Chapter 6:CHAPTER SIX

All these reminiscing made Euri miss her family, "Is there any news about my family yet?"

"Not yet… I figured we could visit our old highschool and ask your brother." Deric said.

Euri jumped in delight, "Okay… let's go!"

Deric calmed her down, "We'll have to go two weeks from now though."

"Eh? Why?" Euri whined.

Deric smiled as he grabbed Euri, "… because, I want you to run away with me…"

Euri was only shocked for a moment, "Alright. Where do you want to go?"

"Hawaii." Deric answered simply.

Deric wasted no time and took care of everything. The tickets, accommodation... and he even took his private plane.

Euri observed everything as she voiced her amazement, "Whoa! Mr. CEO… I knew you were rich... but I never really knew KNEW, you know!?"

Deric looked at her cockily, "Come on. You watched me drove a Ferrari back in highschool. You even live in my mansion now."

Euri clicked her tongue at his attitude, "Tsk. Back in highschool, it was still your parent's money… but I guess, it's yours now, Mr. CEO."

The sun shone brightly up the blue sky. The clear seas... the sound of waves... beautiful Hawaii. It was exactly the same as in the picture Euri saw.

They settled in Deric's private villa. Euri immediately requested for Hawaiian food, before going swimming in the beach. That night, they also watched performances such as fire dances and the hula.

The two weeks went by so fast.

Euri was strolling along the shore, when she noticed Deric in the distance. He was yelling on the phone, "I wont do it! If you force me anymore than this, then I'm not coming back!!"

Euri came up to him as soon as he hung up, "Deric, is everything alright?"

Deric's expression softened when he saw Euri's worry, "Don't worry about it."

Euri was not convinced as she shook his arm, "Tell me! I want to know."

Deric sighed, "My parents wanted me to get married... They've arranged for me to meet a politician's daughter."

Deric looked at her straight in the eyes, "That's because it was you… How could I ever get married? In this life, there is only one person I want to marry."

Euri mustered the courage to look back at him, "…who?"

Deric smiled and pressed his finger against his lips, "…that's a secret."

"Whatever." Euri was annoyed. She turned and briskly walked away.

Deric laughed and shook his head at her. He ran after her to match her pace.

Euri scrunched her eyebrows, "So you brought me here to run away from your arranged marriage? Aren't I like a kept woman?"

Deric held Euri's hand, "You came with me because I asked you to. You stayed with me because I wanted you to... and you also agreed. I'm not keeping you… We're just… together."

Euri calmed down when she heard him, "…but why Hawaii?"

Deric tightened his hold around her hand, "because I promised you…"

--------------FLASHBACK----------------

It was after school, Deric and Euri remained inside the classroom. Deric was stapling worksheets, while Euri was reading a magazine.

Euri stopped flipping the pages, "It'll be winter vacation soon, then here comes the second semester and finally, we'll graduate from highschool. What do you think about that?"

Deric continued with his work without sparing her a glance, "I think… that instead of that magazine, why don't you help me instead?"

Euri suddenly stood up and covered his view with the magazine, "I want to go to Hawaii. Let's go to Hawaii!"

"Huh!?" Deric said a little loudly.

Euri pushed the magazine even closer to his face, "For our graduation trip… Let's run away together to Hawaii."

Deric pulled away, "You're so random, Euri. What are we even running away from? Do you even have money?"

Euri crossed her arms, "I'll start working part-time tomorrow."

Deric raised his eyebrows, "Where?"

"I don't know yet, but I will. So you must go to Hawaii with me. Promise! Promise me. Please…" Euri put their pinkies together.

"Alright… I'll work part time with you as well. Let's go to Hawaii." Deric could only sigh once again at Euri's antics.

------------FLASHBACK END-------------

Euri was flabbergasted, "Everytime I hear stories about me from you, it makes me feel like it was not me. You remember me so badly. You always have fun memories of me, but I could remember mostly about you are the bad things."

"It's not all good things, but I wanted to remember you as that bright, eccentric and noisy girl. I want you to remember yourself as such as well." Deric laughed good-heartedly.

Euri shook her head sarcastically, "…All I could get from this... is that Euri Simmons was an annoying girl."

"Hahaha isn't that your charm? Being annoying." Deric teased.

