The God Slaying Hero and the Seven Covenants

Lesson 5: The Forest of Decaying Spirits 1

Run the horses, run the woods.

A forest of rotten spirits is, as its name suggests, the earth and the trees rot, and the dead and the spirits travel through the forest.

The rotten earth drains strength just by proceeding, and the dark rotten odor that resembles the temper emanating from the trees gradually takes away this sanity.

Even though it's dead flesh, the dead (zombies) always try to target us, the living ones, and become companions (corpses). Spiritual bodies with misty bodies weaken the resistance of this spirit, they have nightmares aimed at sleeping. If we move through the woods, the corpse will occasionally catch our attention, and although the trees do not thrive, the temper emitted from the trees becomes fog, blocking the sun's rays.

I would love to get through this forest as soon as possible, but this forest between the magic city and the king's capital is deep. Even if you run the shortest distance with a horse, it takes five days to get out.

"Faerona, can you try harder?

"Oh, no problem. More than that..."

"Look after Miss Francesca and Mululu here. You just have to think about going through the woods."

"Okay."

Pull the horse over and check the condition of Fayrona with less words.

It is Faerona who is most affected by this forest. I did not expect the forest, without the protection of the Spirit and distorted by the hatred of the dead and the soul, to affect the elves so far. Fayrona, who lives in a clean forest like the Forest of Magic, should have been unexpected, too. I know he's going to hide it, but his complexion is bad. Not so much a sick person, but you can see at a glance that you're feeling sick.

I was going to know how troublesome it was to be called an evil spirit, but I didn't think it would affect me so far. This is not the first time I've traveled with an elf. But when I traveled with them, I felt like I was traveling through all the woods that were heavily sheltered by the Spirit. I see, I think. I felt like I figured out one more reason why the elves were called keepers of the woods.

This may not be the case right now, but unforeseen things can happen in such a state. I have to do something about it, and I think about it while driving a horse, but I can't think of a good idea. It's best to get some rest at times like this, but that's also difficult in these rotten woods.

There are no paved paths in the forest of rotting spirits, and even horses can travel because they have experience that seems to be the foresight of Fayrona, a forest people, but it is the status quo. It's a mess that Fayrona can't move.

"At least I hope I can get some sleep during the night alone"

"It's gonna be hard in this forest."

So is that. During the day when the sun is out, it travels east, which is on the Wang capital side, and after the sun sets, it is attacked from zombies and ghosts.

I can say that it is amazing that I have been able to move for three days with very little rest. Me and Fayrona are reaching their peak of fatigue because of the priority we're giving the women a break.

I can only fight with my sword, so it's fine while I'm on the move, but I need Faerona's experience to travel, so at least I want Faerona alone to rest.

"If you create it in a silver sword, you'll have no problem."

"It would be easier for me if I could do that. Unfortunately, I'm neither silver nor spiritual silver."

Ma, I don't expect it, and I whine in my mouth alongside a horse driven by Miss Francesca.

That unknown jade blade doesn't fit into any ore in this world. Should I say a magic blade called Elmenhilde if I insist? Every time I release (clear) the seven constraints imposed on me by the goddess, I cut them - strange material that increases attack and strength. Just as silver has special effects on the immortal and spiritual bodies, should we say that the blade of Ermenhilde is one of the few weapons that can be wounded by demon gods?

It is true that its effects are rare, but it does nothing in this situation right now. It works as a weapon if you're a zombie opponent, but it's powerless on the spirit body. As always, I'm about to cry about the usefulness of my cheat.

"Miss Francesca"

"What is it, Master Range?"

When I call, I get a healthy voice back.

Miss Francesca and Mululu are fine because they are resting a little at night. Ami, quiet behind me, is resting with her eyes closed as the horse rocks her. I'm not asleep, but when I feel that I am trusted, I feel a little irritated. I shake my head and push the idea out of my head.

"Mululu too, but let me know before you can't move if you're tired. Take a break."

"Hehe, thank you for your concern. But it's still okay."

