Li Shengxia was not a person who was prone to anger and recklessness like her younger sister. She was still calm after her mother had slapped her.

Li Shengxia looked at Tang Li calmly. It seemed like she felt that she had not done anything wrong. "I don't like to be a homewrecker. That night was an accident. We were drunk that night. I promise never to meet him again."

She did not seem to be faking that either.

But, Tang Li had received a call from Li Wenyan the next day.

It was the first time he had called her after she had got married to Han Jifeng. 

They met at the villa where she had been living for two years in the eastern suburbs.

Li Wenyan was sitting in the living room. He placed a divorce settlement on the table when she came.

"I have read through the divorce settlement. It's not an unfair treatment to you. Quickly sign it when you're done reading."

She was stunned by how cold he sounded.

Li Wenyan was annoyed by her response so he said, "Your aunt and sister argued with each other when they returned from the Han family."

He raised his black eyes and looked at her again. "Jifeng told me that the two of you have never slept together after your marriage. If that's the case, why don't you sign the divorce settlement? Then, you can leave and go overseas.

"Living overseas might be better for you given how things are now."

"What if I don't want to sign it?" She asked him after a long while.

That was also the first time she had disobeyed Li Wenyan.

Even so, she no longer had any kind of expectation for her father. But, she still felt great pain when she realized that Li Wenyan only cared for his two other daughters. 

She gave a long sigh when she thought about her past.

She could not help but narrow her eyes when she saw the blinding lights under the night sky. The road was crowded with cars too.

She also could not forget about the fire accident.

She had fallen into an impasse with Han Jifeng because she had refused to sign the divorce settlement.

Tang Li had forgotten when it was but Li Shengxia had asked her out one day.

The cafe was on fire. Han Jifeng had come to the rescue. He had rushed into the scene and saved the unconscious Li Shengxia. But, Tang Li was left all alone in the fire.

The roof beam had fallen on her and crushed both her legs. Her back was burned too. 

Although she was saved, she became a cripple who could not live without the crutches.

It started to drizzle.

Tang Li did not know how long she had been walking on the road. She walked aimlessly until the rain started falling on her face.

She stretched her hand out and enjoyed the rain under the lamplight. The rain seemed to feel like mist instead.

She had never dared to do such a thing like running away from home in her former life. She was never reckless before.

No one understood her more than herself. She was not a timid mouse. 

When she had come to the Li family, all of the made-up truths suffocated her day by day. It reminded her daily until she started to doubt herself every night. Li Wenyan had even ignored her existence. In the end, she became quiet and she rarely talked. 

Moreover, she felt like she should never have been born.

It was just like what Li Yuan'er had said. What right did she have to live under the sun given that she was nothing but an illegitimate daughter?

Tang Li closed her eyes.

If she was pushed to live in hell, then all of the Li family members should live in hell with her!

A black umbrella suddenly appeared above her head.

Tang Li opened her eyes and turned around instinctively.

It was the handsome youth who was called Ji Ming. He was wearing a suit. He appeared respectful in front of her. 

"Sir said that the rain is getting heavier. Miss Li, you better head home."
