Ore no Ongaeshi: High Spec Murazukuri

Lesson 20: New Power and Shadow

Called to Gaton, the old blacksmith, I returned to the village square.

"Hmm, kid. It's too late."

"Is that an example of a long bow?"

"Look, I've tweaked it for Leesha's lady."

The bow that I asked to make was handed to me by Gaton, and I check the motion. It runs smoothly as per my blueprints and has a good enough finish.

"That's Jii from Gaton. That's a lot of extraordinary skill."

"Hmm. It's better than Onusi's head to think about a bow with such a strange mechanism."

I'm also getting used to tapping each other lightly in greetings. But it's true from the bottom of my heart that I'm a big shot.

"Master Yamato... is that the long bow of the machine (marionette bow)... this mine"

"Oh. I'll do the final confirmation, just a moment, Mr. Riesha."

This time I had Gaton, an old blacksmith of the Mountain Hole clan, make it a composite long bow.

The user is Reesha, a girl who is also a hunter.

As usual, the blueprints have been drawn by me on dirty drawings, and I have been working on them for about a month in consultation with the stubborn Jii.

(But really Jii's arm in Gaton is horrible......)

I am heartily moved as I final check the bow motion.

This mechanical long bow (marionette bow) is not like a regular bow. The theory referred to a composite bow (compound bow) that was in this world.

Composite bows (compound bows) are modern bows made of mechanical elements such as Teco principles and mechanics, using pulleys and cables.

When Jii of Gaton made the crossbow (crossbow), I was taking cues from its gear and device combinations.

From that tip, I further evolved the composite bow (compound bow) of the world, and I drew the blueprint for this machine bow (marionette bow).

"Did you make the gears and pulleys visceral?"

"There is no" Iron God ”in such an externally exposed design. It's built right in."

"Sure you do."

What surprised me the most was its sophisticated design.

The mechanical long bow (marionette bow) looks like a normal long bow. However, the mechanical system as shown in the blueprint was hidden inside the bow.

"Give me a shot, Mr. Riesha"

"Yes, I understand"

Hand the machine long bow (marionette bow) to Riesha after the final confirmation, and let her actually shoot.

No matter how good the design form looks, it's a failure if there's a problem with power or user-friendliness.

"Okay, let's go."

Risha takes a soothing deep breath and pulls her bow.

Her arrow tips target the metal plate set up in the village square.

At some point the villagers, gathered together, watch their breath only quietly. All the gaze of those who were in the square gathers at her arrow tip.

Along with her unique hanging voice, "Ha!", the arrow slashes and rips open the air.

"Oh!"

"This is..."

And at the next moment, the villagers will raise their voices of surprise. Many missed too many arrow speeds.

"It's amazing... it's penetrating a plate of metal..."

The most surprising was Reesha herself.

Because her previously favorite bow has never been able to penetrate thicker metal plates or anything else. Then the response was no different from the usual bow.

"All right, next we measure the continuous firing performance and accuracy"

I have prepared it for you, holding the hard nuts of a large cobbler. This will be the next move.

"Let's go."

"Yes, please! Yamato."

The voice signals, and I throw the nuts one after the other towards the sky. The throwing interval is the timing of "continuous shooting” with Leisha's regular bow.

This prototype is a failure if, even if it is highly powerful, it is losing its continuity and accuracy.

However, the concern arises from concern.

"Oh! All of it, hit me!

"So fast, and that destructive power. I've never seen a bow like this..."

The villagers cheer.

This test was also a great success.

Reesha quickly shot through all the nuts I threw in a row. It was a beautiful form with no waste whatsoever.

"Mr. Yamato... Mr. Gaton... this is really amazing..."

Not too much of a touching and shocking Riesha had lost her word.

I have checked my hands and bows many times. I still don't believe in this terrible outcome.

"The power is only slightly inferior to that of a crossbow (crossbow). But the longbow (marionette bow) is overwhelmingly high for continuity, accuracy, and distance."

"Hmm. That's what I ordered, but in Onusi's blueprints,"

"Oh. But it's more deadbeat than I imagined."

"Well, I'm also, to be honest, surprised"

I was also distracted by the design and the guts I made.

Neither of us thought we could have a high-performance long bow (marionette bow) so far.

"Of course it's the same as a crossbow, I can't replicate it to anyone."

"I guess."

"Even I might not be able to make a second one"

"That's troublesome"

My heart calms down as I joke with the old artisan Gaton.

"Mr. Riesha. You should get used to using that bow today."

"Yes! Thank you so much, Yamato..."

"Hmm? What's up... with the tears"

"When I think I can help Master Yamato, there are inspiring tears..."

"Without imposing. I hope."

"Yes! I'll do my best!

I'm still not sure about the female heart.

But Risha seems happy to get new and powerful tools to help her out for the village.

If a bowman as awesome as she is combined with a mechanical long bow (marionette bow), it would be exactly a gold bar for ghosts.

I think I'm reliable, too.

"Brother Yamato!

That was the time.

There's a shadow running towards the square, screaming my name.

"What's up?"

It was a familiar village child who arrived breathlessly. He's the only one who was touring around the village today in pairs.

"Brother Yamato! Oh, my God!"

"Calm down and talk."

He's out of breath and excited. Let the kid drink water and calm him down. I should have taught the kids that calm matters at all times.

"Also, there was" that footprint. "And a lot this time!

"Right. Ok......"

That was really bad news at this time before planting.

What the boy found was traces of intruders who were not from this village.
