Chapter 23 - Brian's Rage

The man was silent for a long time. Every word that Olivia said weighed heavily on his heart. At that time, he had only cared about raising the price with Miss Smith. He had thought that his arrangements had been flawless, but now, he was really afraid that she would do something like this. Of course, he had already kidnapped Olivia, so he might as well just go all out.

“Miss Olivia, what you said makes a lot of sense. However, I have no other way out now. I can only follow her request. After all, I’ve taken her money to help her.”

Olivia couldn’t tell that the man was a loyal person. It seemed like she had to take the risk.

“The only reason you are doing this is that you need money desperately. I won’t treat you unfairly either. You can ask her to come over now and bring the medicine along. Wouldn’t that guarantee that the situation I mentioned won’t happen?”

The man nodded and felt that what Olivia said made sense. He turned around and left, leaving her alone inside.

Olivia slowly moved her body to the side of the stool and cut off the rope with great effort. Then, she pretended that she was still tied up and sat on the spot.

When Brian returned home, there was no sign of Olivia. No one picked up even when he called her. He asked Uncle Ford about her whereabouts and found out that she had gone to the hospital. Thinking about the situation during the day, this dumb woman would definitely suffer if she went there.

Brian’s heart was filled with worry for the woman as he drove toward the hospital. He stepped on the accelerator and soon arrived. Brian went to the front desk and asked about Joseph’s ward. However, he did not find Olivia, nor did he see Sophia and Hersha.

Brian was a little anxious and continued to call Olivia, but no one picked up. Feeling uneasy, he immediately called Paul and asked him to find out what was going on as soon as possible.

Paul had already gotten off work and was drinking alone outside. Brian’s call forced him to immediately take over the job he had just received. He rushed to the hospital, went straight to the surveillance room, and found that his boss was also there.

“Boss, I only managed to find out that Mrs. Ford was here, but her phone location is near the pier.”

Brian looked at Olivia in the surveillance camera. She was drugged by the person who looked like a nurse, and so was Sophia.

The fake nurses had only taken her away, so this matter had nothing to do with her stepsister?

Paul glanced at the surveillance camera and immediately understood what was going on. He could only feel the temperature around him plummet. There was no expression on Brian’s face, and his eyes were deep and unfathomable. He had followed this man for so many years, so how could he not know that Brian was already angry?

“How dare he touch my woman? Only hell awaits him.”

Brian’s heart was filled with anger. There was a fetus in Olivia’s womb now. If anything happened, the consequences would be unimaginable. When he turned around and exited the hospital, he saw Sophia sneakily entering a taxi.

“Paul, drive your car and follow the taxi in front. Don’t drive mine, lest we alert the enemy.”

Paul nodded and followed closely behind the taxi driver.

Fortunately, Sophia didn’t notice anyone following them. She was worried that someone might recognize her. After some thought, she called the police.

When they passed by a department store, Sophia got out of the car and bought a mask and sunglasses. She was satisfied when she confirmed that no one could recognize her.

What she did not know was that Brian, who was in the BMW, had seen this scene. The veins on Brian’s fists were bulging, but there was an indifferent smile on his lips. His face was terrifyingly dark.

“She’s finally shown her true colors.”

Paul quietly rolled down the window as the atmosphere in the car was too depressing. Soon, they arrived at the pier. Sophia carefully looked around to make sure that there was no one around before she relaxed and prepared to enter.

Brian would not give Sophia a chance to hurt Olivia, so he quickly walked ahead of her. After seeing him, Sophia hid behind a truck like she was feeling guilty.

Sophia felt uneasy and did not know if Brian had recognized her just now. If she wanted to clear her name now, she could only rush back to the hospital and pretend to be unconscious. She had not used her own phone to call the police earlier, so they would not be able to trace her call.

Brian kicked one of the two people guarding the door away, and the other person immediately shouted a man’s name, “Derek, someone’s coming!”

When the man heard the shout, he thought it was Miss Smith. He immediately put on a smiling face and came out to welcome her. When he walked out, he felt a murderous aura, not friendly at all.

Upon raising his head, Derek saw that Brian had already beaten his accomplices to the ground. His heart skipped a beat, and he felt that he was done for. Derek was so frightened that his legs turned to jelly, and he knelt on the ground.

“Mr… Mr. Ford, I-I didn’t mean it.”

Brian did not want to hear the explanation. He kicked Derek and caused him to faint.

Brian frowned as the sirens of the police cars were getting closer and closer.

What were they doing? If the police were too high-profile and flaunted their movements, those ruthless kidnappers would probably kill Olivia first.

Brian followed the path and walked to a small house, which was well hidden. He walked forward and pushed open the door. There was no one inside. Just as he was about to walk in, a stool fell onto his lap.

Fortunately, he jumped back quickly. Otherwise, the broken chair would have landed on his legs. Judging from the force, if it had really hit him, he would probably have to lie in bed for a while.

When Olivia saw that she hadn’t hit the newcomer, she was a bit unwilling, but she could do nothing. Since she had already been discovered, there was no point in hiding any longer. She closed her eyes and charged out with no regard for death, exerting force with her back arched.

Brian did not expect the person in the room to do this and was knocked to the ground. He felt a huge pressure on his chest, making it hard for him to breathe.

Olivia felt that the figure beneath her was a little familiar, but she couldn’t put her finger on it. When she opened her eyes, Brian was staring at her with bulging eyes. He looked a little awkward, and his posture was a little strange.

“Are you okay?”

Olivia blinked her big eyes and looked at Brian innocently as if the person who had bumped into him was someone else and not her. It had nothing to do with her.

“What do you think?”

Brian was hit hard by the impact, and the pain in his chest remained. He wondered how much effort Olivia had put in to think of him as a bad person.

“Why? Don’t you want to get up? Do you want to press down on me for a while longer?”

Only then did Olivia realize that she was pressing against Brian in an awkward position. However, Brian’s chest was really firm. Her face was as red as a monkey’s butt as she immediately got up.

Brian slowly stood up. There was dust on his back, and he patted it with his hand. He was busy checking if there were any injuries on her body. After confirming that there were no injuries, he felt relieved.

“Is everything okay?”

Olivia shook her head.

Who did he think she was? How could anything happen to her?
