Yu Yi woke up in the early morning sun. He pushed the windows open and washed up. He went out and bought groceries to fill up his empty refrigerator.

“16 days before going home. Got to prepare.”

He reserved the air ticket for his journey back ahead of time and prepared the offerings. His funds were already stretched. Now, he really didn’t have much money left. The only thing that made Yu Yi happier was that the girl now existed in his nightmares. All the strange creatures stopped appearing. Although his dreams were still set in the ruins, at least they weren’t nightmares anymore? It was great to talk to the girl about life. Even though the girl was only conjured by Yu Yi’s imagination to resist the curse.

His luck was great today. He didn’t see a single non-human on the street. Yesterday night’s two consecutive encounters had almost given Yu Yi the illusion that the world was about to end. However, to be fair, if a creature from the COC lore arrived, he didn’t even have to worry. Except for those from the Olden Days and the Outer Gods, or existences such as Tindalos or Star Color of course. Even the moon beast could be killed by bullets.

If a ton of bullets weren’t enough, then how about a ton of artillery shells!

After having a full meal, he laid on his bed, turned off the lights, and turned on his game watch and glasses.

Instantly, he appeared in a dark environment. A simple diary appeared and opened gradually in the dark world.

[Welcome to open your diary… Currently reversing cause and effect… Pursuing and adjusting Laleier Seafood City… Feeding the dogs… Lovecraft praying… Welcome, investigator.]

He was back in the empty mansion. Yuming wasn’t there. She must’ve gone to join some’s sacrificial ceremony. The Star Color floated in midair. It looked well-recuperated as its attribute level had recovered to half of its maximum amount. The Star Color immediately floated over and rubbed itself on Yu Yi. It seemed like Yuming had done a good job with taming this thing… At least, the Star Color was enslaved by Yuming.

Judging from its humanoid translucent posture, its posture was legit that of Yuming’s at least in a physical perspective. What was this… Did the Star Color want to become adorable too?

“Rest well. In the future, we can become a Juicer Team.”

To work together with a Star Color was strange enough. In the future, they’d go out and squeeze the juice out of mythical creatures. The Hound or the Star Family wouldn’t even be a match.

Soon enough, the KP appeared beside Yu Yi. However, this time was different from before. Although the KP was still an orb that floated in the air, multiple cracks had appeared on its halo. They were probably left behind by Yuming last night.

[Oh… That’s painful. I thought I was going to die.]

Regarding last night’s events. It was good that Yu Yi was quick to go offline. If not, Yuming would’ve strangled it.

“I thought you KP’s do not have physical bodies.”

Yu Yi reached out and tried to touch the KP. However, his arm passed through the KP. It didn’t have a physical body.

[We never had physical bodies… However, as I’ve said before, no matter us KPs, Outer Gods, or Olden Days, all of us are controlled by independent AIs. Technically speaking, fights between AIs were indeed possible. Even though KP was the highest-ranking… However, that’s in the game. Outside of the game, everyone shares the same authority.]

KP’s voice decreased in volume until it disappeared altogether. He had lost all resolve. No wonder! After kidnapping Yuming here, the KP no longer forcibly recycled character cards. Instead, all it would do was try to recycle the relationship chains of the character card through the process of card tearing.

“Yesterday, what Yuming told me… Could you explain?”

[About going offline… Hmmm, as I’ve said before, all of us are AI, which coexists here and aren’t part of an instance mission. Doesn’t Yuming know that nothing is going right in the real world? Oh right, I’ve received an application from other KPs to set your game this round as a live stream. Some of them want to see you tear your card.]

“Please forgive me for saying no.”

Needless to say, it must have been the KP of the previous game. It had confiscated his survival reward!

“Let’s go online and continue the game. We’ll see if we can finish the game today. I’ve been quite busy.”

Yu Yi opened the interface and selected the instance mission. He logged in and disappeared from the mansion. Only the Star Color was left floating in the room.

When Yu Yi opened his eyes again, he realized that his room was in a mess. Lilice had disappeared from the bed. At the same time, an eavesdrop check appeared in Yu Yi’s vision. It had obviously failed. So, Yu Yi had woken up after Lilice had left and long after she had woken up. Lilice’s actions had not awoken him.

Yu Yi had tried to search the name “Lilice Cassila” on Baidu after going offline but got no results. Just as KP said, Yu Yi was allowed to Super Tour whenever he wanted. If he found any information, the KP would admit defeat. However, there really was no information at all. All Yu Yi was able to find was a red wine named Lilice Syrah… it seemed famous too. Perhaps, the KP used this information when creating the NPC?

He opened the memo from last night.

Lilice Cassila. Female. The rest was unknown.

He met her on Linjing Street. There, she looked like she was running for her life and was being pursued by the police. However, the pursuing policemen were seemingly afraid of hurting her. They didn’t block her and called off the pursuit instead.

She hated octopuses, cuttlefishes, and squids. She had a huge appetite. She was able to drive but had no common sense. She didn’t even know what traffic light colors represented. She also had zero grace and restraint as expected from a girl… which was a waste of her 17-point APP face. Although she had long blue hair, she didn’t have an intelligence UP halo.

She claimed that she had escaped from marriage and had a strong and powerful mother.

Since she was young, she had grown up in a closed environment. She was surrounded, raised, and cared for by a group of white-gowned people. It was not until a few days ago that her mother’s servant brought her out from there and asked her to marry an ugly-looking person. It was as though she cared a lot about looks. So in that sense, APP 18 meant that one could do whatever he wanted.

“That’s all I have for now. KP, I want to inspect the room.”

[. rd = 47/60, Passed]

“47/60?”

Since when did dice rolling become like this?

[The system updated last night. 47 is the number of points you rolled. 60 is the total number of your points. This is to make team movements more convenient. You can turn this off if you’d like.]

“Never mind, let’s leave it like this. It’s quite convenient. So, now, my inspection passed…”

Looking at the messy room, it looked as though it had been raided. The floor was stained by puddles of water. There were also footprints, which looked like those left by bare feet. From the size of the footprints, they looked like Lilice’s. So… what was she looking for exactly?

He squatted down and touched the water puddles on the ground. He sniffed it gently. There was no fishy smell. It was just normal water, colorless and odorless. Then again, there would be a huge problem if the water smelled fishy.

“No sign of battle, so Lilice should’ve left by herself… The handprints left from rummaging through the things were different from Lilice’s, so there would’ve been two waves of people… Damn! They must have ignored my presence!”

Lilice must have hidden when the first group of people arrived. They rummaged through everything without awakening Yu Yi. Then, they left after not being to find anything. Then, Lilice probably took Yu Yi’s wallet and left. The second group of people came but didn’t enter. They probably left in pursuit of Lilice after seeing the water puddles. In conclusion, Lilice was in danger.

“Whew, I would be such a good detective in real life.”

He pulled out the Lover, loaded it up, and ran in the direction of the water puddles.