That makes me soothe to a fluffy smile. But for a moment, too.

Muru's gaze behind Miss Francesca gets steep. At the same time Faerona's horse, who was running the lead, stops his leg and moves into combat position as Ami, who was resting while keeping her head on my back.

When I turned my gaze forward too late, a human zombie dressed in an iron armor helmet stood about four blocking the road in front of Faerona. I don't suppose that's the intention, but I think you're in the way. If you look closely, there are about two things flying around the perimeter of that zombie like a mass of fog. Ghost.

I say I don't see spiritual souls, but the Ghost who stays in this world by hatred and malice somehow has a misty body. Well, as for this one, it helps because it's discernible and easy to understand. When I first saw it, it was really more fantastic than fear, I felt.

Zombies have no clear thought or will. There is no such thing as herding and collaborating like the goblins, and as an instinct, it strikes the living.

Conversely, the Ghost manipulates a zombie-like, weak-willed immortal (undead), although one point of attacking the living is the same as a zombie. It's also a nasty enemy with the same abilities as vampires (vampires) and reapers (grimlippers), the top undead.

If there is a clergy, it can be purified with the miracle of the goddess, but a clergyman who can exercise such a superior miracle does not appear in adventure first. He would pray to the goddess every day in the church. It's my bias.

"Ami, get me a ghost. Miss Francesca is beside Faerona."

When I say that and get off my horse, Mululu comes beside me at the same time.

If it's true, I'll ignore it, but Faerona's holding the horse would mean it's blocked. That's what I decided, and I'm just going to clean it up.

"I'm right"

Okay, I'm on the left.

At the same time, I kick the ground and run out. The coat (cloak) flips and Muru's arms become dewy. Already there, even my arms are covered in pure white body hair, and I see a vicious nail that reminds me of Dagger.

When you flesh to the zombie with the thrust that leaves me, you snap your half-rotten legs off with those claws. Rotten muscles can't withstand that shock, and zombies roll to the ground with their feet blown off. Keep it flowing. Kick your head off with your right foot in leather boots working.

Zombies are strange things, and when you destroy your head, you don't move. But I can't seem to just pierce it with arrows and spears, on condition that it detaches from my neck, as Mululu does now, but blows it to such an extent that it doesn't leave its original shape. One theory has a story about someone in the brain - evil spirits and worms parasitic and manipulating corpses, but I'm not willing to be sure. Disgusting. I think that's all you need to know how to kill.

When I was fleshy to the zombie, I wore an iron knife around my neck. With that blow, he turns it down to half and completely amputates his head with a flash to return. You can't do it if you're a living person, but this is enough if you're a zombie with rotten meat and relaxed muscles.

'You can use me, okay?

"You want to slaughter a rotten corpse?

"I'm a weapon."

You got lost for a moment.

He smiles bitterly without putting it in his mouth and turns to the rest of it. Immediately after that, you can play the mist (ghost) that was drifting around you. Ami must have blew it up with magic.

In the quiet woods, the explosion sounds. That's three times.

For some reason, Ghost is vulnerable to witchcraft. Magic - I don't know if it's weak because it's magic that transforms mental power into aggression, or if it's for any reason. Moreover, anything works but has the characteristic of being vulnerable to flames and lightning.

I just wonder if that's what a fantasy-based game would be like, but is it because I'm a modern man who considers all sorts of reasons when this way there are similar weaknesses in reality?

I think about it, but I don't stop, and I snap the neck of the last zombie. Zombies move dull because their flesh is rotting and their muscles are relaxed. Apparently, humans are unconsciously holding back power to avoid breaking their bodies, but zombies are taking away such unconscious saves. But even such power is pointless when the flesh is rotten. Just grabbing it this way lifts my arm and just running a little bit will cut my leg a thousand times.

Mululu is already on his way to Miss Francesca. He doesn't want to slaughter a rotten body with his own nails on a boulder over and over again. He only said that it was disgusting to hear once how it felt to slash him with a claw. I guess so, I guess. It's disgusting even over a knife. Well, if I were to say that, I wouldn't have been able to kill the creature yet.

