Silent Hacker

The scream is so high pitched and loud it has Alec and I both covering our ears. I quickly shake myself and grab my gun. I point at the creepy creature while I look between him and Alec. "You have some nerve to come in here and try to touch what belongs to me," Alec says in a low threatening voice.

Belongs to you? I find myself frowning but when the creepy thing speaks I move closer to Alec. "You say the Charmer belongs to you but she doesn't carry your mark or your scent.." Its voice was rough and thin... like wasn't used to speaking.

"Mark my words crawler... This Charmer is mine." Alec says in a low threatening voice that even has my skin crawling. The creature then twists its head around much like an owl only much creepier as it looks to me. "Is it true Charmer? Do you belong to this beast?" It asks in a low voice.

I look to Alec's back then back to the creature in confusion but when I don't say anything the creature beings to smile. The smile takes up its entire face as it says "If you choose me I will make you happy. I will build you the perfect nest. I will even bring you all the food you desire..."

At his words, I quickly move to Alec and lean against him as I say "I belong to him..." in a trembling voice. The thing screams again in anger and lunges at me but before it can touch me Alec has the thing by the throat. He then tries to rip its head off but the creature begins screaming so loudly that Alec drops the thing.

It then launches itself at the window and crashes through it as lightning flashes again. The storm was still over us and with the window now busted the wind pushed the rain inside the room wetting everything. I was still shaking as I look at the broken window... what the hell?

"Are you okay?" Alec asks bending over in front of me and kneeling by the bed. I look to his black eyes and feel myself numbly nodding. "What happened?" The others ask by the bedroom door. I look over to them then back to Alec.

Alec frowns at me as I quickly put the safety back on the gun and say "I will be staying in Alec's room from now on..." Alec's eyebrows shoot up to his hairline but he doesn't say anything. He only gives me a dark grin before saying "I'll set up another bed for you."

I push off the wet bed and say "Don't bother." His smile freezes as light flashes across his dark eyes. I storm past the guys in the door and hallway as I walk into the living room. "Maya..." Chip says but I quickly stop him and say "Don't, you have your paws full right now. It's not your fault and you wouldn't be able to help. Keep doing what you're doing Chip." I give him a smile and he nods before turning back to the window.

I pull up the security system and engage the storm shutters for my room, shutting the storm out. At least it wouldn't continue to soak everything. I look up to find all the guys staring at me with concern and do my best to wave them off. "It's fine everyone, go back to sleep."

They look at each other before slowly walking off. Remi hesitates a bit and says "What if you sleep here in the living room? Alec and I both can sleep on the other couches and keep you safe." I shake my head and say "I appreciate it Remi but this is the living room. It would be uncomfortable for everyone if we sleep here."

Remi doesn't look convinced but he nods his head before going back to his room. I then begin going through the cameras and watch the moment the thing came crawling in. I'm gonna have to set up an alarm system just for these things... I look up to find Alec watching me with dark eyes.

I clear my throat and say "I was just checking the cameras... There shouldn't be anything else in the house... thank you." I watch his eyes grow softer as he says "Don't mention it. Are you really sleeping with me?" I take a deep breath "If that's okay with you?" He silently watches me before nodding.
