Reincarnation of the Cheater

Looking around me everything in my view is drastically different than when I went to sleep yesterday. It seems like an old-western look, kind of like the old west you see in cowboy movies. Horses running in the distance as the sound of hooves stomping the floor comes from every direction, Wind blowing against the trees as a slow whistle protrudes throughout the night sky.

"Where am I? I'm pretty sure I fell asleep at the inn yesterday." I say worriedly.

Looking over the rocks off to the distance one has faint glow hiding behind it.

"Is that a light behind that rock?" I say walking towards the rock. As I'm approaching the rock I look over it only to see a woman turn to look at me with a curious gaze while emitting white light from her body.

"You Hero's really do grow faster each time I see you... Although you are a bit different than the last one." she says as she turns towards me and the white light gets brighter.

I try to talk and ask her about what she said but my mouth won't open and a heavy pressure falls down on me.

"You aren't ready yet, go back and the next time you are able to come here should be enough." she says as she waves her hand and as a wave of white light envelopes me, I fall back into a deep sleep.

Waking up to the sound of heavy pounding, I put on my clothes apply 'clean' to myself and walk over to open the door.

"What that really just a dream? The only thing I remember is a woman emitting light saying I'm not ready yet, but if that is the case then why am I still shivering as if I'm scared of something."

"Can I help you?" I say still tired looking at the floor not really interested in who it is.

"We don't see each other for a couple of days and you act like you don't even know me huh. Get up, you're late for your rank up exam." says the familiar voice as I look up.

"Finn, I was set up I swear." I said nervously as he has a very serious look on his face.

"Who would set you up huh, you think I would fall for an obvious lie like that." he says with doubt.

"The guild-master only told me it was going to be today he didn't mention a time or a place to meet at." I say avoiding eye contact feeling guilty, people wouldn't normally believe what I said.

"Yeah sure, Get ready and let's go. There are other people ranking up as well so don't make them wait." he says with an agitated face as I walk out of the room and close the door behind me.

"Let's go I'm ready."

"Don't you need your gear?" he asks surprised.

"I have all the stuff I need in an item bag, let's head out after some breakfast."

"Why is Finn so slow." said the ordinary-looking brown-haired female.

'I sent him to go get the rookie that the guild-master recommended, it should only be down the street why is he taking so long. The other adventurers here for the exam are all getting impatient.'

"Why do we have to wait for someone who is half an hour late?" as if he can read her thoughts one adventurer says with dissatisfaction all over his face causing all other adventurer's to have a look of dissatisfaction as well leaving only one who seemed to have been in this situation before sat in a corner of the group with his eyes closed and a solemn expression meditating. As they continue complaining the doors to the guild's meeting room open and everyone's eyes were drawn to the two people walking inside.

"You're finally here." said the female examiner as she released a sigh of relief since she didn't have to hear any more whining.

"You're finally here."

"Haha, sorry about that it seems the guild-master didn't tell him that there was a time to meet up." Finn says with a hearty laugh in my defense.

"I'm sorry I didn't know about the time nor where we should meet at." I say adding on to Finn's explanation. The adventurers are giving me a bad look for being late, it looks like this will be a stressful rank up.

"Since everyone is here let's introduce ourselves while heading out. I'm Silvia your examiner, I am a B-rank adventurer, I'm also a Ranger and I use the bow. Don't count on me to help you in this mission because it is your exam, I'm only here to be your examiner." she says with a proud voice as she leads us out of the guild and down the road.

After heading out of the gates another adventurer starts to introduce himself.

"I am Edward, My class is a knight and I wish to serve the city lord in his knight corps. I use a sword and shield so I can be upfront protecting the group." said the blonde-haired knight as he followed closely after Silvia.

"I'm Zakariya, A Monster Tamer. The only monster I have captured so far is a firefox, I named him Vulpix." he says as he pulls out a red and white ball, soon a red light protrudes from the ball and a red and orange mixed fox materializes from nothing.

Looking at all the other adventurer's reactions this seems to be normal, but come on that's totally copying pokemon. Is the author looking for a copyright strike? Oh, wait that's youtube.

"I'm Marvin, a ranger. I mainly use Curved daggers and Stealth."

'Ohh it's Marvin, nice to see him again. Wait didn't he start at the same time as me. What the hell I thought I leveled faster than others? Did he start adventuring late or something? I wonder what level he is at.'

"And I'm Elaine, I use the Lance and Wind Magic." says the other woman. She has light brown skin, black hair, brown eyes, and some muscles.

"Alright, now that everyone knows each other I'll tell you all about the mission. We are hunting a band of thieves that are camping near the Deep Forest entrance. It has been reported 2 months ago that they were in that area but it hasn't been reported that they attacked anyone until last week when they attacked a noble's carriage. The city lord gave this quest to the adventurer's guild yesterday with a request that the thief boss is brought back dead or alive. It will take half a day to get to the entrance of Deep Forest. We will camp out a mile away so we won't be discovered and attack them in the morning. Got it? Then let's go." Silvia said in a rush as she leads us down the long dirt road.
