The Evil God of Hogwarts

Chapter 174 Weird Residents

The boy disappeared on a neat asphalt road on the other side of the store's main entrance.

Although the bare plane tree has no leaves, its branches are still similar to those in the photos of the scene.

"Is it right here?" Ellie looked at the photo in her hand with some uncertainty.

"Here?" She questioned again, and looked up to look around. There were some residents scattered around the asphalt road, not too many, but at least someone should notice something.

She recalled the report that there had been heavy freezing rain that evening and the wind was blowing very hard. But no matter what, someone will always notice something strange.

Is it possible that the Screamer can still apparate? But Apparition will make a loud noise, which will also attract people's attention.

But then I thought about it, Xing Ze said that things in dreams cannot be considered according to the rules of the real world. Maybe those things really have the ability to make people disappear out of thin air.

The eldest lady turned her attention to Xing Ze, hoping that he could find some clues. But the detective was staring at a roadside manhole in a daze.

"What did you find, Lee?"

Hearing Ai Li's voice, Xing Ze came back to his senses. He raised his head and was about to speak when he saw two people walking towards them.

Judging from the casual attire of the two people, they should be residents living here.

"Good afternoon." The brown-haired man among the two greeted them, "Do you need any help?"

Xing Ze put on a bright smile and replied: "No, kind sir. Of course, there is also this beautiful lady."

The middle-aged woman grinned, "Oh, you have such a sweet mouth. Unfortunately, I came out with my husband today."

As she spoke, she glanced at the man next to her. The brown-haired man just smiled faintly. Obviously, the couple often joked with each other like this.

"You are not locals." The middle-aged woman said with a smile, "Are you here to travel or to find a job?"

"How did you know that I'm not from here?" the eldest lady asked, chewing the bubble gum harder.

The couple looked at each other and smiled, and the brown-haired man replied: "We know almost everyone in this town, of course, I mean the wizard.

"Don't worry, we're not bad people. It's just that the parade is about to start here, so I think you'd better leave early."

"Parade?" Xing Ze pretended to be curious, "Why are we marching? Did something happen?"

"Didn't you read the newspaper?" the middle-aged woman asked, "Last night, the Ministry of Magic took away our beloved mayor, Manel Mendes, for no reason. We do not allow such atrocities."

"Ah, Manel Mendez. I know him, he is indeed a good person." Xing Ze flattered him smoothly, "In this case, we will leave as soon as possible."

"Very well," said the brown-haired man, "you made a wise decision."

"But before that." Xing Ze pointed to the store, "Good-hearted people, can you tell me why this store is not open?"

The woman turned to look at the shop, "Oh, you mean Mr. Gray's magic props shop? Because of today's parade, many wizard shops will not be open. You guys came at the wrong time."

"Well, that's a pity." Xing Ze turned to look at Ellie, "Maybe we can come back next time."

The eldest lady spread her hands and said with great dissatisfaction: "It's really fucked. We came all the way here, but we couldn't buy much. What a waste."

She cursed and walked towards the carriage.

"Please forgive me." Xing Ze pressed the brim of his hat, "My sister, she has some..."

"It's okay, adolescent child." The woman said with a smile on her face, "I can understand you."

"See you then, you two." Xing Ze nodded towards the two of them, and then quickly followed Ai.

After walking about ten meters, Ellie whispered: "I don't like those two people."

"Me too." Xing Ze said, "Are they still looking at us?"

Ellie turned her head and looked behind her, then nodded and said, "Hmm, the smiles on their faces make me feel uneasy. Do you feel it?"

"Stop talking." Xing Ze frowned, "Everyone around us is looking at us."

The two of them hurriedly got into the carriage. Since the carriage driver was not there, Xing Ze drove the carriage. Although his skills were not very good, the two of them arrived safely near St. Hilda's Church.

Compared to wizards, Muggles seemed more rational, and they were busy as usual.

Except for a few gangsters who were drinking in front of the convenience store early in the morning, no one else took Xing Ze and Ai seriously.

So much the better. Xing Ze originally thought they would be unpopular, just like they did just now.

Ellie walked into the store. She needed some water and some sweets. She likes to eat sweets to relieve herself when she is nervous or irritable.

The cashier at the convenience store is a chubby black woman with thick curly hair. She is holding a romance novel in her hand and reading it with gusto.

Ali walked to the dessert shelf and while picking through it, she said to Xing Ze, "Did you see the look in their eyes?"

"I see, this is the third time you've asked, Nicks. My answer is the same as the first two times."

The eldest lady curled her lips, "The way they look at us makes me feel bad. There must be something wrong with those people."

"I agree, but this is not our purpose." Xing Ze reached for a bag of potato chips, "If you really care, we can ask the locals and see what they say?"

As he spoke, Xing Ze turned his eyes to the cashier.

"By the way, do you have any Muggle currency?" Ellie asked softly, holding a bunch of things.

Xing Ze walked to the cashier, "I brought it. I suffered a loss the last time I came here."

"That's good." Ellie put a bunch of candies and snacks on the cashier.

The cashier put down the novel and began to count the money nonchalantly. Xing Ze cleared his throat and asked her: "Madam, we are outsiders. I would like to ask, what is the situation over there on Wutong Street?"

"Sycamore Street?" the black woman said in a unique tone, "Are you wizards?"

"No, no, we are not." Xing Ze shook his head, "I have a younger brother who is."

"Oh, did you just move here?"

"Yes, I just moved here a few days ago. This is my sister." Seeing the cashier turn his attention to Ai Li, Xing Ze hurriedly explained.

"Hey, sisters, your makeup is nice. Why are you going to Wutong Street? That place is a gathering place for noble wizards."

Ellie asked with some confusion: "Noble wizard?"

"Aha~, sisters, that's what they said... that..."

"Pure blood?" Ellie guessed.

"Yeah, that's it, pureblood." The cashier said, wagging his finger, "No one likes to go there, believe me, except those pureblood wizards.

"Even those ordinary wizards won't go there, you know, ordinary wizards. I said, that place is weird as hell. The people there don't like outsiders, and they always look at people weirdly."
