Reincarnation of the Cheater

Chapter 24:Report to the Guild Master

As we walk into the guild the noise we could hear from outside becomes, even louder as the door opens. The adventurers laughing while drinking ale. I guess that's just how people who are free from any responsibilities act. Looking through all of the adventurer's tables as we walk towards the counter I noticed that there are a lot of people who have a medium kind of level, the average seems to be around 50, but the one weird thing is a table in the corner that has been giving me a weird look as if they are scanning me. After appraising them they are a pretty high level for the area we are in, the lowest of the group is 63 and the highest is 72. Probably a party, I wonder what they hunt, there aren't any high leveled monsters around here that I'm aware of. As I look over the adventurer party Silvia turns back around after speaking to the receptionist.

"I reported your completion of the quest to the receptionists for now. I got the okay to head up to the guild master's room so follow me." she says as she leads up up the stairs.

Heading up the stairs I feel anxious. Every time I meet this guild master of ours I get a bad feeling as if he is looking at me as his prey. I think I want to head towards the capital, I heard some rumors that a new dungeon appeared near the capital so it is kind of enticing me. Looking at the door of the guild master's room I get an intense rush of anxiety and Silvia knocks on the door.

"Sir, it's Silvia. I brought the adventurers from the rank up test, we ran into something unexpected so we're here to report what happened." Silvia says in the most respectful voice she can make.

It seems to me that she doesn't like him that much.

"Come in." says the guild master's voice.

As the door opens the guild master comes into our view. He changed since we last meet a couple of days ago. Now that I see him, he is giving me an even more intense anxious feeling. What is it that is making me feel like this?

'His stats increased some without leveling huh.' As I look at his status he stars to talk.

"Take a seat, don't mind the papers I just got back this morning from my training. As you can see I got some unexpected results." He says as he looks at me with a smile.

'I really don't like him.' I say in my head as I give him a guilty smile.

"We've come to report an unexpected result in the rank up quest." Silvia says.

"Ohh, I'll take a verbal report from all of you. So, what happened." He says as he looks at me as if he expected this whole situation.

"The regular exam when well and they all passed. The problem was after the Thief Boss was defeated he used an orb with the same color as the night sky. Upon the orb absorbing into his body he mutated into something else entirely. His body took the same color as the orb and enlarged. His battle prowess increased and we couldn't handle him at all. I could barely keep up with him but I would only be able to hold him off if we wanted to escape. The accounts are all the same for all of us except Bell and Edward." Silvia says giving the report she thought of while we were walking here.

"I see, I understand the situation. You can all leave then, I will have one of the receptionists write up the written report for the files. Bell, Silvia, and Edward please stay behind." He says as he let the other leave.

As the others are leaving I make eye contact with Rose and try to telepathically tell her to help me, but upon seeing my concentrated gaze she just smiled sweetly and left swiftly as I succumb to the impending sense of doom my anxiety is giving me. After the door shuts Edward, Silvia, and I are still sitting in the chairs and the guild master finishes the paperwork in front of him.

"Well after he was defeated he took out a dark orb and it was absorbed into his body. Upon absorbing it his body changed into a darker and stronger version. None of us could handle him until Bell here saved us with a skill that borrows strength, with that he had an easy time playing around with that thing since it couldn't do anything to him. Bell defeated it and at the same time went unconscious after using the skill. When the thief boss's body was touched it disintegrated and the only thing left was a gem with the same color as the orb." Edward says as he explains his view on what had happened.

After the guild master listened thoroughly and had his statement written down he let Edward go and it was only me and Silvia in the room now.

"Is it fine if she knows or is it a secret?" he asks in consideration of me wanting to keep my skills a secret.

"She knows already, it isn't that important to me either." I answer decisively. I told them so they would think that was my only unique skill though.

"Alright then do you mind explaining why you became unconscious and how your skill works." he says while looking me in the eyes.

"It was the rebound of the skill that made me go unconscious, if I take too much strength I obviously can't handle then the rebound is equally as large. I can borrow strength from anything living." I answer while leaving out somethings.

He takes my answer as he deemed it the truth and looks towards Silvia.

"I have almost everything in order is there anything else you wish to report." he asks.

"Yes, the gem was absorbed into Bells' body upon contact with him, afterward his body grew more masculine, taller, and his presence changed from a naive rookie adventurer to the feeling of someone trained and noble." She answers like she was reading off of a script.

"Alright, you can go then. Keep up the good work, the rookies will have their new ranks processed by tomorrow." he says seeing her unenthusiastic answer. As Silvia takes her to leave he turns to look at me. "What happened with the gem?"

"It was apparently a demon race amplifier, it increased their racial percentage at random." I answer.

He has a serious look on his face as he asks, "Are you a demon then?"

"No, I purified it so the demonification was changed into just a racial increase."

"And what makes you think you could do that without permission?" he says.

"I am the only one able to use it due to my class if another person used it they would become a demon without a doubt." I answer trying to conceal my celestial lineage.

"Alright then go ahead and take your leave. Work hard now that your a D Ranked Adventurer okay?" he answers as he takes another stack of papers off the desk and starts working on them.

'Should I try a restaurant or something? I haven't really explored this city at all.' As I take my leave I think about what to do for dinner and decide to go and shop around town for the first time.
