Pinnacles' Edge

It was early afternoon when Xi Jingfei woke up from her deep sleep. Reluctantly she left her bed. Peeping out of the only window in the room, that opened in one of the main streets of the market place, she quietly watched the hustle and bustle around.

The venders trying to lure as many customers as possible. Quite a number of customers buying their necessities while others were bargaining to get the best price. Some sellers looked as if having a "Who has the loudest pitch?" competition. A few of them were loud enough for Xi Jingfei to hear them from her room on the first floor while some others showed concern for their ears and remained within the limits by not being noisy. Kids were playing around whilst their parents were busy chatting with one another or buying commodities. With a pretty smile, the girl welcomed the day.

Xi Jingfei then shifted her gaze from the market to her roommate. Samuel was sleeping like a half dead, one leg on the sofa while the other hanging down to the floor. His one hand resting on his chest while the other on the headrest of the sofa. Looking at him, she giggled before capturing this moment in Samuel's professional camera, the only thing he brought along.

Keeping the camera back safely, she went to take a bath. Similar to the room, the bathroom was not big either but fulfilled the need of someone who wasn't staying for pleasure but just to spend the night.

Looking in the mirror hanging on the wall of the bathroom, she took off her brown elbow length wig that she had always been wearing this past one year, ever since she had become "Zin Lixue". Except for the time when she was all alone, she would not take the wig off. Soon as the wig was removed, her black hair slid down like a waterfall racing down in a series of cascades reaching her knee.

A fade memory of the time her mother used to take care of her hair every day when she was in her adolescent years, appeared in her mind. It ached her heart to think that she had never cared for these things, that she had never expressed her love for her mother or the sweet loving family she had. Taking things for granted, she had now lost everything that she once cared for.

Wiping the steam on the mirror with the palm of her hand, she came back to reality. Samuel was calling for her from the outside,

"Zin Lixue, come out quickly. Gosh what's taking you so long to freshen up?"

The girl answered without any change in her expressions, "I'll be out in 5. Why are you screaming?"

"Because you are not the only human here. I've my needs too." Not directly saying anything but revealing the urgency in his voice, he hurriedly said.

"Fine. Wait a bit." A chuckle could be heard from inside the bathroom, giving a frustrated feeling to the man standing outside.

A little later the girl came out wearing another pair of dark blue ripped pants and maroon tee with a brown wig on her head, hiding her real hair. Without any further talk Samuel went in.

After taking a bath as the man came out wearing casual jeans and tee, the same one from the last night just without the denim jacket. It gave off a different feel of comfort than that of last night when he was standing in front of the bar. Looking at him, Xi Jingfei proposed that they first grab a meal and then do the rest of the things. And hence, they both went out for a meal in a small restaurant nearby.

A lot of people were discussing about an upcoming big budget movie. On a television screen in the restaurant, the news was being broadcasted.

"A much awaited movie starring Shawn and Dreamy is soon going on floor. It's going to be directed by Aayden who is famous as one of the top notch directors in the industry at present. According to our trustable resources, they are soon going to shoot a song in locations near City A. Stay tuned for more updates." The news said.

Hearing the news, Xi Jingfei slightly choked on her food. Samuel offered water but she rejected. Thinking about her list of 10 people again, her eyes filled with hatred.

"Here comes another. Aayden, I wasn't going to go after you this soon, but looks like your destiny itself is bringing you to me. I know getting near to you is not as easy as it was with Zhao Han but it's alright. I have patience. Wait for me." Xi Jingfei thought.

Though Samuel didn't know what was in her mind, but he didn't want to fluster her. "If she wants to share, I'm all ears; but if she doesn't, then I won't force her."

Human's brain is a complicated structure, in fraction of seconds, the mind can wander across the oceans. Samuel abruptly remembered the events of the previous night. The thought of Zhao Han was enough for his heart to bleed. But at the same his heart sank to think that if he would have been alone, had he not met Xi Jingfei, would he be able to kill Zhao Han? Would he have been able to avenge his sister like Xi Jingfei did? Wondering what Zhao Han had said to the girl to turn so cruel and kill him the way she did, the guy looked at her peacefully eating her food.

Not being able to suppress this curiosity inside himself, the man asked at last, "Why did you kill him, Zhao Han I mean? Don't you think you went overboard by directly just end his life?"

This was the first thing they had talked in all the time they were eating. Flustered a bit but gaining her composure soon, the girl answered,

"He deserved to die… That vermin…" Evidently her eyes turned red and expression darkened.
