Morningstar Of Sin

Chapter 29 - Big Bad Banner

With a deep sigh I close my eyes and search for the contract that binds Banner to me. I find him in an abandoned warehouse near a ruined docks a few miles north just past the Bronx.

I vanish from where I'm sitting and appear at the docks. The docks are old and falling apart, but the one I felt Banner in has a roof that was obviously smashed in from above. As I'm walking in I notice another one of the open warehouses has steel beams tied up like pulley weights.

Ignoring the rather heavy workout equipment I walk into the warehouse to see Banner struggling on the ground. His skin is changing from green to white then back again as he tears at it. His muscles are bulging and inflating squirming under his skin in disgusting ways. His clothes are torn off all but a portion of his pants.

As I walk up I can hear his breathing is ragged obviously from fighting whatever is changing him. I run Wrath through him to cleanse him of any toxins or impairments but it doesn't help, he keeps struggling. That means what is happening to him isn't exactly negative, I mean it does give him power.

When I'm only a few feet away I see him turn to me with glowing green eyes that lack his usual intelligence. He seemingly loses the battle as his skin turns green and he grows in size. His muscles bulge until he looks like a bodybuilder who got wider but not much taller.

As he stands up I see his full height is just over 7-foot tall but he is also wide as his muscles are too developed making him look bulky.

"Banner?" I ask while not expecting an answer. I still look into his eyes looking for intelligence to see if he heard me, but I see nothing.

With a savage roar he throws a punch at me with the full swing of his arm. My crown flairs to life as I speak with Pride "SIT, MUTT."

His leg gives out, making the punch miss as he falls on his ugly green a.s.s. He does a comical spin on the way down like an old cartoon character. I stand there thinking of what to do but as I am thinking I hear the green man roar.

I stare at him doubtfully as I watch him struggle to stand up. The ground shutters and cracks as he is forced down. Much to my surprise he grows in size slightly as he struggles to get up, his teeth are grit with his veins bulging. With the amount of struggle he is giving even I am tempted to root for him.

*BANG* He manages to get one of his legs out from under himself so now he is kneeling. Each time he tried raising his leg it smashes back down, cracking the ground. *BANG* His other leg gets up as well so now he is crouched down lifting with all his might. At this point the cracked ground has turned to a crater with the force he has been pushing with.

I smirk as I release him from Pride's lock. Like a tense spring being released he is launched into the air. I look into the daytime sky with admiration. "That's at least 400 feet, impressive."

Just standing there I see the Big Bad Banner is flying, more like falling, right towards me. He will certainly destroy this part of the docks if I let him land so I decide to meet him halfway. I glow red as I am covered in Wrath's shroud and crouch low as I prepare to launch myself with wings spread wide. The ground cracks and the air around me stills at the condensed power.

*BOOM* Like a bullet I launch from the ground instantly meeting the green Banner in the air. Anger is written across the big man's face. I hit him with a right hook sending him flying into the bay.

I softly land at the end of one of the docks watching the water slowly settle. Standing there I think about if I should fish him out of the water or not. My thoughts are stopped when the big green Banner jumps out of the water like a flying fish.

Dodging his fists flying my way I ponder how I can subdue him without hurting Banner.

"HULK SMASH!" To my absolute astonishment the beast actually talked… kind of.

I quickly back away and look into it's green eyes "What is it you d.e.s.i.r.e?" Greed's power floods his brain.

The green lug looks confused "Smash?" I facepalm, I don't know what I expected, but it wasn't that.

The beast once again rushes me having regained sense. I roll my eyes as I use Gluttony to steal his strength. For a short instance I am filled with both rage and a feeling of unending strength but it quickly fades as I control the anger.

I smile looking at the big lug who is now getting angry at his lack of strength but I can see it's quickly returning. It appears his ability is to be infinitely powerful as long as he is angry enough. It's quite similar to Wrath but this beast obviously doesn't have his emotions in check, he is like a rampaging toddler.

Feeling that it would be unwise to drag out a fight with a beast that can get infinitely powerful I move. I once again steal his strength and rush forward grabbing him by the neck. Since he is slightly taller I use my arm to lift him up and spin him around. With both hands on his ankles I wring him out like a blanket on the concrete pier smashing him flat. I see him move slightly so I lift him up and smash him down again.

After a few rounds of smashing him into the ground like a groundhog hole he faints. I give an annoyed sigh, holding back my strength to not crush the green Banner was probably more annoying than fighting him.

Much to my relief Banner turns back to his dad bod self again after a minute or two of being unconscious. Hopefully he will stay like this, because I'm taking him back to Betty right now. There is not a chance in any of the 8 Hell's that I will take care of him. Not my job.

Lifting up his limp body I hoist him over my shoulder and vanish.