Euri frowned and shouted, "I'm not talking to you anymore!"

They took Deric's private plane back. When they came back, they only took a few days rest.

Days later, after school ended, they visited their old high school.

Deric brought Euri to their old classroom, "This was my seat… and that, was yours."

Deric sat by the window, while Euri sat near the blackboard.

"You had the main character's seat, huh." Euri joked as she sat.

They imagined they were back in highschool. Listening to the teacher… or doing their own thing. The bell would rang during lunch. The students would laugh and run on the hallways. Teachers would usually scold them. Outside the window, you could see the field. Some boys would sometimes play soccer there.

Euri looked back at Deric, "I can't really see you during class because I sit at the front… I'm such a nerd."

Deric leaned back and put his legs up the desk, "Well… from where I'm seated, you can't really tell if I'm looking at the blackboard… or at something else."

Euri turned her back at him, "Playboy."

"Excuse me? How am I a playboy? I've been single my whole life." Deric defended himself.

Euri snorted, "A playboy… And a liar."

Deric stood up, "I'm so offended right now. You…"

The door suddenly opened and a young man with glasses entered the room. He looks like the male version of Euri, except that his eyes were sharper, his nose was higher and his jaw was manly and more defined.

Euri immediately recognized Eun, "Eun!!"

Eun smiled, "It's been a while. Are you visiting your old classroom?"

Deric shook hands with Eun, "Long time no see. How have you been? Look at you, you're a teacher now."

Eun laughed shyly and scratched his head, "Hahaha yeah… well, it is my sister's dream."

Euri tried to ruffle Eun's hair, "Eun you're taller than me now. You look more mature as well… and you now wear glasses? You look so different from my memory."

Deric shrugged his shoulders, "Time is every youth's enemy... Anything new? A wife, maybe?"

"A girlfriend. I'm still not sure about marriage… How about you? Are you considering marriage?" Happiness visible in Eun's face.

It was Deric's turn to be embarrassed, "Ah… I…"

Euri knew about Deric's situation, so she tried to save him, "Enough about that Eun. Look at me! I've lost my memory. Should I give up the possibility of marriage now!?"

"My sister…" Eun looked apologetic.

The atmosphere became a little tense. Deric clapped his hands, "Oh yeah! What about your parents? Are they doing alright?"

Eun sighed, "Those old folks missed you. Why don't you visit them sometimes? Give me your email, I'll send you their address. They're staying in the province currently."

Deric handed his phone, "That's good. I wasn't able to get a hold of them since they move around a lot."

"Staying in one place… makes them a little sad. They're old anyways, let them enjoy life." Eun said.

Deric agreed, "Hahahaha of course."

"Well, I'll be going ahead, I still have to prepare for the coming exams." Eun gave back Deric's phone and prepared to leave.

Deric understood how busy Eun was, "It's already that time of the year, huh… I'll see you around."

"We came all the way here, but he is too busy. And you kept talking over me. You are hogging all of Eun's attention. Hmmp!" Euri stomped her feet.

"… sorry…" Deric murmured audibly as he pat Euri's head.

Eun stopped at the door but did not turn back, "Frederic… Everyone had already let go… maybe it's time for you to forget as well…"

Deric perked up. He continued to pat Euri's head, looking a little uncomfortable, "Thank you, Eun… but I think I'm going to hold on a little while longer."

"What's that about?" Euri was confused with their conversation.

Deric pressed his finger against his lips, "A secret…" He smiled and changed the subject "Anyway, we finally have your parent's address. When do you wanna go?"

Euri, however, did not let him do so, "Eun is keeping a secret from me now!? That brat!"

"Come on. Eun is a grown up now." Deric defended Eun.

Euri flinched at his words, "…I'm just a little scared…"

Deric wasn't sure why Euri was scared, but he still did his best to ease her feelings, "Don't be scared… What do you think of the day after tomorrow?"

"…sure…" Euri whispered.

When they exited the campus, the sun was almost down.

Euri remembered what Deric told her before, so she pointed at the setting sun, "Sunset!! Let's run!"

Deric was amazed how fast her moods change, "You want to run... towards there?"

Euri quickly nodded her head then she pulled Deric's arm, "Yeah! I want to see the bus stop that you told me before, where we first talked."
