62 Chicken Noodle Soup
"Mila? Sweetie you have to eat or else you're not going to be able to study for your midterms that are coming up next week."
I opened my eyes as I felt warmth fill my whole body. It was as if I was on fire. My throat burns as if I had ate saw dust or sandpaper. My vision was slightly blurry as my head rested on a soft pillow. My mother's voice continued to softly fill my ears as my terrible state got even worse.
"Mom?"
"Yes sweetie?"
"I'm sorry."
"What are you sorry for Mila?"
Hot tears ran down my cheeks as my mother stirred a small bowl in her hands. Her dirty blonde hair tied up in a lazy bun as her soft amber eyes rested on me with concern. Her beautiful and compassionate face wrinkled as she worried about me. Suddenly my bedroom door opened as my younger teen sister and dad walked in. My sister's blonde hair shone as she smiled and said.
"What an idiot. We live in Seattle yet she walks around without an umbrella."
My sister pouted as my dad slapped the back of her head playfully.
"Be nice to your sister Sia. She's been pushing herself these days preparing for her midterms, while you've been running around with your friends chasing boys."
"I wasn't chasing boys daddy, we were going to the library to study."
My father sighed before he walked up to the side of my bed as he touched my burning forehead. A look of concern filled his soft features. He adjusted his glasses. A habit that he would do whenever he was nervous. My heart clenched as I looked at my family. Just a few minutes ago I was in the ship coughing blood. This must be a dream. Maybe I should apologize to my family for the pain that I had caused them when I died.
"I'm sorry for all the trouble that I've put you guys through. For all the pain that I've caused you guys and made you go through."
Ugh. I think that I'm sick with the flu or something. I feel like utter shit. My mother chuckled as she leaned in and brought the small spoon to my lips. She then turned to my sister and dad who sat next to my bed.
"The two of you get out of here! I don't have the energy or tone to take care of two other sick bitches if you contract her sickness!"
My father and sister saluted my mother as they sarcastically bowed and said.
"Aye, aye captain!"
My mother then turned to look at me with a soft smile as she reached over and gave me another spoon of soup. The door behind her slammed shit as my dad and sister left.
The tears continued to fall down my cheeks as I let the hot slightly salty liquid enter my mouth. My mom's chicken noodle soup is the best. Since I was a toddler my mom would make it for me whenever I got sick. Despite the fact that I hate peas and carrots I still eat it after seeing the effort she puts into it.
A few minutes later the small bowl was empty as I felt my stomach swoosh from how full it is. My mother kissed the top of my head as she pulled the covers up to cover me. She then placed a cool towel on my forehead as my fever burned. Despite how shitty I felt, my heart was leaping with happiness. As I hear my mom open the door to my room I said.
"I love you mom."
My mom looked at me with her usual small smile and lit up eyes. The statement that I had longed to listen to for a long time came to me.
"I love you too sweetie. Now stop talking and rest up. When you get better there's a new show that you have to catch up on with me on Netflix!"
I smiled as I felt my eyelids droop. Even if this was just a dream, I wish that I could never wake up.
