Although there are solar power plants around the base, after entering winter, the intensity of sunlight is weak, so the power generation is insufficient. It is ok to maintain the normal electricity consumption of the base, but it is not enough to use it for heating.

As for natural gas, it's not that they don't want to use it, but that it's far away from the city. Natural gas needs to be transported back and forth, and the storage conditions of natural gas are relatively harsh, so using coking coal as fuel is the best choice.

Secondly, there is another reason, that is, the winter climate here is relatively changeable, and extreme weather such as heavy snowfall may occur. Snow packs tend to be very lagging, causing ground transportation to be completely disrupted.

As a result, their land transportation was basically cut off, and supplies could only be transported by air. So they will store the coking coal for the whole winter before the arrival of winter in order to deal with the emergence of such extreme weather conditions.

In addition to these, in fact, the most important and precious resource next to this desert is drinking water. To this end, they built hundreds of kilometers of drinking water pipelines.

These pipelines will bring river water hundreds of kilometers away here, and gradually form a lake. And around this lake, many trees were planted.

Some employees have encountered wolves when working in the field, and it was a big wolf pack. Fortunately, there were quite a group of them, so the wolves ran away when they saw them.
