Chapter 35: The Wang Village’s Ambition

At night, the Ye Family Village’s square was filled with a series of low grunts and the sound of a saber cutting through air.

Beneath the starry sky, a young man practiced his martial skills in the empty square.

Ye Tian was focused on comprehending Saber Intent and practicing by himself in the square had become a habit. The villagers had quickly discovered his practice, so very few people came to the square at night, not wishing to disturb him.

All my saber forms are for killing and I have many years of experience from my life as a Special Forces Soldier. My saber is already filled with killing intent—perhaps this is why I could comprehend Saber Intent! Ye Tian thought.

In studying Saber Intent, one needed to understand the origin of their own unique form of intent. Saber Sage Feng Wudi had comprehended Obliteration Saber Intent and Ye Tian had comprehended the Slaughter Saber Intent!

Slaughter Saber Intent. This was Ye Tian’s reward after all his days of hard, diligent practice.

With a slash of his blade, a thick murderous intent flashed forward, an almost conscious aura that flew from the saber and sought out enemies to kill.

“Heh!” Ye Tian laughed, turning the saber as he slashed out, the forceful strike cutting the air as a formless Slaughter Intent shot forward, piercing into the ground.

“En?”

Ye Tian’s ears twitched and he instantly grew alert, but then he relaxed and turned, bowing. “Uncle Feng, hello.”

As he spoke, footsteps echoed out of the dark night as Ye Feng walked forward, appearing in front of him.

“Ye Tian, your strength continues to grow. You spotted me from that far away, even when I was concealing my Qi,” Ye Feng replied, his eyes filled with admiration and surprise.

Ye Tian smiled calmly, sticking his Scarlet Saber in the ground before replying: “I sensed Uncle Feng’s Qi; this familiar Qi has accompanied me since my youth—how could I not recognize it?”

“My Qi? You can identify my Qi?” Ye Feng asked with surprise.

“En, I realized recently that everyone has a different Qi.” Ye Tian nodded. After studying Saber Intent for so many days, Ye Tian’s spiritual sense had advanced by leaps and bounds, and at this point he could already distinguish people by their Qi.

Ye Feng sighed in amazement; the boy’s talent was immeasurable! Perhaps the heavens had wished for the Ye Family Village to thrive in this generation so they had granted them this genius child.

After his moment of admiration, Ye Feng’s smile grew as he turned back to Ye Tian. “Ye Tian, how has your comprehension of Saber Intent progressed? I heard Ye Ba say that you took down the Purple Cloud Cheetah.”

The news of Ye Tian’s catch had already spread through the village. Ye Shi, Ye Feng, and the other elders were deeply excited; they all knew that the powerful Purple Cloud Cheetah was almost equivalent to a Level Ten Martial Artist.

And so Ye Tian was capable of killing Level Ten Martial Artists.

“En, I was barely able to do it; my understanding of Saber Intent is still lacking,” Ye Tian modestly replied.

Ye Feng paused before sighing again. “Our Ye Family Village is wasting your talent. With your gifts, if you had been born in those large sects, you would’ve have long passed into the Martial Master realm.”

“Uncle Feng, even in the Ye Family Village, I can still become Martial Master.” Ye Tian shook his head, his face filled with confidence.

Ye Feng examined the confident young man before him and sighed lightly once more, finally saying: “Ye Tian, when you return from the Wang Family Village, you should head to Blood Jade City. You’re more than qualified to join the Scarlet Guard, and I think it’s only there that you will be able to grow.”

Ye Tian paused in surprise. The Blood Jade City and the Scarlet Guard had been his dream for quite some time and he was eager to head over.

But when he thought about his village, Ye Tian shook his head, replying: “Uncle Feng, the time hasn’t come. The Ye Family Village still needs me—how could I leave?”

Ye Tian wasn’t a selfish man and even if he could achieve his dream, he couldn’t abandon his home.

Ye Feng smiled with satisfaction, happy in his judgment of Ye Tian’s character. He put his hand on the young man’s shoulders, a strong and powerful wave of Qi flooding forward and surprising Ye Tian.

“Uncle Feng, you… you broke through!” Ye Tian’s eyes fell open as he stared in disbelief at Ye Feng; he had only ever felt such a powerful Qi from the Village Chief.

Then Ye Feng had broken through to Level Ten Martial Artist?

“That’s right, I broke through. After the life and death struggle with the wolf pack, I sensed myself making progress on my bottleneck, and today I finally broke through to Level Ten Martial Artist,” Ye Feng explained as he smiled.

Even though he lost an arm, he had received a blessing from that tragedy, breaking through to Level Ten Martial Artist. His strength had only grown from his misfortune, and he was now the second Level Ten Martial Artist of the Ye Family Village.

“Congratulations, Uncle Feng!” Ye Tian said excitedly, sincerely happy for Ye Feng’s achievement. The pillar of their village had finally been rewarded.

