Sorry that this is another info dump. Should be the last one. I need to figure out how to do info-dumps while the story is progressing instead of chapters like these.

The day after he learned about jujutsu and the sorcerers ȧssociated with the term, his teacher taught him about cursed energy manipulation. Although Yukio had already read the book that the System rewarded him, he still listened to his teacher. It took two days for his teacher to finish explaining the concept and related topics.

On the 15th, his teacher began the next topic; Cursed Spirits. This was what Yukio had been waiting for. He was very interested in learning about cursed spirits as his technique was capable of creating them. The lesson ended on the 18th as the weekends were Satoru and Yukio's weekends.

Cursed Spirits are a race of spiritual beings that manifest from cursed energy as a result of the negative emotions that flow out of humans. They are capable of bringing harm to humanity which causes them to become the primary targets of jujutsu sorcerers. They are also referred to simply as curses.

Cursed spirits are born from the cursed energy that leaks from humans as a result of their negative emotions. The cursed energy builds up like sediment until a curse takes form.

Populated locations such as hospitals and schools are hot spots for bearing curses because many negative emotions are ȧssociated with the memories and images of those places.

This same concept applies to humanity's collective fear and hatred. An image of fear shared by the masses can create a powerful curse even if the subject isn't real, such as monsters or ghosts. The image that humanity directs their negativity is what causes them to manifest as a curse.

The longstanding negative feelings humanity has towards things such as plagues and natural disasters result in a massive collection of cursed energy that results in curses manifested from them having consciousness related to said feelings.

Sorcerers must also be killed with jujutsu or they can become vengeful spirits after death.

'I wonder what kind of vengeful cursed spirit I will become if I die by the hands of a non-sorcerer. Will I retain my memories if I become one?'

Although the origin of curses and jujutsu is unknown, it is believed that they have always existed alongside humanity since cursed energy comes from negative emotion.

The Heian Era was deemed the golden age of jujutsu. During this time, a sorcerer-turned-cursed spirit - Ryomen Sukuna - became the undisputed King of Curses. Nearly a thousand years since the Heian Era, the King of Curses' influence still greatly affects the current age.

Speaking of the current age, the number of unexplained deaths and disappearances in Japan is a direct result of the influence curses have on normal society. Despite being so prevalent, their existence has been kept a secret from non-sorcerers, as they are invisible to them. Jujutsu sorcerers act in secret to repel the threat of cursed spirits.

Cursed spirits are entirely made up of cursed energy; due to this, non-sorcerers to be unable to perceive nor touch them. Living humans who have been cursed can only tell they have strange symptoms without realizing a cursed spirit is behind it. Non-sorcerers whose lives are put in danger by a curse may gain the ability to perceive them in that life or death situation.

Curses come in all kinds of grotesque shapes and sizes. Generally, they linger around their point of origin and instinctively curse humans. Other than that, a curse's habits vary a great deal from spirit to spirit. They are most stable when possessing an item, and some curses can possess inanimate objects to become cursed corpses.

Special grade cursed spirits with high intelligence are usually bipedal creatures with shapes comparable to humans. They are capable of holding normal conversations and can work together as an organized group.

Certain curses, such as shikigami, obey humans after they're forced into submission by their master.

Since their bodies are composed of cursed energy, cursed spirits cannot be harmed by conventional means. They can be hit by a physical attack but it will deal no damage regardless of the strength put into it.

The general rule of jujutsu is that a curse must be exorcised using another curse; cursed spirits can only be exorcised using cursed energy.

A fatal attack using cursed energy will cause the curse to disappear completely. However, this doesn't apply to curses who have been incarnated using a human vessel.

Curses that are too powerful to be destroyed must be sealed away using a constraint.

For example, Sukuna continued to exist in the form of his twenty fingers which are classified as special grade cursed objects. These fingers can still attract cursed spirits and choose their vessel. They must be individually sealed with a talisman to hinder the damage they could cause.

Like most things in the jujutsu world, cursed spirits are divided into five different ranks; from four to one and special grade. They are ranked based on their intelligence, amount of cursed energy, and their skill and strength.

Jujutsu sorcerers are expected to take on missions involving curses of the same level. A Grade 3 sorcerer should be able to defeat a Grade 3 curse because their skill level is closer to the strength of a Grade 2 curse.

Grade 4 - "A wooden bat is enough."

Grade 3 - "If you have a handgun, you can rest easy."

Grade 2 - "Close call with a shotgun."

Grade 1 - "Even a tank might be insufficient."

Special Grade - "Cluster bombs *might* work".

There is also a grade in between Grade 2 and 1 known as Semi-Grade 1. Cursed spirits that can communicate are automatically considered to be Semi-Grade 1 at the lowest. Semi-Grade 1s can utilize cursed techniques.
