Chapter 98 - “Is he as handsome as I am?” (3)

STOP RIGHT THERE!

Gu Nian slammed on the brake when her thought had drifted dangerously close to the edge of the cliff.

She shook her head and panicked.

Wake up, Gu Nian! You had promised yourself that you would be a firm member in the mother department!

“What’s the matter?”

“!”

A sudden mellow voice brought Gu Nian’s conscious back. Holding tightly onto the jacket mixed with an unfamiliar smell and warmth, she looked up and smiled.

“No, nothing. We should hurry down.”

Luo Xiu gave her another thoughtful look. Looking over her eyes and cheeks gently, the little bit of dark light dimmed in his eyes and he had, once again, put on a gentle and harmless smile.

“Let’s.”

The last pleasant surprise was set at a little restaurant at the foothill.

This was a well-known bistro in the small town. It looked like a retro-restaurant from the outside and, behind the restaurant, there were a few old-school courtyards for different purposes.

Gu Nian seemed to be very familiar with it but it was Luo Xiu’s first time there.

The area that the filming crew had picked were not crowded nor was it the peak of tourist season. As such, the bistro was not too busy.

When Gu Nian and Luo Xiu had arrived, there were only three other patrons in addition to the worker at the front desk.

Two of the patrons looked to be a young couple and they were studying what looked like a pamphlet. The other woman was by herself; she looked like she was waiting for someone.

Gu Nian pulled out a little wooden sign when she walked inside. When the person at the front desk looked up and was about to say something, Gu Nian waved the sign in her hand. “We have a reservation.”

The person nodded. “Welcome.”

They looked back down after they said that.

Before going upstairs, Gu Nian hesitated for a little bit before turning to Luo Xiu and said awkwardly, “Can you wait for me here for just a minute?”

Luo Xiu looked up at her, “?”

Gu Nian pointed at the stairs. “I want to go upstairs and make sure that all the preparation has been completed.”

Luo Xiu nodded understandably. “Sure, I will wait for you right here.”

“Okay! I will be right back!”

The girl dashed away before she even finished talking. She looked like a butterfly flying up the stairs when looked at from the back.

Ever since he had met her, Luo Xiu had never seen her as lively as she was today. Especially when his little assistant had told him that the girl was always dispirited like she was groggy or low on battery when he was not around.

[I have pictured the day that I can spend Mr. Luo Xiu’s birthday with him many, many times. Now that it is truly happening, you have no idea how happy I am.]

Watching the silhouette that flew upstairs in a matter of seconds, Luo Xiu couldn't help but lowered his eyes and smiled.

Was she really that happy?

At that very moment, the girl in the couple looked up and, once she caught sight of Luo Xiu, she could not look away again. Tugging at the sleeve of her boyfriend, she said, “Look. That man is so handsome.”

“Is he as handsome as me?”

“? ? Don’t you think you have a little bit more self-awareness? Take a good look and tell the truth, tell me if you think he’s as handsome as you.”

“Ahem… I heard that some filming crew had arrived recently so he’s probably an actor of sort. What kind of regular people have that kind of time for skincare and makeup? Of course we won’t look as good.”

“You are just envious.”

“… …”

The little couple’s volume was sometimes higher than other and Luo Xiu could catch bits and pieces of their conversation. He, however, did not care much about what they were talking about.

He stood next to the stairs with his eyes lowered. Suddenly, his phone vibrated inside of his pants. Luo Xiu looked at the number that was not saved.

It was a call from Zhuo Yixuan.
