Chapter 48: Establishing a Clan

The gates of the Ye Family Village were silent.

Everyone stared in silent disbelief at the young man wielding the Scarlet Saber.

Blood dripped from his blade and the corpse at his feet still twitched with the throes of death. The number one expert of White Cloud Town, the sole Martial Master of the area, laid low.

From this moment forth, the powerhouse tyrant of their town was just another name in history.

Ye Tian had created a miracle, defeating Wang Xu and asserting his strength as the most powerful warrior of the region.

“Good!” A cry went out as the Ye Family experts began to stir.

Ye Shi was the first to recover as realization flashed through his eyes. He turned from the numb Wang Warriors back to his own Ye Family and cried out a thundering command, “Kill! Wang Xu is dead! The Wang Family is finished! Kill them all! Our Ye Family will unite White Cloud Town!”

Ye Shi had never dared to dream of unifying the area. This dream had always belonged to the Wang Family Village, but it was now his.

“Kill!” Ye Feng echoed, leading the charge. Without Wang Xu and Wang Tian, no one could stop the Level Ten expert.

“Kill these b*stards!”

“Kill!”

Ye Ba and Ye Meng yelled out.

The Ye Family warriors rode the tide of victory, rushing forward with soaring spirits and cutting down the enemies before them.

With Wang Tian and Wang Xu dead, Wang Hu soon fell at the hands of Ye Feng. All of the Wang Family leaders had been eliminated and the Martial Warriors fell into chaos. Expertless and disorganized, the Wang warriors couldn’t even exert half of their full strength and were soon defeated.

Ye Shi showed no mercy, moving out and slaughtering all the Wang Family warriors, leaving no survivors.

Corpses piled high like hills over the rivers of blood flowing on the grounds in front of the Ye Family Village gates.

Ye Tian wiped his Scarlet Saber clean, standing to the side and watching the massacre.

The battle had already been won; he no longer needed to act. The Wang Family Village was doomed. All of their experts and leaders were now dead and the threat of the former power was extinguished. At this point, even some of the smaller villages could destroy them.

News of the decisive victory soon spread throughout the town area and every village was shaken to their core by the earth-shaking revelation.

The Ye Family Village had taken the Wang Family’s position and surpassed their former power, and from that day forth, they became the one true master of White Cloud Town.

Ye Tian had made his name and was collectively known as the number one expert of White Cloud Town and their number one genius, the idol of every heart.

On that decisive day, Ye Tian ushered in a new era of Ye Family rule to White Cloud Town.

Later, the Ye Family experts returned to the Village Chief’s stone house, once again gathered around the familiar long table. Every face was smiling and even Ye Feng’s cool demeanor couldn’t hold back his joy.

Ye Shi sat at the head of the table looking out happily at the experts of his village. From time to time he would turn to look at Ye Tian, the smile on his face deepening. Finally, he coughed and made an order, turning towards the gathered warriors and speaking in his loud, deep voice.

“Everyone, not too long ago, Ye Feng and Ye Ba led a team to attack the Wang Family Village. They left no survivors. Today, White Cloud Town belongs to our Ye Family Village.”

The Ye Family experts all murmured happily. This was a historic moment, a flourishing peak that the Ye Family Village had never enjoyed in all of its history. They were the warriors who heralded this new era of prosperity, and their names would be written into the long history of their family. There was no higher honor.

Ye Tian sat calmly, hiding his disapproval. He hadn’t joined the conquering force, but he knew that everyone in the Wang Family Village had been slaughtered—the old, the infirm, the women, and the children.

The Ye Family Village showed no mercy. Everyone had been massacred.

Ye Tian’s experience in the Special Forces had long ago disciplined his compassion, but even so, he didn’t enjoy the thought of slaughtering the helpless.

But if the Wang Family had won the battle, they wouldn’t have showed any mercy to his village.

The land he lived in was cruel, and the only law was strength.

Ye Tian closed his eyes and took a deep breath. Whether it’s right or wrong, I must protect the village that raised and nurtured me. When his eyes opened once more, only determination remained.

“Ye Tian!”

Ye Shi called his name, stirring him from his introspection.

“En? Village Chief?” Ye Tian spoke, confusedly turning to Ye Shi.

“What are your thoughts? I was saying that our Ye Family Village should copy the Wang Family Village and prepare the foundations of a city. What do you think?” Ye Shi explained with a smile.

Everyone else waited patiently for Ye Tian’s reply. Although the young man was only sixteen, no one dared to overlook him. He was the number one expert of White Cloud Town, and his future was bright and limitless.

The truth was that the highest status in the Ye Family Village no longer belonged to Ye Shi and was now Ye Tian’s, their most powerful warrior.

