Silent Hacker

Chapter 95:Human Upgrade

"Hmmm... you guess is as good as mine. I couldn't understand this but suddenly..." I look over to the center of the temple at a lost for words. "I saw this blinding light... I got a really bad headache and then passed out... once I woke up, I could read it." I say at a loss.

Chip scrunches his nose causing his whiskers to rise as he says "So like a human upgrade?" This time I tilt my head in thought. "Heh... I guess in a way it was. Anyway, this place is pretty mysterious but I seem to have stumbled across a gold mine. With this, we can find our way back to our world."

Chip seems excited as he says "What can I do?" I frown but say "I don't have anything to transfer what I know to you at the moment so maybe you can just scan everything so we can always have a copy." Chip nods his head and begins to work.

I smile and for the first time, I feel myself relaxing. It was good to have my partner, friend, and family back. I look back to the text and begin reading again. I needed to read this as fast as I possibly can... and once the sun came back up Chip and I can go out so I can find a bush or tree to pee behind.

"Maya... Maya!" Chip yells breaking me out of the weird trance I found myself in as I read. "Sorry Chip, what's wrong?" Chip frowns but looks up at the ceiling saying "It's morning. We can go out so you can pee. I also want to take a look around this place."

I nod and rub my eyes saying "Thank the lord... my bladder is about to burst. When you go to look around... you need to be careful okay? The Crawler that crept into the house before is here." Chip nods his head saying "I know you told me. I'll be careful, I promise."

I nod in satisfaction as I walk over to the large door. I bring my wrapped hand up to the lock but freeze... I take a deep breath and slide the lock over. I pull the large door open and flinch against the super bright red sun.

A wave of heat hits me and I fight against the urge to cough. This world used to be covered in lush greens and lots of water. It was full of life but now everything was dead and it was even hard to breathe. I step out into the sun and frown when I feel my already burnt skin stinging.

He raises a kitty brow at me in question and I give him a small smile saying "Let's just walk around real quick so I can go back to reading... Plus this sun is too intense. The air is horrible too..." Chip looks to my cheeks then to my shoulders and arms before he frowns.

"It seems that it is indeed unfavorable for you. Let's hurry." Chip says taking off at a fast pace. I quickly follow him as we look around the temple but just like before... everything is dead. The wooded area becomes denser the further you go but I wasn't going to walk into there.

It became darker and darker in there and it seems like the creatures prefer the darkness. *Cough cough cough* "Can we go back now?" I ask wiping the sweat off my neck. Chip frowns looking me over and nods his head in agreement.

I waste no time in returning, nearly running in the process. After we were back into the pleasantly cool temple I push the door closed and lock it. *Cough cough* I look around the temple to make sure nothing decided to come in.

Chip does the same and only after we know we're alone do I pull out my water bottle. I finish the first water bottle and frown. I look back to the text and my frown grows... I need to hurry. I walk over to where I left off and continue reading.

We were going to get out of here... even if it's the last this I do.
