Three days after they gave me the Secret Service.

The Secret Service Platoon, captained by Olivia, was walking towards Fort Lamburg, which is occupied by bandits. The destination location was in the woods, which proceeded southwest of Fortress Gallia. Located about halfway between Fort Gallia and Fort Casper.

Only twenty young men follow Olivia. Considering the normal platoon size is about fifty to one hundred people, it's too small a number. Plus, just about two months after being conscripted, all the recruits.

They follow Olivia desperately as they let her breathe out. Behind Olivia was also the figure of Ashton walking with a spear instead of a cane.

The odds of a recruit surviving in the first line are said to be roughly one in three. But the first formation of the Ashtons is not that easy. That also means that this recapture operation has failed over the past few times. Because every time we do that, we get over 90% of the casualties of war.

Nonetheless, an unintelligible situation in which there is not a single veteran soldier. Probably about Olivia with decent combat experience in this platoon.

With that hit, Ashton shifts his gaze to Olivia walking forward.

(No, no, no, it can't be anything at all.)

Ashton asking how Olivia became a brigadier from Maurice, but I'm still half-hearted. I want to say what kind of joke is that you have the power to slash your neck off on that thin arm, etc. That's when I felt something caught in Ashton's brain. As soon as you go around thinking, you get to a certain fact.

(Oh, with that said, you haven't seen Maurice lately...)

What came to my mind was Maurice's light grin. I wasn't particularly close, but I'm still a fellow who receives the same instruction in training. It makes me lie when I say if I don't mind at all.

"Hey, have you seen Maurice lately?

Ashton spoke to the brunette young man who was walking next door, Gile. Gile looks depressed and opens his mouth constantly, as does his breath.

"Huh? Maurice? Speaking of which, I haven't seen him lately."

"Or gyle...... does anyone else know?

As Ashton looks back, he looks back as if Gyre was also attached. At the end of the gaze are recruits walking in the footsteps that are still going to fall. The eyes dwelt in a vain light.

"─ Those guys probably don't know. They were brought to the fortress later than we were. Isn't that hardly familiar?

So when I cut the word, Gile has stared at Ashton as being serious.

"Hey, what is it?

"No, I thought you had plenty of room to worry about others in this situation. As long as I'm really jealous."

Gile says with a smile on his shoulder. Asked, Ashton waved hastily.

"No, no, you're not! I just happened to wonder about Maurice. I'm desperate."

"Well, neither is fine. Anyway, our destiny (...) remains the same."

Recruits from the Gathering and captain of an incompetent woman. It's unclear what the hell the upper management is thinking, but Gyre's words must be shooting straight. No one will speak clearly, but you will be convinced that this recapture operation will end in failure.

And the fact that our lives will surely crush...

"─ ─ Hey, Ashton. Ashton!!

When I noticed, Olivia was peeking into her face as she swelled her cheeks. When I pull my face too close, I stare tilted at my little neck. There's no way. It's supposed to be a trick, but Ashton accidentally falls in love.

"Oh, you don't have to shout like that to hear it. Or don't shout. What will you do if a fierce beast strikes?"

Unlike the plains densely populated by human cities and villages, many beasts live in the woods and mountains. If man is the ruler of the plains, the beast is the ruler of the woods and mountains. Naturally, there are many beasts that eat and kill humans in peace.

No distinction can be made for beasts, even if they are soldiers who have cemented themselves with armor or weapons. Equally the same bait.

When I tell Olivia about it, she says flat out that she can't even do it, like, "You should just give it back and eat this one." Besides, it's a nice smile extra. I'm so hungry for that.

Ashton also forgets that his opponent is his superior officer, and hits him in the tongue with a grand slap. Disgusted, three times in a row.

"Wow! That's an imitation of a bird chirping. Sounds like fun, so I'll do it too!

"I didn't imitate the sound of a bird!

Olivia laughs at Ashton for clinging unexpectedly, holding her ass and belly. You were asking about the conversation, and there was a slight laugh from the recruits who were nearby.

"So. I'm going to have the King's Cake next time. Does Ashton know what a cake is?

"... suddenly the story flies. I know about cake. Of course I've had it. I still lived in the King's Capital."

"I've had cake before. Ashton is amazing!

(─ Could I have been made fun of earlier?

For a moment, I really thought so. but as soon as I look into Olivia's eyes, I realize it's a mistake. Because I've turned my sparkling eyes, like I've put an admirer in front of me. Any more conversations will only increase fatigue and frustration.

So enlightened Ashton ignores Olivia's gaze and moves forward as she rambles the grass on the path. Each time an inexperienced worm flew around, adding to the frustration.

Near the forest entrance there were also traces of people entering, and they didn't have as much difficulty walking. But the trees so huge that they enter the back of the woods are disturbed, and the depressed and lush grass relentlessly holds back the way they go. If you look up into the sky, the leaves overlap to cover countless growing branches, serving to block the light of an intense day. Thanks to this, comfortable temperatures were maintained in the woods.

However, whenever I hear a spooky bird squeal from time to time, I accidentally stiffen myself up. The other recruits were creepy, letting their gaze wander. Ashton takes a deep breath and brutally wipes the sweat off his forehead. Going down a roadless path was drastically shredded in strength even then.

Olivia, on the other hand, walks in light footsteps as if she were even taking a walk. From time to time I found flowers, I was happily taking them away and smoking honey. In the woods there are also many blooms, starting with the typical Fantasy Flowers, which contain toxicity to honey. Most of them are to such an extent as to cause mild paralysis, but some of them are highly toxic flowers that induce high fever and lead to death.

I guess Olivia knows about that, too. I never get my hands on toxic flowers. Ashton knows as part of his knowledge, but probably not the average person. Apparently there is no lie in the story that he lived in the woods.

(So why can Olivia walk with a cool face? You're wearing armor and swords that look so heavy)

The armor worn by the Ashtons is leather armor made by smoothing the skin of the beast. Though defensive, it falls into a relatively lightweight category in armor for that matter. Still from unarmed recruits, it doesn't make a difference heavy.

In contrast, the armor Olivia wears is plate mail. Armor with a thin braided shirt and sheet metal covering the shoulders, hands, tibia, chest, etc. Even compared to leather armor, it should be heavy enough not to be compared. Nonetheless, there was not a single sweat floating from Olivia's forehead.

"Lieutenant Olivia, may I ask you one thing?

"Hmm? Nothing."

"Isn't Brigadier Olivia tired? The... wearing armor and swords that seem heavier than ours."

"Huh? I'm not tired at all. Even the armor isn't heavy enough."

"Ha, really...... no, excuse me"

Olivia was tilting her neck like she didn't know what it meant. But I guess you didn't immediately think it mattered. I turned my gaze forward like I lost interest.

(No matter how many superiors, I'm pretty sorry I'm inferior to a girl. Well, it's definite that the bandits will kill me anyway, so it's not like I care now)

Ashton looked out at Olivia's side as she walked with pleasure, exhaling in a deep sigh.
