I held her hand and we both ran for the gate.

"Don't leave that gate, " Cletus screamed jumping down the stairs. My mind was made up, I didn't look back. I will not come back to him again. It's over. I said to myself.

Reaching the gate I carried my daughter on my back and I ran without looking back.

When Cletus saw that I was running so fast and he could not meet up with us he ran back to get his car.

"Shit why didn't I bring my car!" I cried out. I was so scared, if I wasn't with my daughter I would have passed out from fear. It was the knowledge that I was protecting someone other than myself that helped me remain strong.

"Mum dad is going to hit us." Nne cried out. Cletus was driving with so much speed now.

I had to make a choice, it was either my daughter or me and I knew who I would choose any time and any day. It was not even a choice. I dropped NNE down from my back. "Nne run," I begged."Run and never look back, Mummy will be fine. "

"I'll never leave you mum," she replied as she hugged me. I tried to push her away, "Nne please run, I can't let him hurt you too. Listen to mummy." She didn't. She held on to me tightly, while we both cried.

Cletus caught up with us.

"Get in!" Cletus screamed.

Shaking, I looked back to see that he was already out of his car and was leaning on it holding a big stick.

He looked so enraged, seeing his face alone s.u.c.k.e.d out all the air in my lungs.

"You can never run away from me. Never! I own you both. You both belong to me!"

Out of fear I stood still not moving an inch from that spot. I was sobbing so much because I knew that I could not escape him. Why did I even try to? I asked myself sobbing all the more. Now he was going to punish us more than he would have had I not tried to escape. I was so stupid for thinking that I could escape him.

"Get into this car now Miracle!" He screamed. I did not move.

I kept shaking my head in the negative while looking around to see if anyone was around to help me, but their was no one in sight as we were living in the kind of estate where you barely got to see anyone outside.

"If I should come there to drag you myself you will not live to tell the story I promise you." Cletus warned as he started to take taunting slow steps to us.

"Get in." The voice said. The voice belonged to Sid.

From then on everything happened so fast. Sid saved us that day and he took us somewhere safe but the story was just beginning.
