Rise In Calradia

Chapter 4: : Looking for the robber's lair

"John, how about it, did you find them?"

In the wilderness of Paravin, seeing the appearance of his hired sentry, Byron hurried over and asked.

"It's a pity, sir. These robbers ran away when they saw us. Obviously they didn't want to fight us." John shook his head, saying that he hadn't gained anything. And those nervous recruits also breathed a sigh of relief, secretly happy in their hearts.

"It's a waste of time to find this way. We have to find a way."

Byron frowned and looked at the surroundings, but he was also anxious. There are plains on all sides, and they and the robbers are easy to observe each other's actions. People in the forest did not dare to enter, for fear of being in an ambush. But if they come to the plains, they are not stupid. Three or two robbers will not provoke five armed mercenaries (Byron defines himself this way).

Byron thought for a while, thinking about whether to bite the bullet and use himself as a bait to attract the robbers. However, this is not easy. If you fail to keep up, the robbers will be ruthless, or you will lose your life.

But just when Byron was about to make up his mind, John suddenly tugged him. And when he raised his head, he saw a few people on horseback chasing two robbers they had also met this morning.

"It's a bounty hunter! I saw them in the tavern. Quickly, catch them alive before they get rid of those robbers!"

Seeing this, Byron rushed over immediately, but John was taken aback. Byron's first impression was that these bounty hunters were as neutral as in the game, but John didn't dare to think so. The bounty hunter is also a slave trader, although it is generally a neutral force and only deals with robbers. But it is not ruled out that some of them use small-scale mercenaries and travelers to blackmail the ransom.

Several people rushed over, but when it was time, these bounty hunters had already defeated the two robbers with a blunt weapon. Byron's appearance instead dropped them. Fortunately, the opponents are all light cavalry, and they don't want to fight against them.

"These are our captives, why should we give them to you?" the man in the lead immediately asked condescendingly.

"For the sake of this, we just asked a few words."

Byron shook the silver coin in his hand, and the other party's attitude became more gentle.

"Excuse me, sir, but please hurry up."

The bounty hunter took the silver coin, nodded, let go of a way for Byron to go to interrogate the two bandits.

"Where is the nest of blood ears? Tell us, don't force me to kick the thing in the middle of your crotch." Byron asked with a fierce face he thought.

"For the sake of those gods I don’t know, my lord, please don’t do this. The blood-eared nest is in a forest east of Palavin. I don’t know exactly where, but they are in the woods. Set up tents and houses."

The robber immediately clamped his legs when he heard the threat and recruited.

"He should be right, probably in that area, but no one wants to go there."

The head of the bounty hunter also made a sentence, and then used a riding whip to whip several prisoners in the team, urging them to go on the road.

"Sir, obviously we don’t have enough manpower. Perhaps those bandits’ weapons and armors are not stronger than ours, but our numbers are at a disadvantage and we still fight in the forest. We only have one life, sir. Of course, I’m not afraid, but more insurance is definitely not. bad thing."

After the bounty hunter walked away, the big John leaned over and said to Byron very cautiously.

"Indeed, we have to go back to Paravin and find some help."

Byron touched the wallet and secret compartment in his arms, and it was a bit painful. However, he felt that this golden finger would probably not make his dead self alive, so he didn't dare to risk his life just to save money. From the perspective of combat effectiveness, in addition to a hunting crossbow, he is no better than a hired sentry like John in terms of equipment and strength.

Although the speed slowed down due to the increase in the number of people, Byron and others returned to Palavin before dark and returned to the tavern where they had stayed before.

Coincidentally, they met the previous businessman, the one who did not want to reveal his name.

"Very well, now you know where the robbers are, and there are still manpower. Then you can get paid if you find them and cut off their heads."

Hearing the news from Byron, a smile appeared on the businessman's face. With a gesture, the big man next to him immediately took out a bottle of wine from his bag and poured a glass for each of them. It can be seen that in order to prevent similar things from happening, he took several bodyguards.

Byron took the glass, but just held it up, and didn't mean to drink it.

"Our manpower is still not enough, UU reading www.uukanshu.com I have to find some help, do you have any suggestions?" Byron asked, staring into the businessman's eyes.

"I know what you need, young man."

The businessman smiled, took a pocket from his arms and handed it to him.

"Here is 100 dinars. It is paid to you in advance. This price can make many retired veterans fight for their lives. If you can't find soldiers, you can also hire free people in the city. They are all Haraus. The king’s captains went out during the war, and their families bought weapons and armors. But be careful, if they die inexplicably, the judge and tax officer will count his share on your head."

"You are so generous, sir, let the head waiting for the blood ears be placed here. Where can I find you when the matter is over?"

Byron breathed a sigh of relief and put away the gold coin. One hundred dinars can do a lot of things, and from the strange and generous behavior of this businessman, if he runs away with money, then the next reward is probably his head.

"It is still this tavern. If you want to seize the opportunity to make money, you must gather more information. This is a very good place. I will be here these days and wait for your good news. To the brave adventurers."

"Respect to the ostentatious Paravin merchant."

The two smiled at each other and drank their glass of wine.

Like the merchant said, a small bag of silver coins can attract many mercenaries who are profiteering. After John's introduction, five free sentinels and a crossbowman joined them, a one-time contract, paid 50 dinars, no loot after victory.

Counting Byron himself, his team already has eleven people, and half of them are good players who have experienced a lot of battles. Even the cruel and cunning robbers, Byron is confident to defeat them.
