Chapter 43: Martial Spirit Crystal

The Ye Family Village experts were gathered around the long table in the Village Chief’s stone house.

Everyone wore a serious expression, contemplating the news Ye Ba and Ye Tian had returned with.

Ye Shi was turned towards the young man beside him. “Ye Tian, are you certain? Has the Lin Family Village truly joined hands with the Wang Family Village?”

“Yes, I heard it with my own ears.” Ye Tian nodded solemnly.

The expressions on every face darkened even more.

The peace that White Cloud Town enjoyed was sustained only by a balance of power, with the Ye Family and Lin Family Villages joined together against the Wang Family.

But if the treacherous Lin Family Village had switched sides, the balance was broken and the Ye Family Village was about to be sucked into a storm. A crisis was upon them.

Ye Shi turned to the experts, his face dark. “You all understand what this means. We must decide how best to deal with this emergency.”

“Even if they cannot prove who killed Lin Fei, the Wang Family Village won’t forget Wang Hong’s death. The Wang Family will definitely come for us and it might end in war,” Ye Feng said, his face deathly calm.

“War is inevitable. Since the Wang Family brokered an alliance with the Lin Family, they’ve already targeted us. Wang Hong’s death will only hasten the conflict. It’s good that they lost Lin Fei and Wang Hong,” the Martial Instruction Pavilion Elder said next.

Ye Shi nodded in agreement. “You’re right. Everyone knows about the Wang Family’s ambitions and I’ve always expected it to end in war sooner or later. This will become a struggle for our survival. We cannot avoid this—a fight to the death is our only option.”

“If we must fight, then we’ll go all in! We have three Level Ten experts now; even their Martial Master won’t be able to simply overwhelm us! Hmph!” Ye Ba snorted.

“Village Chief, what are your orders? How do we proceed?” Ye Meng asked.

Everyone turned back to Ye Shi.

Ye Shi stood, straightening, his gleaming eyes turning from face to face. “Good! Hear my orders: all hunters will cancel every expedition; every Martial Warrior must prepare for war. Add to our night watch and send out a scouting team to both the Wang Family and Lin Family Villages…”

A string of commands left Ye Shi’s mouth as the Ye Family experts listened attentively.

As the meeting came to an end, everyone left to tend to their duties.

Ye Tian left all the Hunter Team matters to Ye Ba and Ye Meng as he headed to the Martial Instruction Pavilion to investigate the green crystal that he had absorbed.

Ye Tian hadn’t been given any special mission—his only task was to cultivate and save his strength for the conflict ahead.

Martial Instruction Pavilion.

“Ye Tian, this is what you asked for,” the Martial Instruction Elder said, placing a pile of beast skin scrolls on a table, examining Ye Tian with confusion as he continued: “What are you looking for?”

“Hehe, I’m just doing some casual reading!” Ye Tian chuckled in reply, immediately picking up a scroll and beginning to read.

The Martial Instruction Elder could only shrug his shoulders and leave Ye Tian to his task, sitting to the side and meditating.

Ye Tian read carefully, combing the scrolls for any information about the green crystal. He read from afternoon through nightfall, and he quickly made his way through the majority of the scrolls.

This brat—not even going home for dinner! The Martial Instruction Elder thought, shaking his head at Ye Tian before leaving the young expert alone in the pavilion.

He knew that Ye Tian didn’t like to be disturbed while he read, and it was clear that the young man was planning on finishing every scroll before leaving.

Time passed in a blur as Ye Tian read, and his eyes finally widened in excitement as he stumbled upon what he had been looking for.

Martial Spirit Crystal… this is it! Ye Tian thought excitedly, gripping the scroll carefully.

The beast skin scroll detailed a rumor about geniuses with Martial Spirits that were Green Grade and higher. When these talents passed away, their Martial Spirits wouldn’t disappear after three days but instead, condense down into a fist-sized crystal known as the Martial Spirit Crystal.

Martial Spirit Crystals contained Martial Spirit Power and were a treasure that attracted Spiritual Qi and helped improve cultivation speed. The higher the Martial Spirit Crystal grade, the higher the value.

But these crystals were incredibly rare; after all, such high grade Martial Spirits were naturally rare.

So, every Martial Spirit Crystal was a priceless treasure and their value couldn’t be measured with money.

