The Divine Wolf...or?

Chapter 53 - Newfound Powers!

After hearing this voice in his head, Ark couldn't keep his consciousness anymore and he passed out, the pain was simply too much. As he laid still on the floor, the elements were dancing around in his little tree, painting a rather mystical scene as they intertwined with each other and flew about. If anyone were to witness this scene, they were sure to be shocked out of their minds. Seeing the different elements all dancing around happily with each other was simply something that didn't happen. It speaks for itself a little, would you ever see water and fire in a harmonious relationship? Probably not, and this wasn't just water and fire, these were all the elements in Ark's surroundings.

The relationship between water and fire is even used in idioms and sayings just because it is so iconic!

Since the elements were working together for once, all the blood around Ark was cleaned up due to their combined efforts, and his fur was even more glistening than it usually was. The elements resembled loyal servants serving their master, cleaning up his surroundings, tending to and even taking care of him. Multiple hours passed by in the blink of an eye as Ark was unconscious, but finally, his eyelids started to twitch.

Ark woke up with a jump, and he instantly shot up, standing on all fours. He felt really uneasy, and he started looking all around him in an attempt to figure something out. As he looked all around him, he was a little surprised. In the air around him, the different elements seemed to be in complete harmony, and they were currently all revolving around him, in an attempt to please him. Ark didn't really know what was going on, but he was a little off-put by this whole ordeal.

As he was pondering a little, something suddenly struck him. Didn't he get a skill or something before passing out? He vaguely remembered hearing that monotone voice in his head before he passed out, but he had no idea what it actually said. The only way to actually find out what it had said though, was by checking out his status. Every time that voice had said something so far, it had something to do with his status.

Overlord Of The Elements

As Ark saw these changes, he was utterly dumbfounded, this was a bit too drastic, wasn't it? He wasn't stupid, and he could guess that he had gotten all of these affinities because of his new skill, but still, this was a little absurd. He had all of a sudden gotten the ability to use almost all of the elements. These were the only elements he knew of, but he wasn't sure if it was all of them, not that it mattered right now.

Since the skill seemed to be the root of it all, he decided to use "Inspect" on it.

[Overlord Of The Elements]

Grants the host authority over the different elements.

Grants the host affinities towards the different elements, and upgrades existing ones.

Also grants the host the title "Overlord"

As Ark read this, he was a little astounded, this skill was basically cheating! Reading the description of the skill also brought something new to his attention that he had apparently missed when he went through his status. He had gotten a title. He didn't know what a title did, but he knew he didn't have the option of a title beforehand, so this was something new. He, therefore, decided to use "Inspect" on this new title of his as well.

[Overlord]

Makes the elements and spirits more affectionate towards the host.

Reading this also made Ark a little surprised. This title seemed to be pretty powerful as well. Magic would be easier if the elements liked him after all, and he would also get a flat increase in magical power. What dumbfounded him a little bit was the mention of spirits. He had no idea what a spirit was. He had heard of similar things in his old world, but he didn't really bother to listen at the time, this didn't have to be the same thing either way. Since he didn't know and couldn't find out right now, Ark decided to put it at the back of his head for now. There was no use in worrying about something which he had no control over.

As he had suddenly gotten a huge power spike, Ark wanted to test out his prowess, but there was a slight problem, he didn't have the time to. It was already approaching noon, and with no real way to tell the time other than the position of the sun, Ark didn't want to gamble on this matter. If he did something wrong, then he would probably die, and was it really worth it to gamble with his life just because he wanted to test out his new powers a little? No. You only live once, and it's up to each individual to savor that life. Well, this was technically Ark's second life, but he had never really felt that way.

Having this mindset, Ark decided that it was probably for the better if he started to head to Farimond immediately. Even though he only had 2 hours in his human form, he could sit in the forest as a wolf until he saw them arrive. He would also make sure to learn all their names today, he had kind of forgotten about it, but he would have to call these people his comrades for the next foreseeable future.

Now that he thought about it a little, what would happen to Thufrat? Hopefully, he would be healthy since that was part of the contract, but other than that, what would he do? Ark was a little annoyed. He had originally thought that he would be able to travel and explore the world with Thufrat, whilst just doing what he wanted to. But that wouldn't be happening anymore, and he was a little sad because of it. He really didn't want to part with his only friend this early, besides, who knew what these rebels would have in store for him? Would he be able to even see him again? Ark didn't know, but he was starting to get a little stressed out.

He also felt a bit of resentment towards humans right now. When did things ever go right when they were involved? They seemed like they just had to fuċk things up no matter what the circumstance was, and Ark almost wished he was just a part of some other intelligent race.. What was so good about humans anyway? Except for how handy their bodies were? But there were other races out there with similar physiques, so why did Ark even feel like he wanted to become human again? He was starting to question some things which he thought was obvious before, and he just felt confused at the moment.
