Reborn As A Dragon!?

Chapter 28 - Charles...

Previously:

(Alderam) - "Hikari and I haven't found a place to stay just yet, but can we stay here until we do?"

(Parthenia) - "Yes Alderam, YOU can stay here."

(Hikari) - "Don't worry Alderam, we don't need this insects help and we can just leave."

Big surprise that I get caught up in yet another tug of war. *Sigh*, why does every chapter end with me getting dragged somewhere.

*Druruin Empire Mystery Kid P.O.V.*

It's been 2 weeks since I came to this world and it is frickin awesome! I found out how weak I am in this world with my stats being under average. It also seems that the stat intelligence correlates to being smart rather than mana regeneration which is strange considering that in every other fantasy novel INT means mana regeneration.

Wait, am I in a novel!?

No, that surely can't be. I can feel, talk, and am alive. There is no way that this is a fake world created by a guy with no time on his hands.

Hmm strange, I thought I heard someone for a second there but enough of that, more about me! I am a destined hero of this world! Just take a look at my stats. I don't know how luck works in this world but I think it is my cheat.

(Mystery Kid) - "STATUS!"

(A/N - FF is not a typo and I like some 'normal' fanfictions)

I found out that we are supposed to take out a big bad darkness dragon. With my luck and my fantasy knowledge, I can conclude that we will be able to take out the dragon. I have the upper hand in that the dragon has no idea about knowledge from outside of this world.

*To Alderam*

Man, I wish I had asked Jason (Dragonborn) about TV. Living without anime is hard knowing that you won't be able to catch up on the newer shows. Switching from a world with a crap ton of entertaining tech to a somewhat boring one can be annoying.

*Achoo* Hm, why do I feel like someone is talking about me.

(*Nightmare*) - "Can I get more screen time?"

(*Alderam*) - "No Nightmare. The fans want to see more dragon things than an annoying cat."

(*Nightmare*) - ";-; I bet fans forgot about me!"

Yep, the dragon totally doesn't know anything about our world which gives us a huge advantage, but me not knowing much about the dragon puts me at a disadvantage as all I have right now is that it is weak to light and that it probably lives on the top of a mountain, because bitches love mountains.

*3rd Person*

Whispers can be seen throughout the dining room with all of the students in it.

(Random Student) - "Why is he biting the end of his fork like that. He hasn't moved an inch since we got here 20 minutes ago. Haha, let's get his attention boys!"

One of the boys grabs one of his extra spoons and throws it at Charlie. At that moment Charlie leaned back and did a large sigh.

(Daisuke) - "Damnit, how did I miss? Hey James, give me one of yours."

He puts on a mischievous smile as he loads some mashed potatoes on the spoon. It is thrown but one of the girls sitting next to Charlie stood up and started to move away from him to which the spoon hit the back of her head.

(Daisuke) - "What the hell is with this guy. My skillset correlates with a ranger that has an accuracy skill allowing me to not miss from a distance this far. Why has it missed twice?"

(Random Student) - "Looks like you aren't all that in this world. You got a serious downgrade from that hotshot in highschool to missing a loser who is not even 10 feet away from us."

(Hina) - "*gasp* what the hell Daisuke!"

This breaks Charlie out of his train of thought and diffuses the situation that was starting to escalate when the head knight of Drurin walks in.

(Head Knight) - "Please finish your food our heroes before we start your training to become fine wizards and knights."

*Charlie P.O.V.*

Let's go, baby! I can't wait to be some awesome warrior that gets a harem. The students of our class may be laughing at me now but just you wait until I take down the darkness dragon. I'm the protagonist of this world and nobody can tell me otherwise!

Holy macaroni, this place is nice. Seeing them in manga is one thing, but actually experiencing it is another thing altogether. The head knight leads us to what seems to be the courtyard with many wood dummies for sword training, some targets for the rangers, and sort of shiny wall that looks to be enchanted with something. I guess that is for mages then.

Hm, what would I be best suited for? I would like to be a warrior with awesome swords and crazy skills. Or maybe some badass mage? How about some crazy archer?

That is something truly to look forward to. Considering I don't really have any mage or ranger skills, I think my best bet would be to stick to the sword and who doesn't like to see some dude on the front lines ripping demons in half?

(Head Knight) - "...heroes, pick a station that best suits you."

