The Elemental Tower

Chapter 9:New Female Hero...es!

The Summoning Hall was undoubtedly a huge gamble since there was a much higher chance the player would get Soul Shards rather than Heroes. However, in these kinds of gacha games, players were, as a general rule, given a pity system.

To elaborate, players would be able to get a guaranteed full Hero within every ten rolls.

The Grade of the Hero might not be guaranteed, but since the probabilities of each Grade were random, players would not always get low-Grade Heroes.

Lin Ke kept thinking back to the few minutes of guides and walkthroughs that he had read, trying to find any information that would help him in his current situation.

He vaguely remembered reading this line in one of the guides.

"The two free Summons that the system gives you will always summon Heroes. Using them, you can easily complete the Main Quests in the early-game. You can switch to higher-Grade Heroes in the end-game if you need them."

These words gave Lin Ke an important piece of information.

The two free Summons, one in the Basic Altar and the other in the High-level Altar, were guaranteed to summon complete Heroes.

"Yep, that's a welfare service for players in the early-game. After all, they gotta entice the players to continue playing the game." Lin Ke nodded with a satisfied look. If this gacha system gave Hero Soul Shards even in the early-game, he might be screwed in the near future.

'No, there wouldn't even be a future to begin with. Without a Hero, I won't be able to finish any Quests. Who in the hell would be able to continue playing a game like that?'

Lin Ke immediately went back to the Summoning interface. First, he selected the Basic Altar and used his first Free Summon.

The types of Heroes a player could summon were classified by their different Grades - White, Green, Blue, and Purple, in the order of worst to best. Lin Ke wanted to try his luck and see which Grade of Hero he would get.

With a flash of light. a blue card appeared in front of his eyes.

[Hero Card: Compassionate Priest Lucy.]

Without any hesitation, Lin Ke instantly used the card. The area above the Altar started to glow blue as rays of blue light seeped into the circular enchantment of the Altar. As the blue light flashed brightly, a silhouette suddenly appeared in front of him.

"I'm honored to meet you, my Lord!" A pretty young girl stood on top of the Altar. With long flowing locks of blond hair all the way down to her back, she was wrapped tightly in a sort of linen robe, though that did not stop anyone from seeing her amazing figure.

"I'm honored to meet you too." Lin Ke nodded with a smile. "Please stand behind me for now, I'm preparing to welcome another comrade."

"Yes, my Lord!" Lucy smiled as she bowed slightly, getting off the Altar and standing behind Lin Ke.

As Lucy made her way down, Lin Ke quickly glanced at her status window to check her individual Attributes.

[Compassionate Priest Lucy]

[Level: 1]

[Star: Three Stars]

[Grade: Blue]

[Rating: Leader]

"Her Attributes are a lot lower than Dra's." Lin Ke muttered in his head. She was a mere Three Star, the contrast was stark when placed side-by-side with the Six Star Red Dragon Queen Dra.

However, her Rating definitely piqued Lin Ke's interest. As he looked over at the introduction regarding Leaders, he was much more relieved.

[With above-average talent, Leaders are often admired by their own kind. They can be considered the cream of the crop.]

After summoning Lucy, the Basic Altar was now on a cooldown timer. After 72 hours, another free summon would be available. Of course, players could continue to use Summoning Cards to summon, but that was an item that Lin Ke had yet to find.

When Lucy finally went behind his back, Lin Ke shifted his focus over to the High-level Altar's free summon.

This moment was what Lin Ke was waiting for. He prayed for a miracle, hoping that he would summon a Dark Gold Grade Hero just like Red Dragon Queen Dra. He wanted another Hero to carry him through the early game.

While praying, Lin Ke initiated the summoning with the High-level Altar. When the first ray of golden light shined out from above the High-level Altar, he first felt disappointed. There went his chance to summon a Dark Gold Grade Hero. However, seeing the Golden card in front of him, he still felt a slight sense of happiness.

After all, the only difference between the Altars was that the High-level Altar had increased the Grade cap of the summonings, allowing players to summon Gold and Dark Gold Grade Heroes, in addition to the Grades that they could summon in the Basic Altar. If his luck had been worse, it was not an impossibility to have summoned another Blue Hero.

Although this summoning did not give him a Dark Gold Grade Hero, it at least gave him the second-best option - a Gold Hero. If he had posted this in the game's forums that he browsed before being transported here, it would most likely draw the envy and ire of other players.

[Hero Card: Elven Archer Avina]

After summoning the Elven Archer Avina, the High-level Altar also showed the same cooldown timer, signifying that in 72 hours, Lin Ke could attempt another free summon.

Additionally, players could spend 300 Diamonds or a High-level Summoning Card to summon more Heroes. However, as Lin Ke sat there with only 10 Diamonds, he could not do anything other than watch on idly.

While Lin Ke looked at the energetic yet graceful Elven Archer, his heart skipped a beat. He immediately summoned her to the Altar.

As golden light flashed out, the Elven Archer Avina appeared in front of him.

Avina was quite tall, in fact, Lin Ke's height could only reach Avina's shoulders. Lin Ke was already around 1.8 meters tall, but Avina was standing at over 2 meters tall. When seen as a group, she basically looked like she was towering over Lin Ke and company.

Checking out her appearance, her looks were that of a typical Elf from Lin Ke's memory. However, despite long pointy ears being an Elf's signature trait, this Elven Archer Avina's ears were only slightly pointier than the average human. On the bright side, she looked as charming as any stereotypical Elf would be.

"I'm honored to meet you, my Lord!" The Elven Archer Avina greeted him in the same manner. Without Lin Ke having to say a word, she made her way over to him.

At this point, Lin Ke was curious. As an Archer, where was Avina's bow?

However, this was a trivial matter. Lin Ke once again opened the status window for Avina as he checked out her individual Attributes.

[Elven Archer Avina]

[Level: 1]

[Star: Five Stars]

[Grade: Gold]

[Rating: Nightmare]

In comparison to Red Dragon Queen Dra, she was just one star behind. It was much better in contrast with the Blue Grade Compassionate Priest.

The introduction regarding Nightmares was also quite promising.

[When facing Nightmares, instead of choosing to face them, a lot of people would instead choose to end themselves.]

This explanation made Nightmares seem much stronger than Leaders. Furthermore, this indirectly explained Elven Archer Avina's strengths. When up against her, A lot of people would rather choose death than face an existence like hers. With that in mind, it could be seen that a Five-Star Hero would already start messing with the opponent's psyche.

After Avina proceeded to move behind Lin Ke, he turned around to take a look at the three. All of these babes had their own strengths, with the Red Dragon Queen Dra obviously having the most superior aura out of the three. When standing side-by-side, people's gaze would naturally shift to her.

As a Blue Grade, Lucy's appearance did not draw too much attention. When looking solely at her, she was unbelievably charming. However, when standing next to these two, she could, at most, be seen as a sideshow.

"Does this game only have female Heroes?" Lin Ke looked over at the three beautiful Heroes as a thought suddenly popped into his mind. "In that case, wouldn't the future me be living in a harem world?"

However, that was merely a thought, though it did leave Lin Ke a little flustered. As someone with little to no experience with women, he definitely had an inclination towards that sort of world.

Shaking his head, he tried to put that thought in the backburner for now. At this point, what he needed to do was to survive in this world. He could think about all of that when his safety was guaranteed.

Now, he had to go take a look at the Summoning Hall. This facility had also been completed.
