The path to the patio were paved with a spiral granite stairway. Every meter or so, there were very sleek lights there lighting up the paths.

The hill was not tall but there was still a small rest area between the foothill and the patio.

When Gu Nian and Luo Xiu walked around half of the stairway and were just a few steps away from the rest area, they heard a familiar voice coming from around the corner suggesting that the speaker was on the edge of breaking down––

“Sister Xing, just kill me now! If my boss ever finds out about this, I’ll be lucky to even die in a gentle way!”

Gu Nian was taken aback a little.

She turned to look at Luo Xiu. Her very soft voice lost in the sound of the waves.

“That sounded like Qi Han.”

Luo Xiu was standing a few steps below her. The shadow from the rest platform casted down and conveniently hid half of him. It was difficult to see the look on him.

His voice, however, was gentle as usual.

It’d seem like Qi Han was chatting with someone. His voice paused for a little and resumed. “No, this is his company. He had the final say on how to arrange the guests…… Yes, yes. I know that Sister Xing is the Program Director, but the boss still outranks the Program Director –– You let in such a big thunder without his permission. The sea breeze broke up his voice.

Gu Nian could only catch bits and pieces of it. She turned with hesitation after it had quieted down and said to Luo Xiu in a low voice. “The boss of BH sounds very scary.”

The tall and slender body paused in the shadow.

Or that she had misheard.

Gu Nian thought that Luo Xiu did not agree with what she had said and quickly tried to salvage the situation, “I am not speaking poorly of him. I just wanted to remind you.”

Gu Nian was taken aback a little.

The conversation seemed to be coming to an end.

Gu Nian let out a sigh of relief. The way she saw it, Qi Han would head toward the patio after he was done with the call, and they would wait a minute or two before they go up. That ought to minimize a lot of the awkwardness.

Gu Nian, however, had yet to finish her thought before she felt pressure around her wrist.

Gu Nian looked up, dazed.

Walking up the few flights of stairs from below her, Luo Xiu walked past her and took her in the direction of the rest area. “Let’s head up there. This is too chilly over here.”

“But––“

Before Gu Nian could finish what she was saying, she could start seeing what was going on on the platform as she climbed up the stairs. She saw Qi Han, who was pacing back and forth, troubled.

He had just finished his call, turned around, and froze in front of the railing.

Qi Han looked desperately at the very familiar silhouette holding a slightly nervous girl in his hand, walking up the stairs from in front of him.

Qi Han: This is it for me.

Now that he was already up and their eyes had met, it was too late to hide and pretend that they didn’t see them.