Make sure the zombies and ghosts are wiped out before Ami returns to the horse on board.

"Thank God."

"You're welcome."

Take the small hand offered and cross over to the horse.

Because of the flashy explosion earlier, the silence of the forest makes me feel more painful in my ears.

"Well, let's move on."

Looks like you've been waiting for that voice of mine, and Fayrona starts to move the horse.

Me and Miss Francesca also try to get there after that fayrona and get back on the move.

As for plans, two more days. We're still going to be ahead of us through this forest. That leaks nature and sigh.

"Are you all right?

Speaking to Ami in the back, a slight force caged in the arm that had been turned on her hips. I'm glad to be snuggled up with you as a man, but if you say that you don't have color, I want you to give me a break because it's hard to manipulate a horse.

You seem to be saying something, but you can't hear it with the sound of a horse running and the wind cutting. I tried to ask him back, and Faerona came over the horse earlier than that.

"Anything wrong?

There's something ahead.

That's what I said, Fayrona, who fastens her horse and goes down to the ground.

As he kneels down to the damp ground with a fog that stares, he glances at the ground with his fingers. If you look closely, there was a huge footprint there. I admire the fact that it's a good thing to notice.

I've been taught how to walk in the woods quite a bit, but the elves still make me realize that I'm no match. Besides, I realize it from the horse, so all I can say is it's already amazing.

When I get off the horse saying "fayrona", I check the footprints too. That was no ordinary footprint. Not like the sole of a shoe, but a thin sole and five long fingers. Bone legs.

Skeleton?

"I guess. And it's huge."

It's about three times the size of my footprint. From that point of view, it becomes a skeleton of the Horn Ghost (Orga) class. Or is it a synthetic beast (chimeric) type skeleton with multiple bones gathered together?

I can't judge by the footprints I find, but it seems certain that there are demons ahead that are different from zombies and ghosts.

"What's wrong, Master Range, Mr. Faerona?

"Oh. A little. Mululu, do you smell anything weird?

"Weird everywhere. This forest smells all rotten."

When I hear that, I can flatter myself and respond that way.

At a time like this, the nose of the Beast Man (Muru) can be relied upon, but this time it seems useless due to the properties of this forest of rotting spirits.

"Even some nasty demon?

"It's skeleton. Probably an ogre or a guy like Chimera..."

"If you use the words of Soichi and the others, do you mean the boss?

"I miss you, the way you put it. But, well, you're right."

That's what I used to say. When I remembered that, I felt so nostalgic. At first, it felt like a game. different worlds. Fantasy. The sword and the magical world made my heart jump. The sword is a life-taking weapon, enough to make me forget that death is close.

At the same time, I feel the slightest tension that I had felt so unnoticed myself had faded.

For three years now, I realize I've changed a lot. Kill, get killed. Even though I have an adventure that is unthinkable in modern society, I just calm down by remembering the old days. I become accustomed to the matter and realize myself.

"Bo-su?

"You mean the big man or the lord of this forest. If we take him down, maybe after this, we can get through the woods with ease."

There is no way that a word can get through to a boulder as a boss, which explains what it looks like. Well, I'm not wrong.

"It would be easy if Ami blew it off."

"You depend on someone else... Look, I'm here, too, right?

"I don't like skeletons on boulders"

That's right. When I clap my shoulders, I get sighed out of Ermenhilde.

I make an excuse that I can't help it. You can have Hermen Hilde create hammers and crush them, but I don't like hammers or battle axes. And the spear. Hard to shake.

Besides, it's surer and safer to have it blown away with a magic cannon from a distance than to challenge a melee with a bad weapon.

Seems like he doesn't want to kill zombies, and the Ghost can't. Skeleton is overloaded with me now. You seem to care that you have not been of any use on this journey.

