he gathered all his strength in his legs and jumped forward, sending the Lightning Spear to the bridge while he was in the air.

When the Lightning Lance hit the bridge, a violent lightning explosion broke out. The violent explosion tore the stone bridge to pieces and caused the warg to fall down.

Heinald had successfully landed on the other side of the bridge when he jumped forward.

"This saves me some time. But I certainly can't slow down, probably that warg could climb back up in less than a minute." Heinald thought.

He started running through the tunnel at full speed. While he was running, he was also observing the tunnel, that monster's gigantic body probably would not fit into this narrow tunnel. However, because he was unsure, he certainly did not relax and kept running at full speed.

Heinald quickly glanced behind him as he ran and saw warg reach the entrance of the tunnel.

* Rooaaaarr * Gigantic Warg let out a breath of fire with all its might. This breath of fire was so powerful that even a Level 2 Ainsar would hesitate to confront it directly. There was no way Heinald could stand directly in front of this breath of fire. Luckily, his mind worked quickly and he came up with an idea he thought might work.

He casted Lightning Spear and throw it to the ceilinng of the tunnel.

*BAM!* When Lightning Spear hit to the ceiling a lightning burst appeared and ceiling collapsed. Although the collapsed ceiling absorbed some of the power of the incoming scorching fire wave, it could not completely block it. Heinald cast his spell, Frost Wave, again, and with it he blocked the waves of fire that had weakened in intensity.

* Roooaaarrr! * Warg roared again and began to move forward by hitting his giant body left and right. The whole tunnel started to shake, rocks were falling from the walls.

"Damn warg!" Heinald gritted his teeth. He was moving at full speed through the tunnel, the ground underneath trembling as if there were a severe earthquake. After running for a while, the tunnel began to bend to the right. When Heinald turned to the right, he saw a dim light from the end of the tunnel.

"Finally!" Heinald yelled excitedly, for a moment thinking that these damned tunnels would never end.

There began to be loud rumbling sounds from the rear of the tunnel, followed by a heavy dust wave. The warg had destroyed the tunnel by breaking the walls, causing the entire tunnel to collapse.

Heinald came out of the tunnel. He reached a small room illuminated by various natural stones around him.

There was only a small chest and an inlaid door ahead.

He immediately turned to the chest and started to examine it. As he had guessed, the chest was protected by a Defensive Formation.

* Rooaaar! *

"Fucking Warg! You're still not dead !?" Heinald immediately sent the chest into the dimensional pocket of his robe and headed for the door. There was a star-shaped recess near the door, and he immediately took the star key from his pocket and placed it in the recess.

The door before him opened trembling, revealing the stairs leading upwards.

Heinald quickly began to climb the stairs, and after a few minutes he climbed into the openness of the ruins.

"I did it!" Heinald let out a sigh of relief. Warg had failed to catch him, but he still wanted to leave the ruins without much delay.

That beast survived even after the entire tunnel collapsed.

He blew Shadow's horn and waited for him to arrive, and after a few minutes he saw his horse rushing towards him.

When Heinald returned to the Risingmoon Kingdom, he first stayed at his home for a while and never went out.During this time, he both rested and devoted time to the resources he obtained from the dungeon. He spent quite a bit of time destroying the Defense Formation on the chest he had obtained from the dungeon.

"Alright! It's finally open!" Heinald was excited when he destroyed the formation. He carefully opened the chest. There were only two books in it. He calmly took the first book and quickly glanced at its contents.

"This book contains information about a Spirit Imprisonment Formation!" Heinald's eyes were bright.

He quickly started view the other book.

"T-This ... This is a Spirit Potion Formula!" Heinald's hands were trembling. The book he was holding contained the formula for a Spirit Potion and information about how to make it.

A Spirit Potion Formula had a lot of value, so only the strongest families had these formulas. If Heinald was found to have one of these, powerful families would do their best to eliminate him and seize the potion. According to the book, this potion would not affect Level 3 Ainsar and above. However, it was quite effective for Level 1 Ainsar and Level 2 Ainsar. Of course, after a certain amount of use this potion would still be dysfunctional because the body would begin to show immunity to the content and effect of this potion.

"I have gained invaluable resources. These resources will definitely be of great use to me ..." Heinald had a pleasant smile on his face.

Heinald never left his house for a while. After dealing with matters of concern, he decided to see Ranton.

"Welcome, Heinald! Where have you been?" When Ranton saw Heinald, he greeted him.

"I had a few things to do." Heinald shrugged. "Any news?"

"There isn't a single one." Ranton shook his head.

"They must have gotten a very good source of intelligence somehow..." Heinald murmured. An idea that came to his mind at that moment and made him frown.

"What happened?" Ranton asked.

"What if the intelligence sources are themselves?" Heinald scratched his chin.

"How so?" Ranton looked directly at Heinald.

"I don't think they can get that much intelligence from a single source. Maybe they are collecting intelligence themselves." Heinald stood up and started walking around the room, looking thoughtful.

"Their actions do not accept even any little mistake. How can they collect intelligence that is so precise?" Ranton frowned.

"This is the question that we should focus on, my friend! If we can solve this question, we can find something useful." Heinald nodded. The answer to this question could open important doors for them.