To think that such a treasure exists? If I can find enough Martial Spirit Crystals, I can rapidly upgrade my Martial Spirit? Ye Tian wondered excitedly, ambition growing in his heart even though he knew these treasures could only be found through luck.

I must try my luck in Blood Jade City!

Ye Tian put down the scroll and finally looked out at the dark night, quickly organizing everything and leaving the pavilion.

When he arrived back home, Ye Tian quickly finished his dinner and returned to his room to cultivate.

With his newly minted Green Martial Spirit, his cultivation rate was ten times faster than before and Ye Tian couldn’t help his emotions from growing as he felt the thick, dense Spiritual Qi flooding into his body.

At this rate, I’ll break through to Level Ten within a month, Ye Tian estimated.

He had just broken through to Level Nine Martial Artist, and with his old Yellow Grade Martial Spirit, he would’ve needed most of a year.

But now, with the upgrade, that time had shrunk down to less than a month.

The shocking might of Ye Tian’s cultivation only grew more and more terrifying.

If Red was ordinary and Orange above average, then Yellow was genius.

As for Green? Not a single native of Blood Jade City had such tremendous talent.

Anything Green Grade or higher could only be found in larger cities or sects.

Wang Family Village.

Wang Xu looked down at the headless corpse, his face terrifyingly dark.

The gathered experts all looked on with heavy expressions.

Wang Hong’s death was a huge blow. She had been a genius on the brink of Level Ten Martial Artist with the hopes of someday breaking through to Martial Master.

Although the people of the village were uncomfortable around Wang Hong, they needed her power. The more experts the village had, the greater their collective strength.

But today, a genius and future hope of the Wang Family Village had died a miserable death.

“Village Chief, we must take revenge!” someone spat through gritted teeth.

“Massacre the Ye Family Village!” another person roared angrily.

“Yes! Slaughter them!” Many voices furiously echoed.

Every face was filled with anger, even the villagers who disliked Wang Hong and those who had hated her.

“Village Chief!” Wang Tian called out, turning a questioning gaze towards Wang Xu, his face filled with a calm befitting his status.

The Martial Master finally stood, quiet falling in his wake as every eye turned towards him.

“Since they’ve challenged us, how could we not respond?” Wang Xu snorted.

“Hmph!”

Cold, ghastly smiles crossed the faces of the Wang experts as their eyes began to gleam with a murderous intent.

“Hear my commands. The Martial Warriors of the Wang Family Village are to prepare for war,” Wang Xu called out loudly.

“Yes!”

“Yes!”

Every voice called back.

“Wang Tian, take the Hunter Team and destroy the Lin Family Village. We will follow with every warrior to defeat the Ye Family Village next. Without them, nothing can stand in our way as we unite White Cloud Town,” Wang Xu continued.

The crowd of experts was stunned.

Wang Tian frowned, confusedly asking, “Village Chief, we’ve allied with the Lin Family—why are we attacking them?” The fight would be hard and thankless and would weaken their strength.

“I heard back from Wang Hu. That old sneak, Lin Xiong, refuses to trust us and won’t help us against the Ye Family Village.”

“Hmph! The Ye Family Village has a new Level Ten in Ye Feng now. When we begin fighting, even if we destroy them, we will suffer losses. When that time comes, if the Lin Family allies with the small villages, they might threaten us. We must kill them before then,” Wang Xu explained, snorting.

Wang Tian nodded his understanding. “Yes! The small villages don’t have Level Ten experts and alone, they will never unite and become a threat. The Lin Family Village is the only village that could bring them together against us.”

“With Wang Hu in the Lin Family Village, he can be our inside man. We will destroy them from inside out before turning to the Ye Family.” Wang Xu smiled coldly.

“Village Chief is wise!” the Wang Family experts exclaimed.

Later that day, Wang Tian led the Wang Family hunters out for a night attack on the Lin Family Village.

Wang Hu snuck out with his Wang Family entourage, avoiding the night patrol and quietly dispatching the gate guards before opening the way.

The cruel massacre began as rivers of blood flowed through the Lin Village.

Wang Tian dueled Village Chief Lin Xiong while Wang Hu and the other experts ran rampant.

“Wang Tian! You traitor! I will hunt you even in death!” Lin Xiong roared with miserable fury, his eyes filled with remorse. He hated himself for listening to Lin Fei’s advice and colluding with the Wang Family.

He’d climbed atop the tiger, courting death!
