72 – EP5. Wind Memory

Angel thought,

“Is there a way to kill the Titan?”

The Titan was strong. Its strength could easily crush rocks and bring down mountains. But the most terrifying aspect of the Titan was its unbelievable defense.

“There’s no way to break through the Titan’s defense.”

The Titan’s skin boasted an incredible durability. No matter how powerful a sword stabbed into it, the blade wouldn’t go in, and no matter how impressive a magic spell was used, the skin wouldn’t peel off. Even when exposed to a clear antithesis like holy power, it didn’t suffer any damage, unlike the Lich King who clearly had a vulnerability to holy power.

Angel thought. If external attacks don’t work, he should attack from within.

But how can he attack from within?

In that moment, Angel felt a sudden flash of intuition in his mind.

I remembered how the titan would charge or howl in unfavorable situations.

Yes. What if I attack through its throat?

However, there were several flaws in that plan. First, even if I managed to catch the titan during the moment it opened its mouth, would I be able to attack through it?

Angel’s thoughts were completely impractical. No one could accurately aim for the titan’s throat during that brief moment when it opened and closed its mouth.

…Then why not prevent the titan from closing its mouth?

Angel began to devise a reckless plan.

“Keep pushing the titan, wizards! Create an opportunity no matter what!”

Magnus Tirenthus shouted.

The titan continued to swing its arms, roll its legs, and charge. But unlike before, the wizards did not try to stop its charge and kept attacking relentlessly.

The titan roared.

“Kuwooooo!”

Angel said.

“Now! Help me leap now!”

When Angel gave the signal, Peria cast a flying spell on Angel.

Angel flew toward the titan.

And the titan caught Angel in mid-air and threw him away.

“Cough!”

Angel hit a tree and shattered his skull.

He died.

He came back to life and aimed for the titan again.

“I think it’s time to distract the titan!”

Angel said, and Ibercas flew around shooting fireballs at the titan. The titan was still unharmed, but it seemed to have decided that it should deal with Ibercas first and reached out towards him.

“Watch out!”

Ibercas lightly dodged the titan’s touch and began to taunt the titan from a place where it couldn’t reach.

The titan roared in rage.

And Angel gave the signal to Peria and jumped, flying up.

And as soon as Angel climbed onto the titan’s shoulder, the titan twisted its body and shook Angel, causing him to lose balance.

The titan grabbed the unsteady Angel, and with a tearing sound, it devoured him. Blood and marrow spilled out, and Angel’s flesh turned into a pulp as it headed towards the titan’s stomach.

He died.

Angel decided to

“If I continue like this, someday I will succeed.”

The current situation couldn’t be better. Even if he had to die a hundred times, it didn’t matter as long as he had the confidence that the path he had chosen was the best.

Ainz started his leap once again.

The Titan swatted him out of the air.

“Ugh!”

He was falling, taking a tremendous impact, and unable to control his body. The Titan’s foot stomped on him.

Under the Titan’s foot, a gruesome mixture of blood, marrow, organs, bones, and flesh flowed out.

He was dead.

Ainz began to seize another opportunity.

And when the Titan roared, Ainz quickly shoved his hand with the sword into the Titan’s mouth.

And with a crunching sound, his arm was bitten off.

Ainz gritted his teeth.

One arm was gone, and even the Holy Sword had slid down the Titan’s throat, but he didn’t give up.

Ainz summoned the Holy Sword.

However, the Titan was quicker to grab him than Ainz was to put his arm into the Titan’s mouth.

The Titan squeezed Ainz tightly, and Ainz’s body exploded under its grip.

He was dead.

Ainz smiled with madness. Why? Why was he doing this to this extent?

From Noble mtl dot com

The past him had been so afraid of losing himself, but now, it wasn’t even a consideration for the current him.

He didn’t think about the future. The only thing that mattered was the enemy in front of him, and the only thing he did was to kill that enemy.

When the Titan roared, Ainz leaped once again.

He was dead.

He was dead.

He was dead.

Without pause, he continued his desperate leaps, filled with madness, to kill the enemy with no guarantee of victory.

He died once again…

Ainz opened his eyes once more, seeking another opportunity. He just had to create a chance, no matter what.

Even if he had to die several times, even dozens of times, it all came down to winning that one final time.

“Raaagh!”

The Titan roared.

“Pheria, now!”

Angel leaped.

Angel climbed onto the Titan’s shoulder and thrust his arm holding the holy sword into the Titan’s mouth.

The Titan was unable to close its mouth and tried to pry Angel off with its hand.

“Block it! Seal the Titan’s arm!”

And the Titan’s arm was sealed by the magicians. When the Titan realized that it couldn’t simply grab and tear Angel apart, it shook its body to try to remove him, but Angel tenaciously held on.

Angel inserted the holy sword into the Titan’s fang. No matter how hard the Titan tried to destroy the holy sword, it didn’t even leave a scratch.

“Now!”

Then Ibercas swiftly flew towards the Titan.

“There’s no way to finish off the Titan by just attacking its throat.”

Angel thought.

Even if they succeeded in attacking, it would be meaningless if they couldn’t finish off the Titan in one blow.

Of course, they could inflict some damage, and if lucky, even a fatal blow. But would that be enough to kill the Titan?

Angel strongly believed it wasn’t. Even if they were to harm the Titan, it would only end when the Titan closed its mouth and continued to fight. They had to finish off the Titan with just one blow, while it was unaware.

Even if Ibercas poured the most powerful attack into the Titan’s throat, they still wouldn’t be able to kill it. They needed a single blow that could finish off the Titan.

Angel infused their own magic power into the catalyst. Then they summoned Ibercas and spoke to them.

“Do not tell anyone about this and keep it.”

“What is this?”

With intrigued eyes, the fire elemental carefully examined the violet jewel adorned with various geometric patterns that the warrior handed over.

“It’s a device that amplifies magic power. When the crucial opportunity comes, not more and not less, use it to amplify your magic power and attack the Titan’s throat just once. Then the Titan probably won’t be able to withstand it.”

“Hmm, a device that amplifies magic power? It doesn’t seem like it would be of much help to me.”

“No, on the contrary, it’s a device that becomes more helpful the stronger you are. The amount of magic power that is amplified also increases in proportion to the user’s strength.”

“…Oh, how did you manage to get something like this? I’m curious, but it would be impolite to ask, even for a spirit like me. Well, anyway, I understand. I’ll blast the Titan’s throat with all my might.”

Angel nodded.

“Good, then after the operation is over, I’ll return it to you, and let’s meet again alive. I’m quite curious about you.”

Ibercas said, and Angel simply smiled quietly.

“Now!”

Angel shouted. Ibercas, filled with everything he could muster, prepared for his best strike.

“What on earth is this thing?” Ibercas thought silently. The amount of amplifying magic exceeded his imagination. He had doubts about a hero possessing something like this, but it didn’t matter. What mattered was this very moment.

“Here I go!”

As Ibercas threw a fireball into the Titan’s throat, Angel extended his arm. The flame got a little closer and scorched him slightly, but it didn’t matter.

The fireball Ibercas had thrown exploded inside the Titan’s throat, and the Titan couldn’t even utter a scream.

The Titan’s head, along with his body, disappeared without a trace.

With the feeling of someone supporting him on the Titan’s shoulders, Angel lost consciousness.