“You can leave the Ye Family Village without worry. With the Village Chief and I here, the village will be fine.”

Ye Feng met Ye Tian’s eyes as he said solemnly: “Go to Blood Jade City. That is your world. You must grow strong quickly, and only then can you take our village away from this poor land.”

“En!”

Ye Tian nodded quietly, accepting the obligation of Ye Feng’s trust.

Blood Jade City, Ye Tian is coming for you!

Three days passed in the blink of an eye, and on August Eighth, all the villagers gathered around the village gate to send Ye Tian and Ye Ba off.

Ye Ba rode a large black stallion, cutting a powerful and mighty figure, but he couldn’t compare to Ye Tian.

For Ye Tian rode a giant white tiger, looming high above even the stallion. The tiger’s large, terrifying eyes looked down in disdain at the black horse.

“Ye Tian, this white tiger of yours is incredible. I have no idea where you found it,” Ye Ba said with some envy as he admired Ye Tian’s mount.

This ride was incredibly cool, sure to be the center of attention no matter where they went.

At first, everyone had just assumed Ye Tian’s pet was a small white cat, but as it grew, the villagers only grew progressively more amazed. This was no white cat; it was a huge tiger!

“Hehe!”

Ye Tian smiled at Ye Ba’s words, not explaining what he had never explained.

The two bid their farewells to the Village Chief and the others.

“Ye Tian, the Wang Family Village will definitely try to cause trouble, but just let Ye Ba deal with everything. You’re only going to gain experience so don’t show your strength. You cannot let them see your true power,” Ye Shi said once again, serious beyond compare.

Ye Tian nodded carefully and replied: “Village Chief, I understand, I’m not that stupid.”

“Hehe!” Ye Shi laughed, patting Ye Tian’s face as he said, “View this trip as practice. Ye Ba will show you how to conduct yourself, and after you leave this village, you won’t be taken advantage of.”

Ye Shi didn’t know that Ye Tian had experience from his previous life. He still saw Ye Tian as a young and inexperienced boy leaving his village for his first time, and he good-heartedly desired to teach all he could, acting with great thought and care.

Ye Tian obviously understood Ye Shi’s intentions, and although he didn’t think it was truly necessary, he was still deeply appreciative so he nodded and replied: “Village Chief, rest assured—I won’t disappoint you.”

Ye Shi nodded, comforted, letting Ye Tian and Ye Ba leave. He was filled with mixed emotions, anxious about Ye Tian’s safety but also a worried about his future if Ye Tian didn’t learn about the world.

Little White and the black stallion ran quickly, and soon, Ye Tian and Ye Ba disappeared from view.

White Cloud Town wasn’t small, but the best land was all occupied by the Wang Family Village so even the powerful Ye Family and Lin Family villages could only scrape by in the backwaters.

So, while the Lin Family Village was very close to the Ye Family Village, the Wang Family home was much farther away, taking around six to eight hours even on horseback.

After their early morning departure, Ye Ba and Ye Tian never stopped, finally reaching the Wang Family Village before noon.

The clay walls of the village soared high, triple the height of an adult. It was simple and crude but quite impressive nonetheless, far mightier than the Ye Family or Lin Family village walls.

Before Ye Tian also stood a simple city gate, something that was clearly a level higher than the village gates he had seen even if it was still made of wood.

“Ye Tian, do you see their ambition? They’ve built their village like a city so that if they unify the town, they will already have a city prepared that belongs to their Wang Family.”

Ye Tian and Ye Ba entered the gates, and Ye Tian examined the shops around him as Ye Ba explained what he knew.

The insides of the village were also neatly ordered with streets built that seemed to approximate those of a city.

The Wang Family Village’s ambition was enormous, and it seemed like they wanted to build a city that matched the Blood Jade City.

“Eh! Who’s that young man? What a huge tiger!”

“That white tiger is so cool!”

“That’s Ye Ba from the Ye Family Village, but who’s that brat who’s here instead of Ye Feng?!”

Ye Tian was too conspicuous, and everyone in the village immediately turned to examine them as they passed through the streets.

The awesome white tiger was everyone’s focus wherever they went.

Some of the young men were even staring at Little White with burning eyes.

“Ye Ba, I didn’t think you’d be leading your village’s procession this time—is this child your son?” A loud voice called out as a familiar figure pushed his way through the crowd.

Black Face Mad Tiger!

Ye Tian turned to look at the expert, already recognizing the voice. Even seeing him from a distance had left a deep impression.

Black Face Mad Tiger walked over slowly, his dark face tough as his pair of intimidating dark eyes examined Ye Tian.

But Black Face Mad Tiger wasted all his efforts for Ye Tian had already restrained his Qi and was indecipherable to someone of Black Tiger’s cultivation.

“Wang Hu, this is my nephew. I’ve brought him here to gain some experience.”

Ye Ba replied, pulling Black Face Mad Tiger’s intimidating glare towards him.