If Ye Tian wanted the position of Chief, no one would refuse him.

The strong ruled. This was life on Shen Zhou Continent.

“En? Village Chief, building a city is a good idea, but we don’t need to do everything by ourselves like the Wang Family Village did. We should invite the other villages to join,” Ye Tian replied.

The truth was that he had been thinking about this for a while now. After the Wang Family Village was destroyed, there were no more threats to his home. Once all the arrangements were made, he could leave the village and head for Blood Jade City.

“Invite the other villages?” Ye Ba asked while frowning, only holding his tongue because it was Ye Tian’s suggestion.

Ye Shi and Ye Feng waited with patient interest, gesturing for Ye Tian to explain.

Ye Tian looked around at the gathered experts. “Building a city is easy, but for it to grow and prosper, Ye Family Village isn’t powerful enough. We need all the villages in White Cloud Town to work with us.”

“White Cloud Town is poor and remote. If we don’t work together, we will never be able to build a respectable city.”

Ye Tian’s words had a profound impact on the gathered experts.

He was right!

White Cloud Town was too poor. With the Ye Family Village’s population, building a city was only a matter of time. It wouldn’t be difficult at all, but once the foundation was laid, how would it grow?

It was obvious upon reflection that the Ye Family Village alone couldn’t handle this task. They didn’t have enough people, they didn’t have enough resources, and they didn’t even have the energy to finish this great endeavor on their own.

Ye Tian looked around at the thoughtful faces and continued: “In my opinion, it’s time for our Ye Family Village to form a family clan. Once the city is finished, our Ye Family will be the most powerful clan in the area while the other villages will either create their own small family clans or remain as simple citizens.”

A Family Clan!

Everyone’s spirits lifted at the thought. This was a term used by city folk and the inhabitants of such poor and remote backwaters never even dared to think of the term.

Emotions stirred.

Ye Shi’s eyes gleamed brilliantly as he happily slapped the table, calling out loudly: “Good! Let’s do it! The Ye Family Village is now the past; from now on, we will be the Ye Clan.”

“Ye Clan!”

“Ye Family Clan!”

Voice cried out in loud, happy approval, every heart filled with emotion.

“This is a good idea, but the family clans of other cities have direct descendants and branch lines. How will we organize everything?” The Martial Instruction Elder frowned, interrupting the celebration.

Everyone began to frown. They were all brothers from the same village; how could they differentiate a main branch from a side branch? Any division would destroy their unity.

Ye Shi and Ye Feng frowned, their brows furrowed as they thought about the problem.

“That’s the case for city clans; Ye Family Clan doesn’t need to copy them. The Clan Head and Clan Elders will be decided by strength, and the capable will be given positions,” Ye Tian announced.

Everyone nodded in agreement.

“Then the First Generation Clan Head must be you, Ye Tian, and this old man will take the position of elder.” Ye Shi nodded, smiling as he spoke.

“Eh… Village Chief, you misunderstand. That’s not what I meant!” Ye Tian hurriedly replied, neither intending to take nor desiring the Clan Head position.

“Haha, I know you didn’t mean that, but I’m old and ready to retire. With your power and fame, there is no one worthier of the position than you.” Ye Shi smiled sincerely, completely calm as he patted Ye Tian’s shoulders.

“But…” Ye Tian stuttered, crying inwardly. After all his planning, he had still been forcibly involved.

“Ye Tian, don’t refuse. The First Generation Clan Head must be you. No one else is suitable,” Ye Feng replied, standing and looking into Ye Tian’s eyes.

“But I’m only sixteen. Aside from cultivating, I know nothing. How would I manage the Family Clan?” Ye Tian replied, not knowing whether to laugh or cry. Of course he actually did understand, but he enjoyed cultivating. He didn’t want to waste time managing the family.

“Hehe, don’t worry. The Clan Head is just the face of our power—you don’t need to manage anything. Ye Feng, Ye Ba, and the others will help you. You only need to focus on cultivating; the more powerful you are, the more our Ye Clan will prosper,” Ye Shi replied with a laugh.

“That’s right, Ye Tian. With us here, you don’t need to worry about the small matters. Just act as you’ve planned and leave everything else to us,” Ye Ba added, patting his chest.

Ye Tian turned to Ye Meng and saw his father’s firm look of determination. The young expert finally sighed and nodded. “Okay, I’ll take the position but the business of the family will still be yours to handle.”

“Good!” Ye Shi cried, slapping the table again.

With that order of business done, the experts began selecting the different elder positions.

In the new Ye Family Clan, there would be a Clan Head and four Main Elders to lead ten ordinary elders. The named positions were: the Martial Instruction Elder, the Law Enforcement Elder, the Guard Elder, and the Great Elder.