Oh shit, I totally zoned out of the Head Knights explanation. I go over to ask some of the other students but they start to move away when I get close without talking to me. Jokes on them, they will be praising me when this whole deal is over.

I see the crowd of students start to fan out into different stations based on the skillset that was given to them by the summoning or God. I don't know how cheats or things are given to people. Everybody else started with high stats ranging in the multiple hundreds for their stats and some are even in the thousands for health.

By listening (eavesdropping) to multiple conversations, I have learned that I am the only person with a 'cheat' as most people would call it with my insane luck stat.

I head over to the sword dummy station to see if I can increase my stats for the sword. As I draw my sword I hear a large explosion near the mage station.

(Random Student) - "Holy crap Hina, your magic is insane!"

People take their attention off of their stations as they all stare at her in awe from the large explosion she just made with a simple fireball spell.

*sigh* It looks like I have my work cut out for me! I try to swing my sword at the dummy to no avail as I can barely swing the sword. It is way to heavy for me I guess. As someone said, "strength can't be achieved overnight." Someone has probably said that somewhere before.

I hold my sword tight in my hands and do some slow front slashes repeatedly to build up muscle to swing the sword proficiently.

(Daisuke) - "Hey loser, can't swing a sword? I think a twig would be better for someone like you!"

Just you watch you asshole, I'm going to surpass everyone here if it is the last thing I do!

*One Week Later*

(Head Knight) - "Listen, Charles, I don't think the sword will suit you very well. After a week, you can barely swing the sword 5 times without getting exhausted. Have you tried being a mage or a ranger?"

(Charlie) - "I actually don't have any magic and I don't have any skills for being a ranger..."

(Head Knight) - "Do you have any skills for the sword?"

(Charlie) - "N-no, not yet, but I will! Please give me another week, I will show you results that will prove that I am fit to be a hero!"

(Author - Damn Izuku, chill out)

(Head Knight) - "Will you allow me to view your statistics young Charles?"

(Charlie) - Um, s-sure I-I guess.

The head knight closely reads his stats and gives Charlie a look of pity.

(Head Knight) - "Luck isn't going to kill a dragon, Charles. Keep working at the sword for now and I will discuss what comes next."

What does he mean by that? What does he mean by 'what comes next'? He doesn't mean I'm going to be one of those protagonists who doesn't make it and gets kicked out for being unsatisfactory?

N-No, they wouldn't, would they? I start to shake and get scared for the first time since entering this new world. I have been nothing but excited the entire time but I-I will...

(Daisuke) - "What's wrong loser, are you sad? We don't need a weakling like you to help us fight. Actually, I found a good use for you, you can be bait so we won't need to risk our tanks."

Most of the students laugh but one.

(Hina) - "Stop being a prick about this Daisuke, he is trapped in this world, same as us. Give him a little respect that he has been taking this well. He might be useless right now, but he is a hero summoned just like us, you never know if he is going to progress like us."

(Daisuke) - "Don't make me laugh, you might've gotten some better abilities if you got hit by that 'Truck-kun' you talk about."

Tears start to flow down my eyes as I sprint out of the courtyard and head to my room where I proceed to slam the door shut.

I can't give up now can I? I mean, I'm the protagonist, right? What the hell does luck even do other than be completely useless? I curl up in a ball and lay down in my bed. Until...

Heavy winds appear out of nowhere and the windows to my room burst open.

(????) - "I can give you the power to obliterate all of those children if you so d.e.s.i.r.e."

I shoot up from my bed and look around me to see no one but myself in the room alone.

(Charlie) - "Who the hell are you!?"

(????) - "Who I am doesn't matter, but more about you."

(Charlie) - "Why are you here!"

(????) - "You're the protagonist of this world, correct?"

(Charlie) - "Well yes, but... I don't know anymore."

(????) - "Then I'll lend you my strength if you would like. What would you give for power that rivals the strongest beings of this new world you have been summoned to?"

(Charlie) - "No, I will do this on my own, I don't need some demons to help to gain power. I will get it on my own so get out of my head!"

(????) - "Very well, but my offer still stands..."

The same winds exit through the window and the window slams shut.

People get corrupt when they get approached by demons like this. I need to understand that this happens when people are in their weakest state of mind. I won't stoop so low as to cheat power.

Well, I don't think I will...

(End)