I think that's the right place to travel. There's no need for me to be able to do anything alone. Forest moves to Fayrona, enemies and fights to Muru, ghost exorcisms to Ami and Miss Francesca. It's also a problem that I don't do anything, so I just need to stand around so I can take advantage of everyone's strengths.

That's also important when it comes to partying.

"Hehe. It's okay, because I'm much stronger than I was a year ago."

Ami stretches her chest like that on a horse. As reliable as it can be.

And I really want you to protect me when I get too strong, so I want you to be strong enough.

Even a year ago, you were much stronger than me, and now you're even stronger than that. How much? In time, will you seriously be able to beat the demon gods in a sorcery fight?

"That's reliable."

"Besides, there's a Range."

"Right."

"Unfortunately. I might just get caught up in something."

'... hey'

Remove the medal (Ermenhilde) from your pocket and squeeze it with your finger.

No one here is weaker than I am willing to fight. Ami, Fayrona and Mululu are stronger than me. Miss Francesca is also a solid adventurer now. I don't think he's stronger than me, but he's grown enough to protect himself.

When that happens, only one constraint will be released (cleared). willingness to fight. That's no different than the usual goblin exorcism. In that state, it's hard to skeleton opponents. Besides, it's hopeless when it comes to orga or chimera.

The inability to fight with steady force can also be described as the fatal weakness of my cheat. Sometimes you can remove (clear) all three or four constraints on a goblin or oak opponent, and sometimes you can only remove one on a boss class opponent.

I don't know how many sighs I've had about it, but I'll sigh again today. Ami looks at me like that, but I don't think she does.

"Let's just get cleaned up. If the sun goes down, the enemy will be more favorable."

"Right."

I agree with Faerona's words. You can be unconscious if you are struck by the darkness of the night.

Ami also has tougher physical abilities than the inhabitants of this world with the otherworldly correction, but is still beaten and weaker compared to the profession of magician or Soichi Tatsu.

It would be safer if we unilaterally attacked and terminated it from here.

"I can't believe it, I'm going east like this. Looks like this skeleton's headed east, too, from the direction of the footprint."

"Yes, let me know if you find it"

"Okay."

But, well, if I don't have to see you, I think that's better.

I want to avoid futile combat. Despite how strong Ami is, battles often don't know what will happen.

Unforeseen circumstances put me in danger, not just myself, but even my people. The safest thing to do is to get through these woods without meeting Skeleton.

I just want to get out of the woods.

"... Mmm."

"What are you obstinate about?

'I have embarked on this journey and nothing has helped me yet...'

I don't care. Instead, I think this partner should remember to rely on him around. Well, they're going to piss me off that I'm over-reliant.

"I don't care."

Ami also seemed to hear Elmenhilde's voice, which was comforting.

This trick I show you occasionally is adorable. Because of the lack of the usual novels, I think that's unnecessarily true.

"Rely on me more, El."

"But..."

"I'm glad you can count on me, aren't you?

Listen to Ami and Ermenhilde as they manipulate their horses so that they are not left behind by the Faeronas.

Can you count on me, please?

Well, Ami, unlike me, has strength, so she won't have a problem. Even though I don't have the strength, I've failed many times. Because you're older, and you can't do anything. But, well, that's how I earned a little trust because I worked so hard.

The world really doesn't know how one's actions will fall.

"... I know."

The voice returned to Ami's words like that sounded somewhere proud.

'That's why I want you to rely on me. In the Range.'

- How should I respond?

How do I perceive the word? What is the sincerity of Ermenhilde? I think about that and shake my head.

"You're counting on me, buddy?

"I want you to rely on me as a weapon, buddy."

I can't do that.

Because you're my most trusted partner.

Kaka, and laughing, Miss Francesca and Mululu turn their gaze at me from a little further away. You must have been surprised at me for laughing out of the blue because I can't hear Elmen Hilde.

It's time for trouble, so maybe if we seem to get along longer, we can make Ermenhilde's voice heard by the Francesca ladies as well.

Well, that's because it's my own idea. Special only to close associates. It would be normal to want to have that kind of thing.
