Chapter 47: The Way Song Boyan Looked at Her Could Calm Her Down.

Song Boyan had now turned around and looked at them.

Upon arriving at the scene, Li Wenyan broke into a bright smile. “Old Xiao’s secretary told us that he saw Minister Song here. Hence, I have made a bet with Old Xiao to see whether you are here. You’re really here!”

Song Boyan shook hands with Li Wenyan. “I came to work out since it is the weekend.”

Li Wenyan wanted to say something more but he noticed a girl who was standing beside Song Boyan.

His face darkened when he saw who she was. He suppressed his great desire to scold her in front of everybody. He turned to apologize to Song Boyan. “Ah Li is still young. She’s quite insensible. Her aunt is looking everywhere for her now. Who would have known that she is here?”

After that, he tried to hint at Tang Li by giving her a stern look. He wanted her to leave as soon as possible.

Tang Li felt that it was quite sarcastic.

In fact, Li Wenyan was that kind of hypocrite.

To him, Tang Li’s existence was a stain in his life. This daughter was an existence that could not be revealed in the public. That was why he was against the notion of Tang Li socializing with anybody. He was afraid that the public would know about him manipulating a woman to gain higher means in his life.

That year, the Li family was slowly going downhill.

If Lin Wenyan had not managed to resolve that drug case, he would not have been promoted at work. On the other hand, if he had lost that precious chance, he would never have been able to be appointed as a minister.

Tang Li was about to retort to Li Wenyan. But, Song Boyan managed to voice out first. He said gently with his deep voice, “It was I who has seen Minister Li’s daughter first. I had asked Ji Ming to call her in to speak with her.”

Li Wenyan was slightly stunned when he heard what Song Boyan had said.

After a while, he smiled politely. “Ah Li did not live with us when she was young. That’s why she is a rather reckless girl. If she annoys you, please don’t be angry at her.”

“It’s fine.” Song Boyan gave him a faint smile. “Girls should be simple and naïve at her age. It’s not a good thing if you control her too much.”

Then, he looked at Tang Li again.

He seemed gentle, warm, and forgiving to her.

The way he looked at her calmed her down somehow.

Xia Zhengguo then smiled and said, “Daughters are precious jewels. Minister Li treats his daughter just like he would his son. He is always stern and strict toward her. Be careful if your daughter is not close to you in the future.”

Li Wenyan seemed calmer now. “I’ll be grateful is she doesn’t create any trouble for me. I don’t hope that she would be close to me.”

It sounded like a father’s helplessness and adoration for his daughter.

But, Tang Li knew very well that Li Wenyan was not joking.

In fact, Li Wenyan meant every single word he had said. He did not wish for her to be filial to him in the future.

Her value in the Li family now lied in her marriage. If the arranged marriage was successful, Li Wenyan would gain another politician as his comrade.

Tang Li left the gym before them.

She could still hear their voices clearly when she reached the door. Xia Zhengguo said, “Minister Song will surely be much busier if the law of the medicine reformation is approved. We might not be able to meet you here in the future.”

Li Wenyan then said, “There are about a few hundred seats in the House of Representatives. Most of them have agreed to the reformation. However, there are still a few underlying problems that need further discussion and consideration.

“If the reformation is approved, medical insurance will be able to cover a larger area. As a consequence, the medical system will fall into a chaotic situation. After a few years, the financial burden will become higher as time goes by.

“Attorney General Xia is responsible for the Ministry of Justice. However, he rarely has the chance to meet with the president. That was why he does not get to raise his opinion in front of the president. Hence, he needs Brother Song’s opinion.”

By now, Song Boyan had sat down at the training equipment again. He did not join their conversation.
