The Black Necromancer

284 The Familiar Stranger

Leon's abrupt yell drew quite a bit of attention from the people walking the streets, but thankfully, they were not many at this time.

"Ah, sorry." Leon grinned abashedly and held the back of his head before running after Michael. He had to be careful because of the ice on the floor, though. But he quickly heated up the bottom of his shoes, making the ice melt before he could even step down. The rest was easy.

"Yes, I had been scoping you out for a few days, waiting for the right moment." Michael replied without even looking back at Leon.

"So, you mean that truck..." Leon trailed off, his voice a bit shaky.

"Yes, that was me." Michael affirmed casually.

"..." Leon's clenched fist shook as he tried to hold himself back. In the end, he simply just sighed and shook his head, shooting Michael a glare. "Damn you."

Michael did not even show the slightest sign of concern and kept on walking, prompting Leon to also push the matter aside for the time being. The two of them continued to walk through the familiar streets before they arrived in front of a diner that made Leon's heart squeeze as memories came rushing back. All those memories had nearly been forgotten as he immersed himself in his adventures and escapades in his new world.

"Megan's Diner." He whispered.

Ding!

The bell above the door rang out automatically as Michael pushed open on side of the double doors. He turned back to look at Leon, and the latter sighed and followed him in, pulling up his face mask. He was not yet sure if he should speak to Megan and James, or if he should just watch them from afar.

Leon took the lead as he led them to a table in the corner of the diner. It was tucked in a quiet corner of the diner where they could speak at moderate tones without announcing their discussion to the rest of the diner.

"I had come in here a few times while keeping note of you." Michael said with a small smile as he sat down.

"And how did I not notice someone as eye catching as you?" Leon bit back as he took his own seat.

"Because I came looking more down to earth." Michael rolled his eyes and picked up the menu in front of him. He had manipulated his looks to keep himself lowkey, but now, he did not need to put up any fronts, as he had already achieved his goal.

"Hmm..." Leon hummed and also picked up his menu. He was already familiar with the dishes on the menu, but he felt the need to refresh that memory.

"Hello, welcome to Megan's Diner, are you ready to order?" Leon looked up and eyed the young man that had come to attend to them, wearing the red uniform shirt of the diner.

"I will have a burger and coke." Michael spoke up and dropped the menu.

"Alright." The brown haired young man nodded and wrote down Michael's order before turning to Leon. "What about you, sir?"

"Uhm, give me a chicken burger, no ketchup, and a coke." Leon smiled and nodded his head.

"Alright, your order will be here in a couple of minutes." The young man smiled again before turning around and heading to the kitchen.

"It seems they have hired a replacement for you." Michael hummed.

"What did you expect? It will be difficult to run this place with just Megan and James." Leon shrugged.

Ding!

Just then, the bell rang out and Leon's eyes flicked to the new entry. To his surprise, the people that had just entered the diner were rather familiar to him!

Rowan and Andrew sighed as they took off their heavy winter coats and sat down at a table not far from Leon and Michael. As they sat down, Rowan's eyes clashed with Leon's purple ones, and Leon instantly turned away, causing the man to frown. But he did not say anything and instead turned to Andrew.

"Hey, look at those two over there. They look really nice." Rowan whispered to his friend, but unknown to him, Leon and Michael could hear everything clearly. Leon rolled his eyes as he imagined that the two might approach them to ask if they could be models.

Leon turned his attention to the approaching brown haired young man with his and Michael's orders in his hand. On closer look, it turned out that he only had Michael's order. The door leading to the kitchen swung open and Megan stepped out, holding Leon's order in a tray in her hand. She had a fairly happy look on her face as she took a look at her two friends that had come to visit, but she ignored them for the time being as she came over with Leon's order.

The young man served Michael with a smile and hurried to Rowan and Andrew's table to serve them, while Megan came over.

"Hello, welcome to Megan's Diner. I haven't seen you two here before." Megan smiled as she spoke, but Leon could see the corner of her lips twitching as she spoke. Her gaze was also focused on Leon.

'Ah, she must be able to spot a few resemblances.' Leon thought to himself. He reached up to pull down his face mask, but at the same time, his face underwent slight changes that made him look even more different from his actual self. It was only mild, but the changes were so clear that it was obvious he was not the same person.

"Ah, yes. We are new in town, and were only passing by when we decided to stop here." Leon replied as he pulled down his face mask. Michael opted to remain quiet as he ate his burger.

Upon seeing the familiar stranger's face before her, Megan's smile drooped slightly, but she soon regained her composure.

"Ah, I see. Well, I hope you enjoy your stay." She nodded and turned to leave, but Leon could not miss the sadness that swept over her face briefly before she arrived at the table of her two friends.
