I held onto Baron's hand as we walked into the village near the Marquis. My heart constricted as I thought of the purpose to this date. For some reason the warmth I felt from Baron seemed to calm me down.

"Hey mom look at how small that girl is next to her husband!"

I turned to see a little boy dressed in regular cloth clothes as his mother looked at us and chuckled. I flushed. That little fucking brat!

I stuck out my tongue at the kid and flipped him off. The kid glared at me as he walked away with his mom. I felt something tumble next to me. I looked to see Baron laugh. I blushed and turned my face away. The village was prosperous despite its primitivity.

People laughed, drank, and talked as they walked by the stalls. Awe filled me as I looked at the things being sold. Jewelry, charms, household items, fresh produce, and meat. I smiled. I guess that reincarnating in this time period isn't that bad.

I pulled Baron's hand towards a stall that was selling apples. Women passed by and smiled at Baron seductively. Seriously? Right in front of me? How shameless. I turned to the merchant. His Irish accent as prominent as ever.

"Hello Beautiful Miss! How many would you like?"

I smiled. How welcoming. The merchant was a middle aged man who is of short stature. I sighed. We are both on the same boat.

"How much is it per pound?"

The merchant looked at me in confusion.

"I'm sorry Miss but what is a pound? We only sell the apples by the count."

I slapped my forehead. Damn me. I'm not in a farmer's market in the 21st century. Get your shit together Mila.

"Okay then, how much is it per apple?"

"Two doubloons."

That seems reasonable but the Marquis only gave me 30 doubloons. What a cheapskate!

"I'll take 10 for one doubloon a piece. What do you say merchant sir?"

The merchant shook his head.

"I'm sorry miss but I need to sell them for two doubloons a piece."

I held an apple and turned to the merchant.

"So you're selling worm infested apples for two doubloons a piece? I'm pretty generous for offering one doubloon an apple."

I handed to him an apple which had a worm wriggling on it. The merchant looked flustered as onlookers began to notice the commotion. Actually his apples were quite fresh but I've always been sensitive to bugs. I've noticed this apple with a worm in it since I came to the stall.

The merchant nodded as he nervously chuckled.

"Okay miss, I can give them to you for 10 doubloons."

I smiled.

"Thank you merchant sir! I will be sure to tell the Marquis of your kindness."

The merchant brightened as he gave me some free pears on the side. Baron chuckled as he looked at how I was holding the apples and pears.

"My wife is quite the smart bargainer."

"Why don't you bargain with me?"

I scooted to the left a little. Baron's expression was pained before he moved back.

"Never mind you are quite a difficult woman. But I, Baron enjoy the challenge."

Me and Baron continued to shop as we walked down the village. We then reached a circular area which had a fountain in the middle. Couples and families sat near the fountain as they chatter and ate. I breathed in the light spring air and exhaled in relief. What a calm setting. My eyes slid over to see a figure watch me and Baron. I bit my lip.

That son of a bitch Marquis! I have actually underestimated him! Well I have to play along with him only until he pays me the down payment and ship. This way Baron, Weston, Francois and I can continue on our expedition to the Bermuda Triangle. I have decided to stay in this time period some more. The Bermuda Triangle has always interested me after all. And the people here aren't that bad.

I looked at the people surrounding Baron and me. I need to get this guy off me and Baron's trail.

I placed the fruits on the edge of the fountain and turned to Baron. I then whispered.

"Baron do you trust me?"

Baron nodded as confusion filled his features. A second later his face was turned to the side as he looked at me in shock. My hand burning where I slapped Baron. His right cheek had a red handprint. The crowd quieted as they dispersed. I turned to see the man following us smile and walk away. I sighed in relief and caressed Baron's injuries cheek. I backed away as I looked at his anger filled eyes.

"Mila would you please explain to me why you have just slapped me on our first date?"

I sighed and patted the spot next to me on the fountain. Baron clenched his fists and day next to me. I told him about everything with the Marquis and how there was someone following us. Baron was silent the whole time.

"Why did you make such a deal Mila?"

I sighed and stretched.

"I did so that we could get a ship and some money for our expedition tot he Bermuda Triangle."

Baron nodded as he scratched his chin in thought. He then leaned in and smiled as looked into my eyes.

"Well Mila dear, how are yo going to compensate for the slap that you've just given me?"

I turned away to avoid his sultry gaze.

"Why do I have to compensate for it? This is for the best of our crews after all."

Baron then took my hand and kissed it from my palm until my wrist. I shivered as I pulled my burning hand back. What the hell was that? My face flushed as Baron chuckled and put his hands on he sides of my face. He hen leaned in and placed his lips on mine. I tried to push him away but I was too weak.

I felt like was melting as he kissed me. How is it possible that this man was gettin better at kissing? Or is it that I have grown accustomed to his touch? I moaned as he released my lips and then devoured them once more. Our tongues twirled and moved in sync as butterflies filled my stomach. I then pulled way as I struggled to breath.

I covered my mouth in embarrassment as Baron chuckled huskily. He then pulled my hand and stood up.

"You're still such a lousy kisser. But don't worry my dear wife we will have more opportunities for you to practice."

Motherfucker! I turned away from his laughter. What a shameless son of a bitch. Baron then hugged me from behind as he whispered.

"My dear Mila please don't be mad. Please honor this poor man with some mercy."

My lips quivered as I turned and pecked his cheek.

"I will grant this poor man with mercy if he continues to accompany me for the rest of the duration of this date."

Baron beamed as he walked ahead of me.

"Why don't we continue to enjoy our date Mila dear?"

I smiled and stood up as he led me away from the fountain.

"Yes let's Baron sweetie."

As Baron's large hand covered my small one my heart felt like it was going to jump out of my chest. Despite the absurdity of the situation, I've come to like this unruly Pirate King. How absurd indeed.
