Silent Hacker

I drop it into another gear as I try to make it to another intersection that leads back to the highway. The black cars seem to know my intention and quickly speed up to interfere. I grit my teeth when we come up on heavier traffic.

I see multiple cops joining the one lone cop and my heart drops. "Chip, talk to me. What's going on with the police?" Chip beeps "The cop we passed called it in, they suspect street racing. Maya, I'm doing my best to keep the damage controlled but human error is uncontrollable."

"It's alright Chip, you're doing great. Just keep doing what you can." I say as I slam on my breaks to prevent running into an older lady who pulled out in front of me. I make a quick unexpected turn throwing off the cars behind me.

Two black cars can't make the turn in time and keep going as the other three make the turn. I grit my teeth as I fly past others as Chip does his best to keep up. Not only does he have to work the lights I'm currently going through but also several lights ahead as he tries to clear a path.

As I pass another intersection the other two cars are seen turning back onto the street behind us. "Maya! There's been an accident up ahead and I just overheard the cops calling in back up." I grit my teeth again as I'm left with nowhere to go.

"Also... someone is trying to attack the car's computer," Chip says as I downshift. "Block them!" I say as I jump the curb and curse while laying on the horn. People begin screaming and yelling as they jump out of the way. I gain speed when I see people making an opening.

"Chip, I need a way to get back on the highway." Chip beeps as he says "If you can get to the tunnel on the eastern side then you'll have access to the highway." I nod my head and fly past the multiple car crash.

"Chip, can you bring the police radio up on this radio?" I whip the car back onto the street and grin when I hear the police "What the hell is going on out there!?" Someone yells as another says "Captin! We're sorry... we thought it might have been street racing but it looks like it might be a chase of some kind..."

"Chase?? No federal division is in pursuit at the moment except yours so whatever's happening it's illegal!! Stop them! NOW!"

"Copy that." The police say in unison causing me to cringe. "I'm afraid they may get hurt at this rate... Hold on Chip." I floor it again when I get a clearing. I look back at the cars following closely behind and the police following behind them.

Chip keeps changing the lights to a red light but it means nothing to them as they blow through them. I see the tunnel Chip told me about and I increase my speed. I fly past the other cars in hopes of putting as much space in between us as possible. The other black cars quickly catch up.

I look to the side but all I can see are the tinted windows, pissing me off. Before I can say anything to Chip though, they roll down the window and I see a very familiar sight of a gun. "Shit!" I floor it again and move over to pass a car. The man holding the gun doesn't look phased and pulls the trigger.

"Uh... Chip? You said there would be a ramp.. to the highway..." I say with worry but when I see them pulling closer I continue to speed up. "It's a service ramp, it's closed to the public but you can use it to get onto the highway." I devious smile creeps across my face as I say "Good job Chip!"
